RIVUE Restaurant and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely fabulous NYE dinner! Our server was extremely thorough & prompt. He was very kind and considerate.... made sure to communicate with the chef that my husband's meal was nut free (hubby has allergies)... and anticipated our needs. The food was on point! LOVED the 1st course trio, the prawns w/Brussels sprouts was perfectly paired! Filet was cooked to perfection (hubby loved it).... and my scallops were beautifully seared, tender and sweet. 5 stars!!
My gf and I had dinner here on Sat before New Years. I didn’t know at the time but when you make reservations... you should ask for a window view. I did not do this but the hostess was very nice and found a table by a window for us anyway. The view was outstanding of the river and downtown Louisville. Food was delicious( I had the Peking duck and she had the filet mignon) and service excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Louisville and especially if you are looking for a romantic restaurant.
Thanks for the opportunity to complete this survey. This was my third visit to the restaurant. I had a very pleasurable experience on the previous two visits. However, the food on this visit was very poor. I ordered a Certified Angus Steak and it was less than desirable. The steak was very dry and not hot. At the moment, my friend's specific meal escapes me but she also expressed had issues regarding the taste. Fortunately, the customer service was great and therfore we decided not to bring this to the attention of your staff. The events of the evening exceeded the meal taste because my friend and I got engaged. That was the primary purpose of our visit. In summary, I am not sure if I would recommend your restaurant to a friend for an evening of dining. I would like to compliment your staff for their customer service.

We arrived early for our meal and asked if we might get seated early. We were told we would have top wait 30 minutes for a table which we did. When we finally allowed entrance, we saw that there was no reason for the wait as there were plenty of tables available. I also reserved a window thinking we would be on the turn table but was told that would mean another lengthy wait. But the service from there on was quite satisfactory.
This was our 3rd trip in 2 years. Been like every 6 months since we heard about The Rivue. After getting the confirmation email with the menu attached to it we were told when we got there that the chef has changed and they had an all new menu.(wish we New this before going) We were celebrating my son’s 18th Birthday & he was looking forward to his favorite meal which he was told they no longer had. Then the rotating floor was not on when we got seated, the fire alarm goes off and we had to send 2 steaks back due to 1 not being cooked correctly & other wrong cut of steak. They did give our son his birthday dessert, but the complementary dessert cart was no longer there and the dessert menu changed so much. There was a peach dessert that we ordered and then the waitress told us they didn’t have peach, it would be apple. (Maybe should have told us that when she gave us the menus) 1st 2 trips I would have gave a 5 out of 5, but this trip I would give a 2 1/2 maybe 3. Don’t know if we would be back until some changes are made to the menu.
The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Service was friendly and attentive. The view was fabulous and continued to change as the room rotated . Not a bad seat in the place. I would highly recommend spending a romantic evening at RIVUE Restaurant !
So disappointing. I have given amazing reviews of this restaurant in the past, but it no longer deserves accolades. Some examples: steak was ordered medium, came back well done; lobster was mealy, meaning frozen and improperly thawed or very poor quality sourcing; apple dessert pastry was the equivalent of a poorly thawed Kroger generic quality product. The service, while good and friendly, lacked the little touches you would expect (and previously had) such as the hostess offering to take our coats. Also, they no longer offer the complimentary candy dessert cart, a nice way to end the meal.
Menu items were fine but we had a young guest with us and basic chicken tenders and fries were burnt. Service was good but the best server was the fellow who ensured we had bread and water...because he made sure that our young guest got special attention. Thank you, sir, for that!
Very nice view overlooking the Ohio River from 25 floors up. Beautiful atmosphere with very comfortable dining chairs. Great food although somewhat of a limited menu. There were three of us for dinner and we each ordered something different: Sea Bass - excellent, Cornish Game Hen - succulent, and Prime Rib - cooked nicely, yet not very warm. Deserts were magnificent. Well worth the money and a very nice outing.
The restaurant was not full but still had to ask for a table at the window. There were tables available at the windows but had to "ask" the manager if ok to be seated at one. We were told "it was complicated" to get a table at the window. We finally were seated at the window. Good thing we were with people we hadn't seen in along time and we enjoyed talking because it was close to 45 minutes to receive our food. The food was not hot and just ok. We eat out a lot and know good food and your food was just "ok". We spent $250.00, very disappointing! Wont be back.
The steak and mashed potatoes and bread were delicious. I love the rotating view day or night. My waiter Peter was impeccable. I was disappointed to find there was no traditional candy cart to choose from at the end of the meal. I will likely try a new restaurant next time because of the disappointment. But still an elegant offering with nice live piano music.
The food selection is broad enough to satisfy most palates. The wine selection is fairly good and choices augment the meal. We both chose the filet minion with foie gras and it was excellent. A side of marrow bread pudding also excellent. The view of the river, city, and sunset made the evening.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. We had not been there is years, but plan on retiring more frequently.
The on-line menu is outdated. I wish they would update it.
The Rivue was the absolutely perfect location to celebrate a graduation with a group of 10 guests. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the view can't be beat. This was a perfect place to have our last "official" celebratory dinner in Louisville! The food and service were excellent, even though we arrived at the restaurant just before the kitchen closing time.
Service was mediocre at best and the waitress had little knowledge of the menu. This is not the same restaurant it was 8-9 months ago. They have shrunk the menu to such an extent it could be printed on a post card, the food quality has suffered. They have done away with their signature candy cart at the end of the meal which was always a treat and something unique to them . We learned they have a new chef since June 2017 and he has instituted many changes-none for the better. To top it off when we received our bill and tried to use points on Louisville Originals we were told they put in a new computer and it wasn't programed to accept Louisville Original point to either redeem or accumulate. No apology! I now know why on a Friday night just the week before Christmas it was only 25-30% full. Our last time.
We always love coming for brunch. The view is amazing. The staff are wonderful as well as the menu. I was just a little disappointed that the quiche that is normally served was changed. I like the one from last year much better. Also, there weren't any eggs unless you wanted an omelette.
When we arrived with reservations we were walked over to a table. The hostess then said "someone took your table" and walked us back to the hostess stand. After consulting with a gentleman at the hostess stand she then walked us back to the table we were previously at. We were seated. Our waitress then walks over and says "I just want to let you know that the kitchen is struggling tonight. I don't want to sugar coat anything." She gave us our menus and left. After some time she walked by and told us one of her coworkers would be helping her. An older gentleman came over to take our order. He took our order so fast I didn't have a chance to get it all out. I had to finish my order to him when he brought our bread. When he brought our bread my husband was in the restroom. The gentleman must have gotten butter on his finger because he picked up my husband's napkin and wiped his finger on it. He left it laying on the table. My husband had to ask him for a new napkin. Our final issue of the evening was that we had waited for some time for our food when our waiter came out and told me they were out of mashed potatoes and that they could sub it for fries. During our meal I heard another waitress offering patrons 10% off their meal and free dessert. We did not get the same offered to us after we waited a while and not to mention the other issues above. My review will be posted anywhere I can leave one. We paid too much money at Rivue to feel like we get served better at McDonalds.
My friend and I visited Rivue on Sat. Dec. 9th 2017. We were celebrating my friend's birthday, so it was a special occasion. We arrived on time for our 6:30 appointment and were seated right away. Our server, Jasmine W. was just off that night as was the kitchen. The service was terribly slow (1 and a half hour wait for the entree) and the food was not up to par. The scallop appetizer was under cooked and served cold. The strip steak was so tough we couldn't even saw through it with a heavy knife. It was also fatty and full of gristle. To his credit, the manager did remove those items from our bill and gave my friend a dessert. I will probably not visit Rivue as the dining experience was so bad.
