Every Sunday, we serve our Traditional Sunday Roast, perfectly prepared and served with all the classic trimmings. We stayed at the hotel and was very impressed by the scenic views of the river. However, I unimpressed by the fact that when I walked up to the bar and ordered two alcoholic drinks which came to £25 I had to pay for a service charge without being prompted. I wouldn’t not ally mind if the drinks where being brought to me or if the staff were being extra pleasant but that wasn’t the case. In addition, we had a table booked for dinner as we were staying in the hotel but ended up cancelling as we requested for a table on the riverside and they requested that we had to pay a £10 fee just to sit there.

Food was a bit meh; my choices - the flavour profiles were all wrong, too busy and fussy, without holding up to a delicious taste. Service was okay, though hottest day of the year and I had to ask for water for the table three times. Others in my party seemed to enjoy the restaurant. Wouldn’t go back.

Food outstanding View and setting fantastic by the river Outdoor terrace seating uncomfortable - be sure to sit inside Service good 12.5 percentage service charge but an additional £10 table charge Nice lunch almost £160 with 2 drinks, 1 dessert and 1 coffee for 2 people

I booked afternoon tea at this restaurant, and the price listed online was £40 per person. Even on their menu when I arrived at the restaurant, it showed the same price — £40. But they told me the price is actually £56, and I don’t know why. If the price had only been listed online, I might have assumed it was updated or changed. But even on their physical menu, it said £40, and yet they insisted the price was £56. Honestly, I was very disappointed with them.

Brilliant time at the Compleat Angler for a lovely meal by the river for a work dinner on Wednesday 12th June, we had was great time the waiter Om was brilliant, he was professional, polite, efficient and very attentive serving such a large party of 15 guests, will defo be coming back again and maybe next time with family. Also Chandru his colleague was there assisting too.

We were rather disappointed with the restaurant. The menu choices were not very inspiring, and it was hard to decide on what to choose, from a not so good perspective. The food was fine, but bland. Not at all what I had been led to expect. Maybe the restaurant has gone down since the hote was taken over by McDonald.

Delightful location, a good menu, and staff who were polite and friendly. Service was on the slow side but, as every dish was cooked to order and well presented, my wife and I were happy. Perhaps the kitchen was distracted by the large number of Afternoon Teas being ordered by overseas visitors. The food was delicious, falling just short of memorable in my failing memory, but I will happily return for another lunchtime. Recommended.

It was a Sunday evening and was greeted with a Sunday lunch menu. When we asked to see the a La carte menu we were told no only the Sunday lunch menu. So choice was roast beef, chicken, cod or aubergine. We did not expect to have that in a 4* hotel restaurant in the evening. If we had wanted a Sunday lunch we would have had it during the day!! We had already ordered cocktails and even this wasn’t straightforward. There were 5 on offer, we asked for a classic cocktail, a cosmopolitan, to be told that they would have to check as not sure they had the ingredients. Eventually when the cocktails came we decided to drink them and leave the restaurant to find alternative dining within marlow. It wasn’t until we were about to leave that the restaurant manager asked if they could possible do us a cote de beef, perhaps they realised they would be missing out on £££. Sorry too little too late. We would have gone to the other restaurant within the hotel, Sindhu by Atol Kulthhar but we were booked in there the following night, pleased to say the service and food in there was wonderful. We found out by other guests that they were not pleased to be given a Sunday lunch menu too. So if you are wishing to eat in the riverside restaurant, check before you book as to what menu you can book from, maybe give a Sunday evening a miss if you don’t want a roast.

This is a lovely location with River views but like the rest of the hotel is in need of some TLC, all a bit faded and dated. Service was good and friendly, the menu limited but the food was well cooked and presented, it is expensive for what it is though.
