The food is good but the service left a lot to desire as they only had two attendants and the restaurant had a good number of people even on a Sunday
The food was amazing and the portions are great. The only thing I would improve is the service. The waiter could've been a bit more attentive and friendlier, but I won't let that stop me from returning.
Do not have one negative thing to say about our experience. Extremely satisfied with EVERYTHING!
We came here with a Groupon, so let's get that out of the way. Still, the entire menu was available, where in some places what you can order is restricted and not everything on the menu is available to order.
I do have a couple of gripes, but overall, the food was very, very good. The service, while very friendly, was pretty slow. There were only three tables occupied, although there was a Christmas party going on upstairs, so maybe that was why things were slow. Happily we're retired and were in no hurry to get anywhere, so I probably shouldn't complain.
We shared the mussels in a zesty marina sauce, which were as good as any I've ever had. (Not one bit of sand.)
For my entrée I had the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies. The beef was nice and tender... an excellent tomato bases sauce and the potatoes were smooth and creamy.
My wife had the lobster ravioli and sparingly allowed me a little corner of one of the raviolis. Very tasty, if I do say so myself.
We ended with a Tiramisu... which also was very very good.
Overall, we liked The Riverside Manor very much.
One other little 'issue' we had was the wine. They do pour you a nice glass of wine (remember... we had a Groupon) Their house red. Trouble was, it was cold... but cold like it came out of the refrigerator cold.
Note to Riverside... Red wine should be stored (and served at about 50 to 65 degrees... give or take a few degrees.
But will we go back? Absolutely!
Food was excellent and more than plentiful. With a Groupon it was an excellent bargain. Although the restaurant was rather empty, the waitress was very pleasant but seemed over worked and not as attentive as we would have liked.
Watch your check at the Sunday Buffet. They add the gratuity to your bill even when there is only two people in your party. I almost tipped on top of the already added tip until I went back and looked a second time.
I, for the life of me cannot figure out why more people have not discovered this fabulous restaurant. It is convenient to get to, right off of the Fair Lawn main streets, beautifully decorated, food is delicious, comforting and creative, service polished, attentive but not overbearing, and very enjoyable in so many ways. Do yourself a huge favor and visit this gem. You will thank me for it!
The place was nice and big. Went with a Groupon but didn’t realize it was a specific menu. Nothing was mentioned in the Groupon fine print, normally if there is a special menu it’s shown on the Groupon. The only uncomfortable thing was that the place was completely empty (Thursday night) which was magnified by the fact that it is a large dining area. The food was decent and the waitress was very nice.
Everything was delicious from the appetizers to the dessert! The red sangria was excellent. We liked the ambiance & the good service. We will definitely be back & will bring friends with us!
Very good. Nice views. Service very fast
We have been here several times over the past couple of years. We have attended the Brunch which is fantastic, open dined, and attended two formal affairs all leading to the same 5 star rating. Food is consistent, service excellent, ambiance beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend.
Brunch was delightful. Good choices, not just breakfast items. Delicious salsa, tilapia, rice option
I would definitely recommend the Riverside Manor. The food is very good. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean.
Sunday brunch, although generally crowded, is always satisfying. The food is very good and the variety is excellent. It is a very positive, friendly atmosphere. Because it is so popular, be sure to make a reservation!
Great Italian food! Great service reasonably priced
FOOD AND SERVICES WAS GREAT. I WILL GO BACK. I WILL LET ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW.
The food was excellent. We had the filet bruchetta and the stuffed mushrooms to start. Both excellent. We both had pasta. Great meal?
Honestly best kept secret. Absolutely loved the pasta dish & appetizers.
Tried this restaurant for brunch for the first time. Overall we were very impressed with the quality for the price. Would definitely go for brunch again.
Food delicious.... better than expected
This restaurant is just okay and, if you have good Italian close to you, then no need to travel! The ambiance is as mismatched as the menu--everything from casual to upscale. There was nothing stellar and we didn't even take the leftovers...it was very flat and non-remarkable. We have a certificate, but will not be back to use it.
The place was awesome , food was great, aand the place looks nice, the prices are great too.
I loved this place Ibought a groupon we had a bottle of wine 2 pasta dinner and 2 deserts we ate dinner inside had desert outside so those who smoke can have a relaxing time with a drink. I will go there again.
The attention to the kids always great
Restaurant is beautiful, well maintained and romantic
Historic building with interesting spaces. Food was phenomenal and beautifully presented
Wait staff was charming and well trained. A real find for groups or dates. I loved every minute of my dining experience and will definitely be back!
We had a voucher from living social for a 7 course meal with wine pairing. When I made the reservation over the phone I made sure I mentioned the voucher so that there would be no issues with preparation. When we got to the restaurant we were seated directly next to a big family party with children running all over the place. We asked to be re-seated since 80% of the restaurant was empty and we were moved to a tall bar-like table. Then when our server came to begin the order we told him that we were there for the 7 course special. A confused look came over his face and he told us he'd be right back. 5 minutes later the restaurant manager came out to us and said "No one mentioned this to me." We explained to him that we told the receptionist when we made the reservation over the phone that morning. He quickly responded, "Well, I'm the manager and no one told me." With apparently no other option we politely left the restaurant, tipped the valet for the whole 10 minutes we were there and went to a much more service oriented restaurant.
I guess the manager believes that his staff couldn't possibly make a mistake. But instead of saying something like, "I'm sorry about that, perhaps my staff forgot to tell me. Let me see what I can do for you.", he decided to be rude and say, "Well, I'm the manager and no one told me."
Sorry, just lost my business.
Very good selection for brunch. The food was great. Service is a bit slow for drinks but the buffet is always stocked.
Repeatedly we enjoy the Sunday brunches bringing friends along, the last time Sunday 10/4/2015.
The food choices and quality for the price is consistently very good, although the chocolate fountain had hardly any fruit left (at 1PM - I am sure it was eventually replenished).
What was a bit disappointing this time besides the higher than usual noise level was the service: the inexperienced, young waitress offered "red or white" wine upon me asking - she said you tell me which wine you want and THEN I tell you which we have. Then she did not attend to us for a long time - her colleague stopped by and took care of us.
When the time came for tea and coffee, she took the cup to fill up with hot water - instead bringing the hot water for tea to the table. That was most unusual and unprofessional.
Otherwise, we were pleased with the food and table and had fun in spite of these little glitches. We'll come again; just recommending to the management to train the staff (better) and probably not much if anything can be done to keep the patrons from being so loud!
Interested in booking a large group for Thanksgiving. Waiting for their menu and price!!
Went there on a Saturday night at about 730.
It had a party or 2 going on upstairs.
The restaurant was pretty empty.
It is a beautiful place with outdoor seating area which i probably nice in warmer weather.
To us it had potential to be amazing & thought it funny it was so empty.
It must be that way often because the poor kid waiter who did his best was over whelmed.
Which is probably why the food especially the seafood which seems to be a specialty there was over cooked.
Potential is there but service personal is important & to over cook every seafood item we ordered is not good.
Hope they know they have to invest in help to get food & drinks out before it goes bad.
Brilliant atmosphere but poorly managed.
There was a good selection of hot entrees(baked fish was flavorful and moist, the chicken parts were the best, bacon, sausage and pasta dishes, roasted turkey at carving station, waffles, one lets made to order, chocolate fountain with fruit and marshmallows got a lot of action & desserts were plentiful)! Reasonable cost per person at $15.95 not including alcoholic drinks. Good for larger groups.
We had dinner on Christmas Eve, The food was very good, but the menu was very limited with uncommon choices, The menu should have been simple. There should have been more help, the poor waiter was overwhelmed.
It is a wonderful beautiful place and would go back again.
I hadn't been there in a while, it appears the chef was changed because the food was less greasy and more tasty. Overall, not bad..
Went to Brunch with my family and made reservations online. They told me I had to call to confirm so they had no spot for me. Even though we were the first ones there and nobody else was in the restaurant. They couldn't find us a table. Unprofessional and unaccommodating.
Terrible service, sketchy crowd, mediocre food. Smoking out on the porch as a rather yucky entrance and exit to boot!
Omelets were excellent. Not greasy. Not too big. Servers were attentive. Empty plates quickly removed.
Somewhat noisy, but acceptable for conversation.
The food was very good. The wait staff didn't rush us out. Everything came out in a good order not rushed. Entertainment was good.
The place was very busy when we got there at 11.30. We had very nice server and once we got our drinks we helped ourselves at the buffet. Very decent brunch for the price that we paid. The set up of the buffet is nice, you can`t miss the chocolate fountain :-) You`ll get about 6 hot entrees to choose from. I liked the pastas and the chicken, they were not dry. Omelet station offers fresh eggs and egg whites. The carving station had good roast turkey breast. My daughters loved the fresh made waffles with ice cream and fruit on top. We `ll be back since I am planning to take my girlfriends out.
