Riverside Manor Restaurant & Banquets Ratings and Reviews
I, for the life of me cannot figure out why more people have not discovered this fabulous restaurant. It is convenient to get to, right off of the Fair Lawn main streets, beautifully decorated, food is delicious, comforting and creative, service polished, attentive but not overbearing, and very enjoyable in so many ways. Do yourself a huge favor and visit this gem. You will thank me for it!
The place was nice and big. Went with a Groupon but didn’t realize it was a specific menu. Nothing was mentioned in the Groupon fine print, normally if there is a special menu it’s shown on the Groupon. The only uncomfortable thing was that the place was completely empty (Thursday night) which was magnified by the fact that it is a large dining area. The food was decent and the waitress was very nice.
We have been here several times over the past couple of years. We have attended the Brunch which is fantastic, open dined, and attended two formal affairs all leading to the same 5 star rating. Food is consistent, service excellent, ambiance beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend.
This restaurant is just okay and, if you have good Italian close to you, then no need to travel! The ambiance is as mismatched as the menu--everything from casual to upscale. There was nothing stellar and we didn't even take the leftovers...it was very flat and non-remarkable. We have a certificate, but will not be back to use it.
Restaurant is beautiful, well maintained and romantic
Historic building with interesting spaces. Food was phenomenal and beautifully presented
Wait staff was charming and well trained. A real find for groups or dates. I loved every minute of my dining experience and will definitely be back!
We had a voucher from living social for a 7 course meal with wine pairing. When I made the reservation over the phone I made sure I mentioned the voucher so that there would be no issues with preparation. When we got to the restaurant we were seated directly next to a big family party with children running all over the place. We asked to be re-seated since 80% of the restaurant was empty and we were moved to a tall bar-like table. Then when our server came to begin the order we told him that we were there for the 7 course special. A confused look came over his face and he told us he'd be right back. 5 minutes later the restaurant manager came out to us and said "No one mentioned this to me." We explained to him that we told the receptionist when we made the reservation over the phone that morning. He quickly responded, "Well, I'm the manager and no one told me." With apparently no other option we politely left the restaurant, tipped the valet for the whole 10 minutes we were there and went to a much more service oriented restaurant.
I guess the manager believes that his staff couldn't possibly make a mistake. But instead of saying something like, "I'm sorry about that, perhaps my staff forgot to tell me. Let me see what I can do for you.", he decided to be rude and say, "Well, I'm the manager and no one told me."
Sorry, just lost my business.
Repeatedly we enjoy the Sunday brunches bringing friends along, the last time Sunday 10/4/2015.
The food choices and quality for the price is consistently very good, although the chocolate fountain had hardly any fruit left (at 1PM - I am sure it was eventually replenished).
What was a bit disappointing this time besides the higher than usual noise level was the service: the inexperienced, young waitress offered "red or white" wine upon me asking - she said you tell me which wine you want and THEN I tell you which we have. Then she did not attend to us for a long time - her colleague stopped by and took care of us.
When the time came for tea and coffee, she took the cup to fill up with hot water - instead bringing the hot water for tea to the table. That was most unusual and unprofessional.
Otherwise, we were pleased with the food and table and had fun in spite of these little glitches. We'll come again; just recommending to the management to train the staff (better) and probably not much if anything can be done to keep the patrons from being so loud!
Went there on a Saturday night at about 730.
It had a party or 2 going on upstairs.
The restaurant was pretty empty.
It is a beautiful place with outdoor seating area which i probably nice in warmer weather.
To us it had potential to be amazing & thought it funny it was so empty.
It must be that way often because the poor kid waiter who did his best was over whelmed.
Which is probably why the food especially the seafood which seems to be a specialty there was over cooked.
Potential is there but service personal is important & to over cook every seafood item we ordered is not good.
Hope they know they have to invest in help to get food & drinks out before it goes bad.
Brilliant atmosphere but poorly managed.
There was a good selection of hot entrees(baked fish was flavorful and moist, the chicken parts were the best, bacon, sausage and pasta dishes, roasted turkey at carving station, waffles, one lets made to order, chocolate fountain with fruit and marshmallows got a lot of action & desserts were plentiful)! Reasonable cost per person at $15.95 not including alcoholic drinks. Good for larger groups.
We had dinner on Christmas Eve, The food was very good, but the menu was very limited with uncommon choices, The menu should have been simple. There should have been more help, the poor waiter was overwhelmed.
It is a wonderful beautiful place and would go back again.
Went to Brunch with my family and made reservations online. They told me I had to call to confirm so they had no spot for me. Even though we were the first ones there and nobody else was in the restaurant. They couldn't find us a table. Unprofessional and unaccommodating.
The place was very busy when we got there at 11.30. We had very nice server and once we got our drinks we helped ourselves at the buffet. Very decent brunch for the price that we paid. The set up of the buffet is nice, you can`t miss the chocolate fountain :-) You`ll get about 6 hot entrees to choose from. I liked the pastas and the chicken, they were not dry. Omelet station offers fresh eggs and egg whites. The carving station had good roast turkey breast. My daughters loved the fresh made waffles with ice cream and fruit on top. We `ll be back since I am planning to take my girlfriends out.
we had great time ,the food is delicious everything taste perfect is restaurant with great ambient you can really enjoy there.is good for small party also next table had birthday party seams that they having really good time.service was outstanding was so busy but the server was on top of everything .great experience highly recommend
I've dined here several times now, and every time we come we have a great experience. Food is always presented impeccably, service is good, and we have a special evening out. It made my night -- and my friend was so delighted with each thoughtful touch that it made for one of the best meals I've ever had! We'll be back soon :)
Ambience, interior decor, service and the food were absolutely amazing. Simple but delish plates combined with fast service. I need to admit i had times that i waited way more for a simple sandwich at lunch.
We started with filet mignon bruschetta which was delicious! I enjoyed my Pork Chop Giambotta a thick cut, very tender. My wife had the Pistachio crusted salmon with sauteed garlic spinach which she enjoyed. Our friends had King filet mignon and Linguine Vongole. They seemed to enjoy it all. The bread that they served was just amazing!!! We asked which bakery was it from and since the bakery does not sell to public we bought couple loafs right there. The place is very convenient on the highway. Will be definitely back! :-)
We got a last minute reservation for 7 PM on a Friday night. Now we know why...the spinach salad had nothing to write home about, the pizza was ordinary and the pan seared tilapia was extremely salty. The deserts looked store bought, even though they're listed as homemade. The bread, which was great and fresh, was provided by another restaurant. It is pretty inside and I imagine if it ever is full, the dining room gets pretty loud. But we will never find out becasue we won't go back.
The food was great but they did not have enough servers to accomodate a Sunday night dining crowd. The food (although good) took forever to reach the table and once it was dropped off, they did not come back to ask if everything was ok or to take away plates when finished. My children went to the bar to get their own refills of coke and were told that they had to ask their server. They apologized and said they had a party going on upstairs. When I am paying for my dinner I don't want to hear about how they are taking care of a party upstairs which is delaying mine. My son insisted on going there for his birthday dinner but I will definitley think twice about granting his birthday wish for dinner there ever again.
