Rivers Restaurant, located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, offers fine dining on the roaring Fork. The restaurant focuses on serving fine game, beef and seafood. You can also enjoy many options on the gluten-free menu at River Restaurant if your diet requires it. Early bird specials are available each day. These consist of three courses, one of which is dessert. There is also occasional live music available on some nights.
If you are coming in for dinner at Rivers Restaurant, you can enjoy appetizers like Colorado lamb meatballs, flash fried calamari and corn chowder. A popular entre is the blacked pork loin with caramelized apples. A great way to end the evening is to try the Trinity cream trio, with chocolate, lavender and pistachio.
Great food with quality pricing. We would go back there for sure!
The butternut squash hash was flavorful and interesting. The "citrus" crusted cod was not. The cod had absolutely no flavor, but was crunchy. There wasn't even hint of citrus. It was an average dinner experience for an above average price.
Always love this place. Was surprised they weren’t doing anything for Fat Tuesday tho. Our server was really friendly and fun. Sorry we didn’t get her name. Deck in summer is great.
Scallops were perfectly cooked! Often restaurants overlook them.
We enjoyed our monthly brunch as much as ever We'll be back in mid-March
We go everytime we are in town and it is always perfect.
Valentine's Day specials were varied and tasted great. Service was top notch. Seemed extra crowded beyond numbers of people. Might have put in extra tables for Valentine's day. Seems slightly noisy maybe due to nature of the floor. Great location next to Roaring Fork River.
It was the perfect evening celebrating a birthday @ Rivers Restaurant.
Perfect ambiance, perfect food, perfect service.
Enjoyed the specialty cocktails as well.
Finished the evening off w/ the trio of crime brûlée.
My favorite is the lavender cream brûlée.
New Years Eve at Rivers Restaurant was a great experience. Lots of festive decor plus hats and horns with Marci Gras beads as table decorations. Missed our young waiter’s name, but he was classically attentive and a great personality ready to banter with our foursome from the outset. The Brie was a great starter flavored with fruit jams and tasty crackers. We loved the assorted salad selections, which were sized perfectly for our appetites before the six shrimp pasta and the grilled trout entrees arrived. The Sauvignon Blanc was a good choice plus a house standard Chardonnay kept us all happy followed by excellent coffee. We passed on desserts although they did look to be a perfect way to finish a great holiday treat. We were glad we’d made early reservations since all three dining areas were full early on this special evening.
We had excellent service. It was a bit loud (with my children contributing to the noise!) and busy being that it was NYE but the food was excellent. We were seated right away. A lot of gluten free options available. I would go back!
We had a great meal with great service! The atmosphere was good, our server was very prompt and attentive with everything. Will be returning again.
We had to wait awhile to get a drink in the bar, but the bartender was really busy and alone with a crowded restaurant. She was awesome though! Our server was very nice and the food was delicious! Would go again if we didn’t live in California.
Great food and service
If I had only one restaurant to choose from, this is THE restaurant in Glenwood Springs to go to!
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Loved the whole experience.
We try to have a Sunday Brunch every month around our anniversary date We love the ambience the decor the location and the food is always very good
First time here - very nice restaurant - my wife and I wondered why we had not visited sooner !! We were seated quickly and shortly after that had two very nice glasses of wine a Pinot Grigio and a Cabernet that were very tasty. We ordered nightly specials - sauteed scallops and fish/chips. These were two very nice dishes - better than we expected. The "chips"/fries were especially delicious. I had not really paid attention to the prices of what we ordered but when we got the bill I was reminded - this is a great value as well.
This is a very nice restaurant in a riverside setting with solid, slightly upscale comfort food. We will be back .
We have gone to this restaurant for the past 3 years for their Thanksgiving dinner, this year we were sadly disappointed. The service was horribly slow, they sat us in the bar without asking if is was ok, it was not. The bar was loud, cold, our food was ok but took awhile. It was a small portion for $23 and our waiter took forever with the bill, another server saw us sitting with our coats on and helped with paying the check. We will not be returning, it was not a good holiday experience😕
We enjoyed a beautiful & delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Rivers. Staff was incredible.
We've been coming to Glenwood Springs the week of Thanksgiving for about 12 years, and started dining at the Rivers 4 years ago for Thanksgiving dinner. Wish we had found it sooner! The food and service is always outstanding.
we always enjoy our monthly anniversary celebratory brunch
The food was excellent. It would be great to eat or have drinks on the patio(too cold during our visit) Our waiter Brent was amazing!!
Service was Excellent and food was Fabulous!!!! Loved the atmosphere reminds us of NewEngland Cape Cod where We lived for 30 years!!!! Thank you!!!!
Food was okay, maybe even lackluster. It was overpriced and the service was lacking. The waiter was attentive, but had zero personality. Won't be back.
It was a girls night out to celebrate a Birthday. The staff was attentive. Most of us had the lamb ossco bucco. It was tender and mild, melt in your mouth goodness.
I took my wife to Rivers for her birthday. We had the scallops special, which was delicious. They provided her a complimentary dessert, she chose the Chocolate Decadence and we split it. It was an amazing dessert! The next time we are in Glenwood Springs, we will probably eat here again.
I would like to make sure that our server, Amy, who was amazing, is condoned for her services. She was very, very cordial (given we were unfamiliar with the area), providing options for hikes, etc. I have an allergic reaction to onions and she quickly made sure that onions were not a part of the menu options I was inquiring. My husband and I were so impressed with the food preparation among other things. We came back the next evening, sat at the bar area, and had a wonderful server, Jack, who was also very cordial and put up with my husband well who is one huge SA. The bartender is also wonderful with so much energy and makes good drinks. We will definitely come back - we are planning on a longer stay for future hikes in the spring.
Please pass this on to Amy, Jack, and "D" (not sure how to pronounce her name). It was an awesome experience and very impressive!!
Karen and Greg Brock
Delicious food. We were amazed at how affordable this restaurant is. Great service!
After setting up online they asked if there’s a special occasion and we said yes our 39 year anniversary. They did not acknowledge it??
We were incredibly disappointed by the service when we most recently visited Rivers Restaurant. We have been there many times before and have never been treated poorly before. If it had been our first time there, we would never go back. Now we may go back, but it will not be among our first choices for a special dinner. The lack of attention to diners began when we walked in the door and continued until we left, soon after our entrees had at last been served, a full 1 hour and 45 mins. after we sat down. By that time, my elderly parents and brother, whose birthday we were celebrating, had lost their appetite and just wanted to go home. There was only one waitress, who was doing her best, running around from table to table, trying to serve the entire restaurant, both indoors and on the outdoor deck. She told us that the manager had not scheduled enough staff to handle the number of expected diners (there was no bussing of tables either--our appetizer and salad plates were not cleared). This is just bad management. We do not blame the server--she was doing her utmost and was very apologetic. I don't know who was in charge that night, but the blond woman who seated us and seemed to be in charge had an extremely unwelcoming and rude demeanor.
The food, when it finally arrived, was good, but many restaurants have good food. People go to restaurants to be welcomed and served in a timely and respectful manner. Rivers really failed on this occasion.
Beautiful little place off the beaten path. Great riverside dining.
A couple of friends and I enjoyed our dinner immensely! Fabulous food very clean gorgeous view from the balcony! Service was wonderful as well! Can’t recommend this place enough!
Enjoyed dining on the patio overlooking the river. The early bird special lasted till 6:30 and had numerous entree choices and was a good price point. I had the shrimp scampi that was delicious. Too bad they did not have heaters on the patio.
We always enjoy our Sunday Brunch and plan it once a month as an anniversary celebration
Service was average. Had to send fish back to the kitchen. Very greasy food. Wine was average
glenwoods best. And off the beaten path, great food and deck seating
The waitress “had been there since 8 am ans was really tired” per her announcement to our table. She also carried out a giant bottle of Advil and was holding it in front of us. The food was obviously just waiting to be zapped in the microwave. Any potsticker that is cooked and presented 1 minute after ordering is obviously not fresh. The view is beautiful and it is a shame the service and quality did not match the location.
This was a trip to Glenwood with my husband. We walked to this restaurant from our hotel which was convenient. The house mixed greens salad with lemon herb dressing was delicious. It was the perfect balance of dressing and salad. It was ample in size with cucumbers, tomatoes, and carrots. They serve homemade biscuits with flavored butter. We felt the butter was better than the biscuit. (I believe they flavored the butter with whole grain mustard). I mentioned I was gluten-free and the waitress did not offer any bread solutions. If you look at the gluten-free menu online; they do offer rice crackers! She was unconcerned in general about offering suggestions for anything nor did she take the time to explain menu items or specials. We wished we had the waiter because he was taking the time to explain entrees, specials, and wines to the table behind us.
I ordered the vegetarian lasagna which, although it was layered with roasted butternut squash, zucchini, eggplant, red peppers, portabella mushrooms, and garlic, the only thing I could taste was zucchini. Sure, all the other stuff was in there but in less quantities than the zucchini. After a while, I was a bit tired of it. The roasted tomato sauce was nothing to write home about.
My husband ordered the shrimp picatta; 6 Jumbo prawns sautéed with snow white mushrooms, artichoke hearts and capers in lemon white wine sauce over linguine. It was uninspired and sloppy.
The hostess was very friendly and gracious. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the river. I wished the service and food matched the ambiance on the deck. The bar had a displeasing odor to it which wafted out onto the deck. We bailed on dessert feeling that if our dinners were mediocre, so too would they be.
Great date place.
