The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset ... the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly “Artisanal Cocktails”.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Sonoma County. Excellent food, excellent service and incredible views. I've been there many times for dinner and lunch and would recommend it to all. The only drawback is parking is very limited and can be challenging to park alongside the road. I had a choice for dinner at any restaurant for my birthday and I chose River's End.

Made a reservation this past Friday night for my fiances birthday. Asked for a table by the window to enjoy the view in the reservation, since that was the biggest draw to the restaurant. We were sat in the corner in the back of the restaurant so I couldn't really see out. I also noticed that the people who walked in without a reservation right before us were seated at a much nicer table, which was kind of annoying. We ordered the tasting menu and everything was just OK. It wasnt bad, but not worth the $72 per person. On top of that, there was no mention of it being my fiances birthday. Not that we need singing or any of that stuff, but it would have been nice for it to have been acknowledged. Service was fine, the experience was just underwhelming, especially considering the price point.

First time at the restaurant. We will be back! The filet was the best. My wife had the elk and it was incredible. Service was over the top. Overall, well worth it.

The beet salad didn’t taste fresh! My filet had too much blue cheese on it!!! The creme brûlée had chocolate on the bottom. My dinner was gross and so was my husbands duck and chocolate mousse! The view was wonderful. Go for a drink not dinner!!!

Can’t beat the view of the ocean for ambience. The service was outstanding. We didn’t order any main dishes, but the beet and chef’s salads were delicious! Great place for a date :-)

Great location with beautifully water views.
The seafood is always fresh and the long time chef prepares it well. The other menu choices are also terrific and the chef changes the menu depending on what fresh ingredients are available.
I’ll be back

What a gorgeous destination restaurant in the little town of Jenner. Beautiful views, excellent food and very nice staff. Our only complaint was that in order to have the tasting menu, the whole table had to order it. Two of us were very excited about it but our third party member is vegetarian and it wouldn't have been appropriate for her. We were disappointed but so happy with the choices we made.

Our second time at River's End, this time we stayed in one of the cabins for the weekend. From the moment we arrived, the staff was outstanding, making sure our stay was fantastic. We dined there on the last night of our stay and had the best seat in the house, overlooking the deck and incredible sunset. We we asked if we could take our dessert back to our cabin, they were very accommodating. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed being "unplugged" for the weekend and greatly enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I went for a date night and had a lovely time. Our server, Cary (?) was outstanding and helped guide us with both food and wine options. All of the food was really good and the portions were generous! The wine list exceptional, the view unbeatable. We had a very nice evening here.

Overpriced, decor is dated, the view was fantastic from the deck but obstructed view from the the inside. Kind of perplexed as to why it was highly rated.

Wanted to love this place. It was highly recommended from our hosts at the B&B. First off, this is a destination type place. People come here for special occasions etc. the views are extraordinary. Overlook the mouth of the river and the Pacific Ocean. I booked this reservation weeks in advance for my birthday. We arrived to a host that was not mean but not very warm or welcoming. We sat in the perfect place to see the water. Our drinks were good. The food(filet and pasta with prawns) was average. Lacked seasoning. Prices were fair. The waitress gave adequate service but was not very personable. My biggest problem is, how does neither the host or waitress not ask if we were celebrating anything?!?! I definitely put that it was my birthday on open table. It just didn’t feel special like it could’ve been. So we left without desert and went to El Barrio is guerneville for a cocktail.

This is one of our favorite places to eat and tonight was no exception. We chose this resturant for our 50th anniversary celebration and had their Spring tasting menu with Somona County wine pairing...my wife and I agree that it was a wise choice, the food was outstanding and the service friendly and efficient. A memorable evening...we'll be back.

View of the ocean can't be beat. Menu had a good selection. We had the pre-fix, which if you select it, is required for the whole table The lamb was good although small portions. The rest of the pre-fix was good but not remarkable. Again, the view and the small romantic tables is what you go for, although don't expect the staff to make a comment about a special occasion, even if you put it in your reservation.

Requested a nice table as it was our anniversary. Wasn't happy with the table given. Dinner was not as requested. I ordered my filet to be cooked medium well and it was very red. Our waitress never came to check on us until we were done with our dinner. Won't be going back.

The menu was limited, and, $29 for a very mediocre salad. The only food item we found outstanding was the trifle.
The servers seemed very confused about which table to deliver food to. Our waitress was lovely and enounciated very well, but seemed a bit “canned” and impersonal.

Parking was impossible, we were lucky to find a wide spot down the road and walk back up.

Family get together on Easter. Service was friendly, but the start (order and drink arrival) was a bit slow. Appetizers were delicious and of generous serving size. Main dishes were wonderful! We ordered only one dessert, but everyone loved it! The bar drinks were well made, as well. To top it all off, the view is beautiful from anywhere in the restaurant. We all look forward to a return visit.
