About River's End
The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset ... the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly “Artisanal Cocktails”.

River's End Ratings and Reviews
Phenomenal. Always. Service is friendly and casually excellent. Not over done - just perfect. The food is beautiful and generous. I recommend taking a look at the menu before you go so you can plan. Prices are not cheap, but the food isn’t either! It is NOT over priced but it is an expense. Entrees are shareable, so you can enjoy more variety! I could go on forever. I have never had a bad experience here and will always look forward to going back!
This was our second visit to River's End...and it was equally as wonderful as the first time! The menu had changed a bit (seasonal) but the Crab Tasting menu (my choice) was outstanding! Looking back, I wish I had also chosen the wine pairing with it, however our cocktails were great and I had a great glass of wine as well. Due to weather we missed the view of the sunset -however it was a beautiful view just the same. The evening was EXTRA special thanks to our OUTSTANDING server "LEE"....she is a gem....she served us the first time as well, and now after this visit ---we would always request to be seated in her section. Probably one of the best servers I've ever experienced in fine dining. Friendly, knowledgeable, and knows the menu...including the wines! Cheers to "Lee" Thank you for making our dining experience memorable once again and my birthday very special!
Great location and menu. I went there with a friend and we enjoyed watching the ocean and seals. The views are spectacular and the cuisine great. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and told us about the history of the restaurant. The chef is creative and uses local food sources. I will definitely go back again.
Although the restaurant has beautiful views, I don' think they've made any updates to the interior of this restaurant since the 70's. Prices are high for the quality of food, although they tried hard on the presentation of the beet salad, there was hardly any flavor. It did not taste like fresh roasted beets. The Duck confit rolls were fine, and the clams were okay, mostly overcooked clams with loads of sauce and flavor overpowering the overcooked clams. It was just fine, and 3 appetizers with a glass of wine was $80. ouch!
as always a lovely view of the river and the ocean. menu is always fun to look at for new dishes to try as well as some we have had and loved in the past. very fresh ingredients. house made chorizo that is outstanding! we were there on New Years Eve afternoon and it was crowded . tables close together so private conversations couldn't happen. good service. a very special place for every day dining or for a special occasion.
We went after christmas, it was quite packed (even more so than usual). We had the Dungeness crab prix fix menu, which was excellent. The service was slightly less ths perfect, with different servers popping in and out. We did feel slightly rushed, dishes were pulled away as soon as you ate the last bite, or if you put your silverware down for more than 2 to 3 minutes. It was still great with a magnificent sunset of course.
My wife and I spent the day cruising the Sonoma coast and had made reservations early in the day for this cool little spot just after the main area of Jenner. Perfect views that you just get lost in while sitting at your table, someone said they saw a whale! There aren’t a ton of finer dining spots in this area, but Rivers End is definitely a good choice if you’re with another couple or just with your significant other. Food was great, and they offered a huge Dungeness crab menu as well as non seafood options like the pork sandwich I had. There were kids around, but there are much better places around Bodega Bay where a noisy group wouldn’t ruin the atmosphere.
This place was warm and romantic with an incredible sunset seen from our window seat. The service was top notch and the food delicious. Yet the portions were incredibly small for the cost. Overall, the whole experience makes me want to go back and do it all again.
The food, service and ambiance of Rivers End Restaurant is consistently excellent. We have been celebrating birthdays and anniversaries at Rivers End for approximately 15 years and consider it to be our all time favorite dining experience. Highly recommend the crab tasting menu.
River's End is located in Jenner where the Russian River runs into the ocean. The restaurant has a deck overlooking the river and viewing the sunset from there with a drink in your hand, chatting with other travelers, is a wonderful experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is rustic but elegant. Service was a little rushed and I wished someone would have taken drink orders out on the deck, but overall it was fine. The food is a little pedestrian. The beet salad was very nice. The sauce accompanying the duck wonton rolls was overly sweet and the rolls were just ok. The salmon chowder was good but relied too much on cream for my taste. The salmon dish was nice, served over a medley of roasted corn, watermelon, and some other things that I can't remember. Overall, we thought the food ranged from just OK to pretty good, but we will definitely go back for the sunset on the deck.
River's End has been a favorite for many years. The view around sunset is always a show stopper. The service is always good too. the night we were there the specials were king salmon. My fish was excellent but the sides were lacking flavor. I assume they do not use salt. The citris beurre blanc was good. The beet salad was impressive looking, a tower of beets, but again the flavor was boring. This is a wonderful location but next time I will go for drinks and leave after the sunset and go eat somewhere else. Food needs to be flavorful, and I think it lacks it.
