RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Having been here twice before this was our third try. We wanted to give a fair chance. We found the service to consistently be off. The food is creative but poorly executed. Very salty, and too trendy. Raw Oysters with sweet sorbet on top was the breaking point. They certainly try, but they're missing the mark. For the prices the food and service should be much better.
This was my first visit to Rivermarket. The food was delicious and I really like the fact that it is locally sourced, with organic and humanely raised products. The service was attentive and the wait staff was very friendly. The owner dropped by our table to see how we liked our meal. My friend and I wanted to spend a leisurely evening catching up and we were able to sit as long as we wanted. We did not feel rushed. My only criticism - a minor one - is that it is very dark in the restaurant. So it would be a great place for a romantic date but I might have liked a little more light. It is a large space so maybe one corner could be lit a little more. Otherwise - perfect and I will go back.
Beautiful venue. Very loud on a Saturday. Food was outstanding and portions are big. The salad for example was a huge bowl —like an entree portion. For the mussels appetizer, we had at least 20 and the mussels themselves were also big. Then I got a half portion of pasta — and took half home!! Dessert was the best part. We ordered the s’mores.
The heat was broken and they never told us when they confirmed. We were wearing jackets, hats and gloves. They had space heaters that did nothing and they apologized once but made no effort to accommodate - ie bring tea etc. Also the restaurant was empty and the service was still incredibly slow.
Very Noisy ! Could barely carry on a conversation. I found a large shard of plastic in my fettuccine....the manager was very nice, offered to cook another meal for me and removed the meal from our bill. Still extremely off putting. We are from out of town and I would not go back.
HAD MY OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY AND WAS HAPPY WITH THE EVENT. WENT BACK WITH A COUPLE FRIENDS FOR DINNER AND THE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT SO GOO.
WE WERE SEATED AND AFTER A BIT, WE WERE GREETED BY OUR WAITER. AFTER THAT INITIAL INTRO IT SEEMED LIKE HE DISAPPEARED. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET HIS ATTENTION AND IN FACT AT ONE POINT WE HAD TO ASK ANOTHER WAITER FOR A DRINK. THIS WAS OUR EXPERIENCE FOR THE BALANCE OF THE DINNER. i UNDERSTAND A WAITER CAN GET BUSY, SO i CHECKED AROUND US AND NOTICED LOTS OF EMPTY TABLES IN HIS SECTION, SO BEING BUSY WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE KIND OF PRICES THEY ARE ASKING EVERYTHING BETTER BE EXCEPTIONAL AND IT WAS NOT. I GET BETTER ATTENTION AT A LOCAL RESTAURANT THAT REALIZES WE ARE THE PAYING CUSTOMERS. WE ARE A CASUAL GROUP, BUT LIKE TO DRINK, EAT GOOD FOOD AND HAVE A GOOD TIME AND WHEN WE DO WE ARE VERY GENEROUS TO THE WAIT STAFF.
THE DRINKS WERE EXPENSIVE FOR THEIR SIZE. COCKTAILS COULD NOT HAVE COME IN A SMALLER CLASS AND THE WINE POURS WERE THE SAME, SMALL. SEEMS LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO SQUEEZE OUT AN EXTRA GLASS OF WINE FROM EACH BOTTLE.
WE ALL HAD APPETIZERS AND I THINK MY WIFE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO REALLY ENJOYED HERS WHICH WAS A WEDGE SALAD (HARD TO MESS THAT UP).
AS FAR AS ENTREES, THE SIZE OF THE PORTIONS WERE EXTREMELY SMALL FOR THE VERY HIGH PRICES. MY BUDDY HAD THE SCALLOPS, ONLY 4 OF THEM AND THE PRICE TAG WAS VERY HIGH. I THINK OR I WOULD GUESS MY WIFE'S SALMON COULD NOT HAVE BEEN 4 OZ AND AGAIN NOT INEXPENSIVE. I HAD THE GNOCCHI AND ALTHOUGH THE PORTION WAS REASONABLE, IT WAS MUSHY AND COLD.
IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL CHARGING THE KIND OF PRICES THEY DO, EVERYTHING BETTER BE AS CLOSE TO PERFECT AS POSSIBLE AND THAT WAS NOT THE CASE.
TO THE PERSON, MY ENTIRE PARTY AGREED THERE ARE LOTS OF BETTER OPTIONS IN WESTCHESTER WELL BELOW THE PRICE POINT OF RIVERMARKET AND I DO NOT THINK ANY OF US WILL BE RETURNING SOON, AND WE ARE A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO GO OUT TO EAT A LOT.
Food and service were very good. Disappointing were a limited wine-by-the-glass selection and overall ambience. While the space appears thoughtfully designed, the noise level - even with the restaurant half full - made table conversation difficult. Also the fluorescent lighting creates a cold, blue/gray ambience. Candles on tables help but not enough. Recommend warmer lighting and better noise absorption.
Great place for lunch, brunch or dinner. Professional staff.
My friend and I both had the veggie burger. We are not vegetarians. The burger, served on a quality roll appeared to be mainly beets, even though the menu said farro and other items. It was very tasty but fell apart and really had to be eaten with a fork. Needs more glue! Fries were cooked perfectly and were plentiful.
Sauvignon blanc wine went perfectly. The waiter made sure it was properly chilled.
We will definitely return and bring bibs if we order this burger again.
We went here to celebrate my birthday. Although the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all, the service was painfully slow and inattentive. When it finally arrived, the food was mediocre. They charged $14 for a kids portion of pasta and charged for the scoop of ice cream we had to ask them to bring for my birthday. Very disappointed with this terrible birthday experience. Do not recommend at all.
The food is not good. Second time there and hoping wild like the food. Steak tartare awful, burgers were raw even asking we wanted well done. Pizza dough not good. Really don't know why the place is voted as one of the best of westchester. Believe it is because of location and decor. Food is awful.
We had a great lunch at RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen. It was our first visit to the restaurant and new complex, but we definitely plan to go back for dinner sometime soon. The space is lovely -- rustic and comfortable with great views of the river and new bridge. The menu is eclectic, but includes enough choices that anyone could find something they liked. I had delicious eggs benedict with salmon and my husband said his chicken burger was excellent. The fries were outstanding as was the bread. We bought a loaf to take home from their small market in the front of the restaurant. Service was top-notch as well. A definite winner to add to our Westchester dining options.
Went to RiverMarket on a Friday evening. Terrific menu and high quality food. High-energy atmosphere, and a great place to have in the local area. The service comes and goes, primarily because everyone is specialized. The person who refills water glasses seems to do nothing else, and so on. It's probably better to go there with a group. It's a fun, loud place, but it's hard to carry on a one-on-one conversation because of the noise level.
I have a love/hate relationship with Rivermarket. And I have left feedback both in good times and in bad. Of 3 meals served on Sunday I was the only one unhappy. I ordered French Toast and asked for the bacon crisp. What i was served was one piece of burned bacon and one piece of burned French toast and one bacon and one toast that were just ok. The kitchen or server should have done some quality control. Butterscotch pudding delicious and gnocchi also good.
