Very high prices for poor service and so so food. Would not go again.
really dull... a step above TGIF...must be more interesting places nearby.
I always enjoy River Marker Bar & Kitchen, so I had a colleague meet me there for brunch this past Sunday. I have always had outstanding service in the past but this time it was not so good. I asked our server if they had a Cava and she didn't know what that was. Instead of inquiring about that, she began talking down to me as if there is no such thing--asking me if I meant _______. No, I meant exactly what I asked for Cava--Spanish bubbly. I ended up getting Proseco, but I did not like her assumption that because she did not know the wine I asked for I must be mispronouncing something else or otherwise don't know what I am talking about. That was bad service. All she had to do was check, and then say sorry, we don't have cave, may I suggest Proseco or champagne. Deciding that a patron is ignorant just because SHE never heard of Cava just showed her own ignorance. Thumbs down on this server.
beautiful place and food was outstanding. Had an amazing time.
Very disappointing! Have been to River Market often and the food has always been very good. This time, we had to send an entree back, the calzone was doughy and soggy and overall not very good.
Restaurant was busy corner we sat in was private but a bit drafty.
Otherwise no major complaints.
Food is always consistent and enjoyable staff is attentive & friendly!
Love the decor, very authentic. Great food and liquor selection. Service is top notch.
Amazing place. We love the food. The service and the restaurant is beautiful.
Went for restaurant week. Excellent food and ambiance, and loved shopping the little market afterwards.
I celebrated my birthday here and it was a great experience. The potato gnocchi was absolutely delicious and pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. I do agree the noise level is high during the peak of dining hour but if you make reservations towards the end of the dinner rush it does quiet down.
This was my third time at RiverMarket so obviously I liked it enough to bring back my friends. When making my reservation, days ahead, I requested a window table. The choice when we got there was the partial window table right behind the hostess desk or a middle table. We took the middle table. It was very noisy with a lot of hustling all around. The waitress kept coming over to take our dinner order, but we weren't quite ready since we were catching up with friends. On the third try she said they have reservations all night and would need the table soon for the next reservation. I commented that I too made a reservation and didn't think there was a time restraint. We were served drinks and a piece of bread. I noticed other tables got a basket of bread ... why the difference? We ordered appetizers and dinner which were delicious. For dessert we all ordered ice cream. When they served us dessert, each on a huge plate, the little scoop got lost, and we were all amazed at the small portion. I mentioned our surprise to the waitress and she said, "You can always order another serving." I'm feeling a little ambivalent about our experience. Previously I had been there for lunch and didn't have the same feeling. I will try again since only 1 out of my 3 times left me a bit disappointed.
I will never go back here they are overpriced and have poor service. The portions they gave us were ridiculously small! The waitress got an attitude when she was asked to separate the bill into 3. Just not a good experience and we were celebrating a bday. I much prefer to go to Half Moon or other restaurants in the area.
Was not thrilled with our experience. My boyfriend did say it was THE best salmon he ever had but it general the experience was, for me, average to below average.
Service ruined this meal. The waitress was terrible.
Great place. Great food. They need more help. Great outdoor dining as well and you can take your dog.
Ordered the Margarita pizza ..Burger &fries..expresso's...chocolate chip cookies to go. As always everything was just great. Well worth the money. And the Riverwalk after just tops it off.
Beautiful restaurant with wonderful scenery and a great walk nearby. Close to the Tarrytown Station and perfect for meeting friends who want to get out of NYC.
Great place! Cozy and fun on a cold rainy evening in Tarrytown. Lots of terrific local fairs in their gift shop. Everyone welcoming and efficient. Food was great especially the Tuna Tartar! Nutella brownie
I always have a great meal here
The server took ten minutes to get to our table, but that's only because my wife went to the host stand to ask if we actually had a server. The hosts were surly, but we did eventually get a visit from our waiter. She launched straight into her spiel without a single word of apology for keeping us waiting. I get it, servers get busy. But the least they can do is apologize.
Trip to Lyndhurst Castle
Great spot, great food, and terrific service. (Only thing I didn't like was my specialty drink ("Fountain of Youth?"))
We love Rivermarket and have been there many times. Food is great!
But...the noise level has become almost intolerable. We were celebrating our daughters 28th birthday...so it wasn't just a table of aging baby-boomers.
We could not hear each other at all, hardly able to have any conversation.
I don't know how this can be addressed but I sure hope it can.
The point of going out for dinner is to eat amazing food and also connect with the others at the table.
We had theater tickets and were pressed for time. Our server was fantastic and got us out in plenty of time. The food, as always, was excellent
I thought the food was very overpriced. The burger was well done, asked for medium-rare. It is also very noisy. It's a big room and no buffer for noise.
Disappointed as the service was subpar; slow, negligent and snooty. This glamorous diner oozes upstate pretentiousness. From the condescending server, to the snotty high school bussers, to the overinflated prices, the only “salvation” was the food itself. Just above average for the nominal price of 20 some odd dollars per plate, just to arrive upwards of 30-40 mins later during the slower hours of a restaurant’s service on an observed holiday. As I depart, as I would hate to leave in vain, I’d like to leave behind a piece of advice. While it is lovely to have family to come and visit you at your place of employment, your work obligations still apply. Yapping with your mommies and aunties for purposeless amounts of time speaking loudly in empty conversation hurts your service and creates an unpalatable atmosphere.
Not ready for prime time. Huge line by the hostess when we arrived. Took 10 minutes just to make our way to check-in. Told they were just turning over the table and to give them a few minutes. Waited for over 20 minutes for our table by the hostess station with a number of other guests. No check-in from the hostess or update on timing. Place seemed in total chaos. We ended up leaving and going to eat somewhere else.
We arrived at our reservation time and had to wait about 20 more minutes to get seated. Once we got a table, everything was great. Cocktails were excellent and there was a great beer list. The food was amazing and our server was exceptional.
It was a fun place with a good environment and the food was good. It is in a stand alone location with no other shops or things going on. However the river walk near the restaurant was a walk every one should take. It is a good way to get rid of some dinner calories . We would go again
The restaurant was extremely busy being a Saturday night and we were a party of four. They brought my husband’s meal and mine out way before our friend’s meal and they only ordered the pizza. By the time their pizza came, my husband and I were done eating. They did recognize this and removed the pizza off the bill. My steak was very good but my shrimp cocktail was actually thawing out and quite warm like it had been sitting for a while. Not very satisfied for such an expensive dinner.
I was disappointed with this restaurant. We checked in with the hostess and went to the bar to wait for our other guests. The bartenders were not very pleasant or welcoming and it took 15 minutes to get a glass of wine and a beer. The food was mediocre--I was told the pizzas were amazing and they did look great (I have celiac and couldn't try it). Gluten Free options were very limited. For the amount of money we spent, I would absolutely NOT go back.
Small brunch menu but everything was amazing, especially my bloody maria!
The house salad was wonderful, and my Fettucini Primavera delicious. My friend ordered the Gnudi pasta dish, but the olive crumble made it too salty for her to eat. I suggest they rinse the olives before processing into the recipe.
Really like the new menu. Great food. Polished, friendly service.
This is my 5th time to this restaurant and I keep hoping it will get better.
It’s such a cute spot and the menu seems great but then the orders are always wrong, the service is not great, and for the price of your $50 salad it should be a meal that makes you go Mmmmm can’t wait to come back. And yet it’s just okay.
I think I’m done wishing this place will be better than it is.
Good food but very expensive for what it was.
I had the Salmon Benedict and it was delicious. Great service!
