RiverHouse Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation for my four year Anniversary and it was a magical night. The food was wonderful. Ambiance was romantic, even watched the sunset gleaming off the water. Service was superb as well. Made for a perfect night. I would definitely recommend it to all my friends :)
Service was slow to start, after that acceptable. Servers are friendly which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Food was average, and for that a touch too expensive. The good thing is that it is not noisy, so one can have a conversation while eating or afterwards. The setting is good, parking plentiful and so you get away from the huzzle and buzzle of downtown or more centrally located restaurants.
My wife's salmon burger was good.
My Ribs were warmish, at best and the coleslaw was at room temperature (should have been cool or cold).
The service was minimal with no water refills and my wife had to go find the waitress in order to get a finger bowl for the ribs (it arrived cold).
We so enjoy the Riverhouse.. Always a good meal and always a pleasant greeting..Outside or inside you can' go wrong.
Their Citrus salad dressing is to die for...
would like to see a larger version of their side salad as it is very tasty..
Seafood club is a winner...
Before submitting this review, I did submit an email to the restaurant, to which I didn't receive a response. Let's start with the good. The view is amazing, and the patio is spectacular. I've been several times, and if you're going for beer and a burger, or appies on the patio, it's a good choice. However, if you're going for the restaurant and a nice dinner, the Riverhouse has made some cuts recently (between March and now) that are noticable, and detract from the dining experience greatly. We went for a birthday dinner, and we usually order a drink first, then dinner. We said to our waitress that we'll start and when we're about 1/2 way done our drink, we'll order dinner. We were done our drink and waited a good 15 minutes for our waitress to come take our food order. Things were very slow. We had our kids with us, and asked her about the kids prime rib, which we ordered in March. She said no, it's not on the menu, and when we said we'd had it before, she went and asked, and sure enough, it was available. My 12 year old opted for an adult meal, so we didn't have that. But in a nice restaurant, why not give the kids more than chicken fingers? The real bad part came when our meals came. The prime rib, while delicious, came with INSTANT POTATOES. So we paid $39 for prime rib, only to come with fake potatoes? The real kicker is that when you drive in, you have potato fields on both sides of the road. In March, the potatoes were real. So maybe $39 for a meal is not enough to be able to serve real potatoes with your food. At any rate, I am disappointed I never heard back from the restaurant, and hate to slag a local restaurant in the process, but I probably won't be back unless someone tells me they're serving real potatoes. I can deal with a 2 hour dinner but when I am spending top dollar for a meal, I expect everything on the plate to be real, not fake.
We had visited your restaurant several years ago at a friend's suggestion and we enjoyed it. So it has been awhile since we visited. However, we decided to bring that friend for her birthday and were not disappointed. The staff were great and the service was great and we did appreciate the Birthday treat. Thank you
The server was very pleasant but unfortunately very slow in attending to our needs. Our prawn appetizer took over 30 minutes to arrive at our table and dinner was almost a full hour from the time we ordered. One diner had the cheese board as an entre that offered roasted garlic. The garlic was basically raw and inedible. 2 of us had prime rib. The plating looked nice but the meat was tough (I chose not to finish mine), and the vegetable sides were very undercooked. 4th guest did not get their seafood casserole until the rest of us were half way through our meals. Sadly, a 'sorry' from the server is not really a satisfactory response. I doubt it was her fault.
Waited forever for coffee at the end of the meal. Dinner for 5 was $280 including wine, and a tip. A lot of money for what we got.
Service was deplorable as we waited almost 30 minutes to get a drink and were forced to order food at the same time to avoid further wait time. It did not seem terribly busy and honestly no reason for such a wait ..food was good but paid 17.00 for a very mediocre salad. All in all would not recommend
Our first server messed up our order on three items and didn't even know the menu. Took a long time to come back to us with answers. Luckily a senior server took over and was great. I have heard this complaint from several friends. I will still go back though.
My wife and I went to the Riverhouse on an impulse and we were not disappointed. We have been to there many times and it is always enjoyable. The wine list, service and scenery from the deck were all first rate. It was a warm spring evening and the sunset over the marina was outstanding.
We were a party of 8 there for a family birthday. Although the restaurant was rather empty, they crammed us into a table that comfortably seats 6 in a corner. The drinks were slow arriving, the service in general was very slow and the food was very spicy even though there was no mention of spice in the menu. My husband's roast beef was over done and the accompanying side order of seafood to go with the beef didn't arrive until he was nearly finished his meal. It states on the menu and website that groups of 8 or more are automatically charged a gratuity of 18% (which is fine) but we felt that the service was lacking and they didn't care because they knew they were getting a gratuity regardless of the quality of the service. I'd heard about this restaurant for some time and wanted to give it a try, but sadly it's not a "do-again". Very disappointing considering that it's rather pricey.
This was to be a lovely Mother's Day Lunch. The Buffet looked like it was thrown together both cold and hot tables, stuck just by the kitchen. The hot food was cold, eggs benny were totally cold and hard and the sausage was hard as a rock. There were at least two undefined mystery dishes in cold warming trays. For $35/person it was a terrible meal and experience. Also if you are going to offer crab legs you should at least provide utensils to crack the little devils.
Beer was okay however.
Always welcoming, no rush or pressure to order, when we were ready to order, waitress was
delightful. Food was excellent as usual. Salmon sliders were amazing. My guest had never been here before, and really wants to dine here again! Definitely worth the drive and always
a wonderful experience!
We were very disappointed with the Sunday Bruch. To start off there was no menu. This made it a bit difficult because you had to remember what the waitress (who was the best thing about the restaurant) said and make up your mind right away. My food was cold when it arrived, however the waitress was kind enough to have the kitchen warm it up for me. The of my friends had the eggs benedict with seafood, there food was not as cold as mine but it was not warm. We used to have the restaurant on our "we love it" list. Now it will be on our "maybe we'll try it again" list.
Visited restaurant based on special advertised, attractively priced menu. Menu list presented did not show advertised specials, causing some problems when bill was presented. We suggest advertised specials are presented together with regular menu to avoid confusion.
