River Stone Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
This place is always amazing. We have been for dinner and we have been for the Sunday brunch! This was the second time we had been for brunch and we noticed they took our suggestions (from the very first one) and improved them, which showed us how much they actually care about their guests. The food is always amazing weather we have brunch or dinner. Be prepared to put a hole in your wallet if you go for dinner. In the end absolutely worth it! The brunch is a different story. $25 a person for an absolutely delicious buffet (don’t think Golden Corral when you think buffet at this place either) style meal and you are winning! The mimosas are $3 each (for the normal OJ and champagne, they do have more fancy ones as well) though I don’t think it’s worth it. They are quite small. There is an awesome omlett bar as well where they have a chef making omelette with your choice of toppings. Ultimately I would 100% recommend this place for Brunch as well as dinner!
HERE'S WHAT I LEFT ON YELP:
My 91 year old mom took me here Christmas Eve for my Christmas gift. Neither of us had been here before. The focaccia bread was doughy and wasn't warm. It had only a hint of rosemary. My mom ordered cajun shrimp. Six shrimp and fries for $32.00! Nothing special. I had the crab stuffed trout. $32.00. There was probably a tablespoon of stringy crabmeat in the dish. Again the trout wasn't the least bit warm and the mushroom rice, actually the whole dish was bland, no seasoning. We also ordered a side of collards to share. $9.00. They were okay but only slightly warm. The manager (dressed rather sloppily) and waiter came by once each but didn't ask how we liked the meal. Its a very nice building and the staff were nice. But this place is way over priced and the quality wasn't anything special. We won't return and I would recommend you skip this place if you're looking for something special.
I was disappointed in the lamb chops as they were over cooked, when ordered medium rare. Two others in my party of six were unhappy with their filet mignon as they too, were over cooked and dry. The broccolini was burned and served that way, this item was removed from my bill. My party had to ask for beverage refills which were finally refilled after the meal. Service was very slow as we waited thirty minutes to place our order. However, when I received the bill I checked it to confirm its accuracy. The gratuity was included at 20%, which I understood since I did have a party of six, however when I was given the credit card receipt to sign, the itemized bill was excluded that showed the gratuity. The receipt had the total line and a tip line. If I had not know the gratuity was already included, I could have mistakenly added additional gratuity. The following day I have to call for an itemized bill, which was sent via email. I feel that this was quite underhanded in either the business practice of the Chop house, or a dishonest employee. Regardless, I will not be returning.
My husband and I recently had dinner at the River Stone Chophouse. The description of the Wedge Salad and Lobster Stew sounded inviting so I decided to make that my dinner.
The salad was beautifully plated and delicious. In the future I will ask for the dressing on the side. My husband said his house salad was excellent. The accompanying bread was OK but a bit doughy for our preference.
The real disappointment, really disaster, was the lobster stew. It had no “stew” qualities – no rich favorable base. It consisted of various al dente vegetables in a light tomato broth. And there was absolutely no lobster meat or any other seafood. Not even a hint of seafood flavor. I had called the restaurant the day before to ask about the stew and was told it contained chunks of lobster meat as well as vegetables. I also asked our waiter about it before ordering and he said the same. To top it off, the broth was extremely salty.
My husband ordered the fish special of black sea bass which was reasonably priced by Chophouse prices -- $22. The well-presented plate contained two medium sized filets of bass over a serving of rice which was moderately covered with a white sauce. The whole dish was exceptional. Amazing what can be done with an inexpensive fish. My husband ate half of it; then traded with me. He likewise could not eat the stew because of the abundance of salt and could find no seafood. And he likes salty dishes. We informed our waiter. Immediately the Manager came to our table, listened to us, and took the item off our bill. He was most pleasant. Earlier he had walked through the dining room, stopping at the tables to talk with the patrons, us included.
First, let me say that Riverstone is a favorite restaurant; we love eating there & know we'll always have a fabulous experience, whether sharing great food with friends or a special occasion; this time, Restaurant Week with a special menu. Our server was absolutely excellent: professional, knowledgeable & personable--as were all the careful & attentive staff. The wine list is magnificent; we choose a wonderful Molly Dooker. The special menu looked good too, with 4 choices for each course. That being said, the food was uncharacteristically uneven. Very good was the Delmonico with a couple of sides. The shrimp cocktail seemed to be frozen/defrosted--and this place has a wonderful raw bar! The other starter, lobster stew, was really flavorful with a decent amount of lobster, BUT at least half the cup was filled with large potato chunks. The coffee-rubbed sirloin was fine, a bit gristly but cooked to order; however, its basalmic blueberry glaze was far too sweet & not complimentary to the meat. The side of scalloped potatoes was a sheer disaster: undercooked potatoes, too many (undercooked) onions, and burned on top. Desserts were also not successful. Carrot "cake" was a slender, soggy layer drowned in syrupy golden raisins and coconut along with a too-sugary glaze; no discernable cream cheese. Cookie Monster Cheesecake was an oreo crust with a bit of chocolate-chip-filled cheesecake filling, overwhelmed with chocolate sauce and more chips (those were pretty good, crunchy and hollow). We should've gone with the creme brulee, always a success. Some of these dishes were simply trying too hard to be creative... Unfortunately, we regularly visit exceptionally creative places, and RS suffers by comparison. They need to stick to their superb chophouse menu! In spite of last night's experience, we really enjoy RS and confidently look forward to our next meal there. We urge everyone to try their regular menu!
As indicated in my review, the atmosphere was great for my Wife and I and I would highly recommend it to all my friends and family.
I would like to give two thumbs up on our server, Brittany* (spelling), she was awesome, attentive and very personable. All servers should be like her! I believe she was the "cherry topping" for the great service received. Thanks Brittany (hope you get this) and CONGRATS.
This was our fourth visit to Riverstone, as we go there for special occasions, and this was our 30th anniversary. We started at the bar for a cocktail, and enjoyed watching the chef prepare the shellfish dishes, while he explained the differences between the local oysters.
After our drinks, we were seated, and met Charlie, who served us. Charlie was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, specials and very accommodating with our special requests for the dinner. The food was outstanding (ribeye and KC strip), perfectly prepared and delicious. The service was also outstanding, as Charlie did not intrude on our conversation, but seemed to know exactly when to appear table side. As a special touch after the meal, Charlie brought us champagne and fruit on the house. The manager stopped by during our meal to make sure everything was fine.
Riverstone will continue to be the place we go to celebrate special occasions, and we are looking forward to the next special event to celebrate!
brought my neighbor for his 75th Birthday. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was amazing! I had the best Cobia I have ever had and my friend had the most massive serving of BBQ bacon wrapped meatloaf. it was all very good. They even presented him with a small bowl of ice cream with a candle to complete his birthday celebration!
Well worth the cost and the trip. Wont be disappointed!
