great venue. sat outside. beautiful day. waitress was great, server alittle confused, or didnt care. Overall , fun time
Food and wait staff were great. The hostess was confusing and even with a reservation and empty tables we waited 20-30 minutes for a table.
Unfriendly table seating staff.
Food was cold.
Prime Rib Steak was almost rare (waitress did not asked how to prepare the steak.
I was hoping to be more excited with our meal, but everything was somewhat dry and not that flavorful.
Food delicious- cosmopolitan drink very bad - they try to clear the plates too soon and keep returning and trying again - most annoying- friendly waitress
Went with my family for my dad’s 75th birthday. It was our 1st time. Unfortunately we didn’t initially get to sit on the patio for dinner but put our name down for the wait list and we were able to close our bill out and enjoy dessert outside. It was a beautiful day! Amazing views of the river. Dinner was excellent! Quality food! We had the large rotisserie chicken and 3 sides of different veggies. Everything was delicious! Service was great. Wait staff very attentive. I had the bannana/strawberry ice cream. My other family members had the key lime pie and s’mores ice cream sandwich. Large portions and everyone enjoyed their dessert. Overall great experience. Definitely recommend if you are in the city.
We chose to do the family style option. The roast beef was excellent. The chicken was good. We also had the brussel sprouts which were ok. The corn was superb. The serving staff were great.
Food is good, just too much of it. My server was very pleasant but did not help me understand, when I ordered two sides, that one side was enough for two or more. Especially when I discussed getting a small appetizer and she referred me to the tomato and artichoke salad. It was very good but not small at all. The beef was done beautifully.
We went for a bd celebratory lunch, excellent food , recommend the pesto bread
Celebratory work luncheon. Could not have had a better time.
Beautiful day, sat outside. Our expectations were high as we had held our daughter’s wedding reception for 225 shortly after it opened and the food was wonderful. An exceptional night.
The service was attentive and prompt. We shared fried chicken appetizer and wedge salad. Both of these were very good. However , the stuffed pablano was a disappointing dish, as was the pork. Bland. The sauce tasted more of flour than the intended flavors. We thought the hamburger at the next table looked a lot more appetizing.
The cinnamon apple cobbler was also lacking in flavor. And way too much for two people.
Great location! Right along the river walk. The food was tasting even thought we just shared a bunch of the small plates and sides. I do wish they had a better cocktail menu but overall it was a good 1st time visit
Great business lunch place
Amazing everything !
Beautiful view. Delicious flavors. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying more items on the menu.
I would definitely return. Great food and atmosphere.
Sat on the patio, loved the food and drinks while watching the river traffic and chatting. The brunch menu had some great choices-everything was good.
Prime rib sandwich of the day was fantastic!
We booked it for the view, and got sat by the kitchen which was unfortunate, but what was more unfortunate was the service and food. Our server was nice, but very inexperienced missing orders, giving people the wrong drinks, etc. The food was just OK plus they were out of some of their core menu items.
Great jazz trio was an unexpected treat. Food and service were excellent.
We booked River Roast last minute looking for a place to eat lunch. We checked in and went downstairs to the the bar to wait for our reservations since we requested patio seating. I ordered a Bloody Mary and my husband ordered the Cold Brew Chocolate Coffee. Both were fantastic and hit the spot! The bartender provided excellent service. There was live music so we passed the time enjoying the band. 30 minutes later, we were seated outside overlooking the Riverwalk. The view alone is worth eating here. I ordered the Croquet Madame Plate and my husband, the Chef Hash. Both were large portions and we devoured our food it was so good. Definitely the best lunch we’ve had in Chicago! Our server was great, friendly, and attentive. River Roast provided the perfect place to relax, enjoy delicious food, and take in the sights of Chicago!
Loved the brunch great music
From the moment we sat down to the time that we left we enjoyed ourselves. Our group of 12 was handled expertly! Will definitely recommend & be back to dine with you again. Oh and it’s the best Burger & Fries I’ve ever had!
We were fortunate to have an outside table on the river. Unbelievable view, kind staff who put us inside for dessert when it started raining. Whole fish and prime rib were yummy. Expect to pay the price for the location!
It was amazing. My girlfriend loved it and that’s all matter :)
Joanna was very helpful & efficient & able to get us an outdoor table! She was delightful!
We enjoyed r first visit to RiverRoast!
It was a long way down & we needed to use the Elevator which was not the easiest to reach without assistance from Joanna!!
Wonderful lunch on the deck on a fabulous summer day in Chicago
Really lovely evening! And the food was to die for! I had the roast chicken and it was really tasty! Definitely recommend!
Beautiful restaurant, great food, and the service was excellent.
My boyfriend and I had gone for our anniversary and were greeted with 2 glasses of champagne on the house! The cocktails were amazing. I had the pork shank and my boyfriend got the rack of pork. Both entrees were delicious. It really seems like no matter what the dish the food will not disappoint. Initially, I was bumped about the weather and not sitting on the patio but even inside I had a great time, great atmosphere!
We were celebrating a birthday at River Roast at lunchtime on a Sunday and we could not have wished for a better time. Food, service and view over the river were exceptional. This was not our first visit to River Roast and it will not be our last visit! Thank you
Very pricey for the type of food offered
My husband and I met my niece and her husband to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. We chose to sit inside by a window overlooking the river. We ate "family style", sharing the burrata and meatball appetizers, the chopped salad, the prime rib AND the roasted chicken with a side order of the potato croquettes. We enjoyed it all with plenty of leftovers to take home. They treated us to a glass of champagne and a HUGE slice of their decadent chocolate cake for our celebration. Our server, Diliana was perfectly attentive without hovering or rushing us on busy Saturday night. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back and try some of their other entrees.
Excellent dining experience with flawless service, delicious food, and beautiful ambiance! We enjoyed the pork and friends did too. If we’re ever in Chicago again, we will definitely eat here again.
Food is tasty but expensive. Wines by the glass are highly overpriced. Service is good, bussers in particular. Please go back to using Green Circle chickens, they are far superior to what you recently switched to. Management of outdoor seating needs work. Knowing it’s first come first serve should not mean when you request an outdoor table when making your reservation you are relegated indoors by this rule while watching many outdoor tables go unseated. The outdoor gate person told me that there was a wait list which I can respect - but tables remained empty during our entire meal. Work on that please, the season is short!
Recently visited to celebrate our 20th anniversary - we wanted something fun and a bit casual on the riverfront. I had booked the reservations about a week ahead with a request for outdoor seating. Upon arrival, we were told it would be a 45-60 minute wait for an outdoor table. We decided to forego being outside and settled for staying in. The waitress was pleasant and took our drink orders. Upon receiving my drink I quickly noticed it was not what I had requested and confronted the waitress who told me they didn't have Captain Morgan's and gave me what they had without telling me. Needless to say, I didn't like and requested another drink --- about 15 minutes later, I finally received the drink. Upon ordering, it was clear the waitress was not at all happy that we had wanted prime rib cooked medium rare and requested a small little slice more well-done. She quickly told me we should order something else that was more well-done. Anyhow, the prime rib was ok. The roasted chicken, though it was juicy, had very little flavor. And, the sides were no big deal. I can't recommend this place nor will I return. A very disappointing dinner experience from start to finish.
Hasd lunch and was seated close to jazz band. While I enjoy the jazz band, it was impossible to have a conversation because we were too close to the band.
Would have preferred to sit outside. Was told 1 hour wait, however, others came in after me and were seated for 2 in a short time. Disappointing as I go there all the time.
We had a beautiful table in the patio looking over the river. Our brunch was delicious, and the service was A+. Will be going again!
