River House Seafood
Good shrimp. Great waiter. Wish had open views to the water. Overall, a good experience.
Fantastic service, wonderful wait staff, food was delicious!!
Seated at our reservation time and they honored our request for a table by the window!
River House was recommended to me by friends. The menu looked amazing so I made a reservation. We ate outside on the sidewalk. Bad choice. Lots of people walking by super close to the table because like I said, our table was on the sidewalk. The service was fantastic, our server was super friendly and checked on us frequently, but not so much it was annoying. Our appetizer fried green tomatoes were very very good. Then it went downhill. My dry Mahi meal was very small compared to the large price tag, and came with very mushy orzo pasta. Such a letdown after my excitement for what looked to be a really great restaurant. Hopefully my meal was just a fluke and others have had better food. I probably won’t try it again.
The salad was drenched in dressing. The soup was full of Grease. Very very disappointing.
Food was just ok & pricey. tourist “trap”. Much better choices around the area
Service, atmosphere, live entertainment was superb. Unfortunately, the food leaves a lot to be desired. The food was bland.
What a great experience! The food was amazing, we had the fried green tomatoes-unbelievable flavors, just fantastic to start. Followed this with shrimp and scallops pasta in a white wine sauce and bourbon pecan crusted salmon with mashed sweet potato and collard greens - simply delicious. If you’re in Savannah you must dine at River House...
Calamari was wonderful! Seafood over risotto was overcooked fish over mush, which was listed on menu as asparagus, but turned out to be green flecks.
Restaurant was quiet compared to what was happening out on the street.
I would not return.
The food was delicious!!!! The service was great! I got the special, which was grilled red snapper and it was incredible! My husband got the stuffed flounder which was equally as delicious. Great atmosphere and service!
This was our 2nd time to River House. Our waitress Nora was excellent. Very kind and great customer service. My husband had the shrimp and grits, and I had the special Red snapper with risotto asparagus and broccoli. Both meals were very good. Our waitress even wrote Happy 6th Anniversary on our dessert plate which was the Ga Pecan pie. Super yummy. Overall our experience was excellent, no complaints on our end. We will be back. Thank you
We visited on Thursday night. The food was fresh ,the music was entertaining without overwhelming the room.
Great food & service. Tricia & Cody were wonderful! We ordered but did not receive a Caesar salad. The fried green tomatoes made up for it though. Overall a lovely evening! Would definitely go back again.
Perfect location on river, been here many times. Wait person Susan wonderful and engaging as always. Only complaint oysters in oysters rockefeller were so tiny, should not have been served. Everything else from she crab soup to grouper Oscar was supetb. We will return again.
Server was not very helpful and did take a but to get back to us portions small but very good
Interesting menu with excellent fresh fish and a good wine list. Very well prepared, presented and served.
Ordered Seafood paella, majority of seafood was unopened. Burger was very dry and over cooked. The service was very slow, we were advised that was due to a “vip” party coming in.
The best fried green tomatoes I have ever had. The food and servie was GREAT!!!!
Must try! We had the fried green tomatoes and they were awesome. Also enjoyed the crab dip as well. I had the stuffed flounder and my husband the mahi and we were both very happy. Our server was amazing and so sweet- if only I could remember her name! The restaurant was very quiet as most people left town for the hurricane.
Food was great and the ambiance was wonderful. Local singer Josephine Johnson performed and was terrific.
Had a nice window table for people watching. Waitress was terrific. Asked for her recommendation for an entree. The blue crab stuffed flounder was excellent. Had the white chocolate coconut cream pie for dessert which was not that great. Flat tasting. Somewhat over priced but considering the location not that surprising.
A perfect place for a nice dinner on the river! Stuffed flounder with crab was delicious. We went back the next afternoon for cocktails.
The food did not live up to expecations. A friend recommended River House. She and her husband had been there last weekend and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary; she had the pasta primavera. One of our group ordered it and it was soupy; a second person ordered the sea bass and it was terrible - dry with no sauce, the description said there was a lemon sauce; another in our group had one of the specials listed the pork chop - there was a sauce on it that was awful to lemony (wonder if it was supposed to go on the sea bass?) the sides were bland with no seasoning at all - mashed potato and broccoli. The 4th member had the fish and chips - very dry, all you could taste was the panko crust, fish had no tasted fries were cold. We had 4 sides - mac and cheese, vegetarian collards, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was dry not moist at all; the best were the collards and had they been served hot, they would have been excellent. We also ordered a Bottle of wine and the gentlemen had craft beers. The beer and wine were quite nice. This was definitely not a $194.00 meal! I will not be returning. Oh yes, we did have the millionaire coffee and the chocolate amaretto coffee, those were good.
Located in historic riverside district, River House did not disappoint. Good portion sizes and reasonable upscale pricing. The wait staff was on point with quick refills and recommendations. Live music also added to the ambience.
Crab cakes a must have. Loaded to the max with crab. Just enough filler to hold it together.
Fish was very good and warm, not hot however. The sides were rather on the cool side.
Our waitress was very good and friendly. The food came out pretty fast and was delicious. We had the lobster bisque for an appetizer and the crab stuffed flounder and pecan bourbon glazed salmon. Definitely recommend this place.
The food was mediocre but expensive and our service was very slow and sloppy.
6 out of our 7 entrees were poor to terrible. The quality and cooking of our two steaks were unacceptable. The seafood entrees tasted terrible and were also not cooked properly. However, the restaurant is beautiful and our server was very pleasant. The manager seemed uninterested (and actually walked away) when she asked how our food was and we said it wasn’t very good. I would not recommend this restaurant, we were incredibly disappointed that we spent a lot of money for terrible food.
Neither I nor my husband were very happy with our food.
My only complaint is that I was notified that the special I ordered was not available, 5 minutes after I ordered it. Otherwise it was a good place
Lots of missteps here. Calamari appetizer we had was overly breaded, but the dip was good. Caesar salad was overwhelmed with bacon on lettuce on the silty side, crab lobster bisque was just ok, and pasta primavera was cooked way past al dente and soupy. Our server took it off the bill. Overall most of the staff seemed disinterested in providing a memorable dining experience. First less than stellar dinner we've had in Savannah. Won't be back here when there are so many other great choices.
Great place to eat on River Street. Food & service were excellent.
Relaxed, casual atmosphere with class. The exposed brick walls make for a cool ambience. Our server was polite and knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Everyone's meal was delicious. The lobster and the crab cakes were outstanding! The meal was also prepared much quicker than expected. Highly recommended! Oh, the view of the river was a nice touch as well.
I originally ordered filet w green beans and mashed potato’s. I’ve had many filets in my life and this was by far the worst tasting one ever! It had no flavor! The green beans were so bland and tasted like they were out of a can. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant.
The chowder had a tomato base that left an acidic after-taste. The calamari was served that room temperature which is basically 'cold ' as for as calamari is concerned. Hope this helps improve things!
We came to listen to Josephine Johnson, the musician performing that evening. We decided to have dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we ordered. The Purple Crab Salad was delicious and the bowl of soup my wife ordered was so large she took half of it home. Plus the Peach Cobbler dessert was fantastic and enough for 3 to share.
I had to swat the flies so much that I could not enjoy my meal.
We really enjoyed the fried green tomato complimentary appetizer!
Food was great and my waiter was awesome!!
