River House Seafood
Tough to get to with construction. Service got a few things wrong but the food and drinks were well worth it. We had a great table with a river view.
My girlfriend and I visited Savannah for the weekend and I reserved a table purely on good reviews. The staff were all very friendly and inviting. Food and drinks were absolutely stellar! Overall, a great choice and would most definitely come back. 10/10 recommended.
Was our first, & last time to River House. Took an hour to get our food. They overlooked one of our guests order, had to take it as a to go order. The food was not as expected, gave the food a 1 star.
Excellent experience will worth the two hour drive!!!!!!!
My fiance and I made reservations here for Valentine's day this year and I'm super glad we decided to eat here! The service was amazing and so was the food! An awesome first time for us and we'll for sure be back!
This was our second time at the River House and we’re looking forward to our next time here and to Savannah.
Amazing food and excellent service and attention from the management and wait staff!
Service was great. Food was amazing and drinks were tasty and cheap! Had a great time!
First time there, excellent food - beautiful with the exterior lights at night
If you want overcooked fish this is the place for you! Our waitress was very nice but the kitchen staff must have taken the night off. “Not worth the hype” is what several locals told us; unfortunately we found that out after we ate there.
The food was not good and late. People who ordered after we did were served before we were - by quite a bit of time. It is hard to ruin risotto but they managed to do so. 3 folks were dining together. All had bad meals. The service was sub par. Even dessert was sub par. No stars.
This will be the last time visiting, unfortunately. Once again, food was prepared incorrectly and everything was overpriced for the quality.
We very much enjoyed our experience! I got the grilled Sea Bass which was delicious and my husband got the short ribs which were melt in your mouth tender! Service was wonderful, setting was enjoyable- classy without being stuffy! We will return!
The food was bland. The atmosphere and view was ok. There was a little bird that kept flying in and out of the restaurant. I didn't understand why they would allow it to do so. But when I asked, they said it did it all the time. Smh. It killed my mood. If I wanted to eat outside, I would have. It was a distraction having a bird fly over you and walk under your table looking for food. This definitely affected my review and my decision not to return.
Wonderful service. Better than average food.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We loved this place.
Everything was great except the pasta primavera. Best oysters.
Great service and great food. Look forward to going back! Try crab cakes and filet. You will love!!
Delicious food, great service, and great drink specials.
Food selection is very good. Service was OK. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, but they were not brought to the table. Our main courses were delivered and I asked the waiter about the Fried Green Tomatoes and he forgot them. He brought them out after we were partially finished with our main course.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The bisque was interesting, not the same old white base, but very flavorful. Wife’s crab cakes were delicious as was my grouper Oscar. Large portions left no room for dessert!!!
Everything was cooked and presented with great care. Waiter was very courteous and attentive. The oysters were great!
Nice ambiance, great server. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. We had the pork chop and the paella, which they say is their specialty. The pork chop was very thin, dried and overcooked. The vegetables were the only redeeming part of the dish. The paella was tasteless, though the seafood tasted fresh if not seasoned. Very expensive for what we got.
The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, our server, Cody, was very nice to start, then when he discovered we were doing apps as a tapas meal, he became very disinterested in us. We were served our apps by a bsckserver, he checked on us once, we obviously needed plates for our shells, never offered, He presented the check before we were finished our meal, and came back to take payment while we were still eating. Very, very poor service! In addition, our shrimp was totally overcooked, tough, no flavor. When we were leaving the restaurant with a half full bottle of wine, the manager stopped us and bagged it for us. She stated we would have been stopped by the police! The restaurant was busy, bit there were empty tables. We will not recommend or return.
The food was terrible, the stuck is in a fish bowl away from everyone. The frenchinion soup was awful and the the rest of the food had no seasoning in it. I can see why the place was empty.
Food was excellent, service was great only issue was my order for fillet was very thin but they did take it back and brought me another and it was fabulous
Nice lunch time! Good fried calamari, nice fish & chips, mediocre pasta & chicken. Very nice service.
Excelllent service, food was top notch. Be sure to go!
The best seafood I may have ever eaten. I had the steamed platter, yummm
Booked our reservaction on Open Table weeks prior to this date. When we got there they had no reservation for us. We had to be seated and wait while there were plenty of other tables available to have been seated in. We were disappointed this didn't work because it makes me not want to use Open Table anymore - can't trust them. The food was good, expensive, and not too busy for a new years eve, but felt like we didn't get the attention from our waiter we should have. Overall dinner was ok.
We chose River House for New Year's Eve. It was busy, but not overly so when we arrived at 8 pm. We chose the jumbo crab cake for our appetizer and it was delicious! Although, I thought one was plenty as we also had bread and drinks, my husband liked it so much he grumbled about having to share! For the main course, my husband had the pecan salmon and I had the shrimp and crawfish etouffee. Both were excellent! My etouffee had a good portion of shrimp and crawfish meat, so I was not disappointed. The River House also has quite a fun drink menu. I tried the Flirtini and My husband had the Bourbon Tea. With dessert, we both had the chocolate almond coffee sans whipped cream. They were a dessert in themselves! Everyone was friendly and attentive. I can't think of anything that was lacking. It was a great meal and we will visit again!
We visited River House Seafood restaurant in Savannah on New Year’s Eve as a part of our ten day trip through the states. It was by far the biggest disappointment out of all the restaurants we visited. The food was beyond edible. Everything we had ordered was disgusting. Lobster and lump crab soup was tasteless, oysters (apalachicola) not for consumption unprofessionally shucked, clams in white wine sauce overpowered by large quantity of onions and white wine. Even our drinks were below acceptable cocktail standard. After such a disappointment we paid for the food and left the restaurant without ordering entrees. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone I know.
Considering it was New Year’s Eve the service was exceptional very friendly staff. As for the food the crab cakes were the best I’ve had. The filet was tender but bland. The ribeye was fatty and did not like nor the lobster mac n cheese was dry. The duck and scored flounder were very tasty. Cocktails and desert were very good.
Really good food, large portions, creative cocktails, and great service. Our server Latisha was so lovely.
Food was good but service was very slow. We had to wait too long for drink refills. We finally gave up waiting to order coffee and dessert and asked for the check. Although food was good the lack of service spoiled the evening.
Good place, cleaned and friendly. I recommend this places
Very good service, food excellent.
Got to our table 30 mins early.
I've always like the consistency of the River House Seafood. Our waiter was wonderful, so accommodating and pleasant. The receptionist (long blond hair) was terrific.
The only negative was my scallops were very overcooked.
Food was awful, service was pretty bad, and sadly even when we sent the food back there was no apology. I would avoid this place.
Great food and all staff was friendly
