Food was good and service was excellent! We ate outdoors and it was pleasant.
This was a lovely evening at a quality restaurant. Our server was fantastic and helpful without being over bearing or intrusive. Very kind in assisting my elderly parents with certain special requests. The food was quite good and the drinks even better. Try that smoky bourbon old fashion! The only thing that was a slide drag on the evening but outside their control it would seem, is a proliferation of bees circling our table the entire night. I gather that’s been a problem but they are addressing it. They were awesome more than willing to accommodate us if we wanted to move to a table inside but because of Covid concerns we wanted to stay outside the bees not with standing. But we greatly appreciate it how quickly they were willing to pivot to help us
Great experience. Food was amazing, one of the best steaks in town
We were able to sit outside on the patio and it was beautiful. We were a table for four and ordered different times on the menu. Everyone enjoy their food. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I had a bite of the grouper cheeks and they were equally amazing! Great stop in Louisville!
Great atmosphere on patio
Yes, we highly recommend River House restaurant for any special occasion celebrations or to take out business clientele!!
The atmosphere was beautiful inside and outside!! The service everywhere was extremely friendly and professional and we just had the best time ever celebrating our 29th Anniversary there!! Definitely a special place!!🎉♥️
We had a birthday lunch for two on the long patio overlooking the river. Nice and quiet at that time of day and absolutely superior service from Ben! Food was outstanding! Loved my fav dish of shrimp with Tasso cheese grits and succotash! Appetizer of fried green tomatoes was great and the grilled peaches with vanilla ice cream was pure magic, best tasting vanilla ice cream I’ve ever had. ❤️
Everyone was wonderful, we had a wonderful experience. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was phenomenal. The service was great we truly were in and out within the hour. The atmosphere was amazing as well. We will be back !
We so appreciate the restaurant accommodating our request to dine outside.
Beautiful evening except for all the sweat bees. Fan didn’t help.
Chesapeake oysters on half shell were great. So was my scallops and requested lobster Risotto instead of grits. Very accommodating to substitute things.
All other meals were great- salmon and New York Strip
Lots of bees/yellow jackets unfortunately were bothersome. Not sure there’s anything that could be done. But if there is.
Waitress was good. I got the Walu fish special. The fish piece itself was mild, so mild it had no taste at all, which went well with the bed of lettuce and a strawberry and a few mandarins. The so-called dressing was tasteless, seriously. It seemed like straight water. You can do better than that. If and when I come back, it’ll be for the fried avocado salad or a sandwich. I’m sorry I have to say all this, but any good operator would want to know about the true experience.
Restaurant was excellent our waitress was very attentive. They only thing I was disappointed with was the dress code was not enforced.
We were very disappointed. I understand that places are short staff but felt like we were ignored. Apparently we were given an old menu with old pricing. When we told the manager our check was not correct he just said sorry you have an old menu these are the new prices. It made a substantial difference on our ticket. I felt like they should’ve honored the pricing that they showed us. The quality of the food was not as it should have been or how it has been in the past. We will not be back
Dinner was good, seafood tower was good, place is nice. Had $80 tower as appetizer, 2-beers each, and 1 smoked bourbon along with a steak for dinner and scallops for the 2nd meal. Dropped $250 for two people.
I understood the prices when I went and not complaining. But was the meal worth $100 more than another decent place? No it was not. Standard food, tasty food, but way over priced for similar places with the same quality of food. The $80 tower had a lot to do with this, but even this was over priced. You got 6 shrimp, about 10 oysters, about 10 mussels, and a piece of lobster.
In my opinion, the restaurant is not worth the price as the food was the quality of other nice places.
We had a table on the patio with a scenic view of the river. It was a peaceful, quiet and serene atmosphere. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious. We will return as outdoor dining is our only option at this point in time.
Fantastic first time experience at this waterfront gem! Great food and cannot say enough about the service! Definitely a must if you are in Louisville!
Appetizers were great. Scollops and drinks outstanding. Cherrywood steak left something to be desired. Very fatty and not much flavor. Could do without the gravy.
Great food and service, we will definitely be back.
Great atmosphere, food, and staff
Outside was lovely but bee season! Indoors in our next trip!!!
Wife 42 B day
Oysters were very very small. Definitely not worth the money
Three of us were seated outside with a wonderful view of the river. We enjoyed the bourbon flight, V oysters, butterfish which was good but not worth $38.00 and Makers salmon. The service was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal and the relaxing evening. We are glad we had reservations because it was crowded on a Monday night.
Our server did a great job. The meal was fixed perfectly.
River House lived up to its reputation; it was an excellent experience.
Our outdoor seating was lovely looking out to the Ohio River. We began with martinis mixed to our liking and a tasting of raw oysters. We followed that with the seafood ceviche over avocado. Delicious! My husband had the winning entree, grouper cheeks over risotto. My bourbon glazed salmon was cooked to my liking but didn’t taste of bourbon and the vegetables were disappointing. Our server was proficient but didn’t appear to want to be there.
I think I would order all starters and salads next time so many looked good.
This is our third visit to River House Restaurant. Every time we are in Louisville this is a must stop! Beautiful views of the Ohio River. Fantastic seafood dishes but also a lot of choices if you don't like seafood. Great service and just a really great place for dinner!
The food was wonderful and the service couldn’t have been better. We enjoyed it very much.
Oysters were delicious and so was the Wahul fish. The butterfish was tasteless, tough, fatty and greasy and it looked like a chewed up softball on a plate.. The manager couldn’t be bothered after sending it back and getting the fish salad instead which was missing the right dressing and the octopus. Manager said the butterfish was an acquired taste and then said you got your salad now so what’s the problem. Wow, really… The entire meal and experience was pretty bad. Service someone would receive at like Waffle House. We won’t be returning… I don’t recommend.
Sat outside and the weather was beautiful! Service was prompt and the food was great. Overall a wonderful experience!!
Joe was an excellent server, food and drinks were great!
Great food, great view, had a delicious dinner on the patio.
Excellent food and great service. Not much more a person could ask for.
River House Grill is always an excellent epicurean delight.
When my sister visits from Saint Louis, we always meet at River House Grill.
Dining on the terrace is especially nice when weather permits.
Then we walk down to the river and relax on the Adirondack chairs to chat and watch the boats go by.
Seafood platter was OUTSTANDING!
Service was very slow. Beautiful patio. Food was good
Everything was fantastic.
The food was phenomenal
Wonderful place to eat, excellent food great service and very affordable.
The fish and chips were greasy. Shrimp cocktail was small, suppose to be jumbo..
