We had a surprise birthday party for my wife, dinner and everything went well.
Great place. Went early had a table by the water. Nice. I had the roasted chicken. The vegetables were also roasted. Got the smaller portion house salad, chicken and cheesecake. Hubby had the gumbo and veggie lasagna. Gumbo was perfectly fantastic. The lasagna was okay. Wait staff was great.
River City was OK, not outstanding but there was nothing wrong with the food and service. Just a little pricey that what I expected for the food.
Food had to be sent back twice. It took 45 minutes to even get it the first time.
Everything was amazing service was awesome and I would to visit again
River City Brewing is one of my go-to places to take a client or just get out of the office with my team. It's affordable and the food is great. The wait staff is on top of things but never makes you feel pressured to order or get done with the meal. Always a great experience!
RCB was great. Lunch was great. The server was very friendly and efficient. The only issue was That I would have preferred a window table - I put that in my reservation. But they gave me a booth based on a certain station. Other than that I was pleased with the overall experience.
Salmon entree with asparagus and potatoes was delicious. Facilities very nice. Service was excellent. Waiter had a pleasant sense of humor and stayed attentive but not obvious. All in the party was very please with the meal. Highly recommend.
This was our first time dining in this restaurant and was very excited and optimistic to be in a new restaurant celebrating my fiance's birthday. Our reservation was at 7pm and the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. Walking in the door, there was no hostess at the stand to greet you. Once we got seated service was ok but just ok really as the meal went on the service was slacking more and more. Crab fondue tasted like it had sat in a pot all day and was warmed up. Got crab cakes instead and even those were disappointing. The meals came out and we were again not satisfied. Food wasn't hot and looked like it had just been thrown together on a plate with some smeared carrot puree to try and dress it up and make it look like something. Managers were not anywhere around the restaurant. At the very least a visit to the table from a manager would have been appreciated after paying full price for everything and not eating any of it. The only positive remark I can give this very unremarkable restaurant and experience is that the guy (food runner) was very polite and attentive and the brownie he brought out was the only delicious thing we ate. I definitely don't think I will return here nor do I believe I should recommend this as a nice restaurant for special occasions.
Slow service and unremarkable food.
We had the catch of the day, as recommended by our server, Martin. It was delicious! Martin was an excellent server - attentive and accomodating.
Beautiful view of the St Johns & downtown. Food was delicious, great atmosphere, and all staff members were very attentive & polite. We’ve come here for a night out on the town, anniversaries, & just celebrated a high school graduation here.
Food was fresh and view was great. Definitely recommend.
One of the cool things about dining in the large bar area of River City Brewing is that the menu is less formal. We ordered the Paprika Shrimp (with a side of buffalo wing sauce), Smoked Gouda Grits and a Spinach Salad. Yum. A lot to share for two. Oh, and don't miss the best locally brewed beer in town: Kentucky Bourbon Beer!
This is a good place to try if you are around Jacksonville. I would recommend making a reservation because the restaurant fills up quickly.
Food with a view! Yummy entrees and salads. The view of downtown Jacksonville over the St. Johns River is majestic.
To begin with, RCBC has location, location, location, right on the St. Johns River with a panoramic and up-front view of the Jacksonville skyline. But that's just to begin with. The dining room is beautifully decorated, with not a bad table in the place in terms of view, and the food is delicious. I had the crab cake sandwich and it was light and flavorful. My friend got the fish tacos and they were savory without being intolerably spicy. The front-desk staff were very accommodating and the table staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'd go back any time I was in Jacksonville and I'd recommend RCBC very highly.
It was an ‘early Mother’s Day lunch’ for my 96 year old Mother and going on Mother’s Day is abut too hectic. We had a lovely view table by the window, enjoyed our meal very much and had a lovely experience!
Love this place. The view is incredible and if you go early (6 pm) or so, it’s pretty quiet and relaxing
The service here is impeccable. The good delicious and the view breathtaking.
Service and food was outstanding! While not a beer drinker per se, we did enjoy a glass of their beer
First visit to this restaurant and was optimistic going in based on previewing the locations and menu selections. Had an early reservation (5:30 pm), so restaurant was fairly empty. Walked in the door, no hostess to greet you. When she did arrive she didn't acknowledge us, instead struck up a conversation with a server about something and we were left standing there for a few minutes. Once we got seated service was acceptable. However, our server apparently did not hear my daughter say she didn't want pickled onions on her wedge salad. It came with the pickled onions :( . Wedge salad was average. Tomatoes were not good and dressing tasted like bottled. My fish tacos were just ok. Crab fondue dip tasty, but didn't really have noticeable crab :( . Great scenery on the river. Did not check out the brewery "side" of the restaurant, but it did have several patrons
Delicious with helpful service and a great view!
We had the fish tacos and the fish had no flavor. Also the tacos lacked fish.
We walked in the back and went to the hostess table as directed. She sat us and no one showed to get our drink order. One of us went in and asked for a server and she said “well you are supposed to come in first and have me seat you ” our reply was “you seated us”. Hostess said “oh”. Waiter came out a few minutes later. He was very slow didn’t fill drinks. Food ok. Nothing like it used to be. Wasted too much of my lunch hour waiting. We had to find him to fill drinks and get our check. We didn’t even order dessert.
This was our 2nd time visiting Jacksonville, FL. The River City Brewing Company is right off the river front with a amazing view of Metropolitan Skyline. Me and my Wife had the opportunity to dine outside during the sunset. My wife order the Salmon and I ordered the Shrimp and grits. It started to get windy outside so we decided to go in. The Shrimp and grits are amazing it’s Bacon and Greens on there which has a southern Kentucky taste it I highly recommend it. My wife decided on the salmon she said it was good highly recommend.
Great beer and lovely view. My food was really delicious. Wish there had been a beer sampler, but I would definitely go back!
Great food and service.
Best time to dine is between 5pm-7pm during the week.
Food was more like bar food. They have two menus. Myself and my guest both ordered off of both menus so we can speak to both. The scallops were delicious however all the other stuff on the plate was not great. The chorizo took over the entire flavor of the dish which was unfortunate. And the chickpeas were bland. The carrot stuff was delicious as well. Great things on the plate but not well balanced. Beautiful view. Excellent service! Our waitress was phenomenal and she had plenty of help. They accommodated us to order off the other menu as well (which is not where we were seated to order from). The bar food options were delicious for bar food! I wouldn’t order off the fancy menu again.
We went on a Thursday night and it was so quiet and the staff was very attentive. I would recommend it for any occasion. The view was very beautiful!
Had a great dinner on the patio outside. Dinner was very good and generous portions.
I had the shrimp and grits, very smooth with just a hint of spice to balance the creamy grits and greens.
Local beer was fantastic. The Bourbon aged beer had an almost sweet finish. Very smooth.
First and foremost from the initial walking in the hostess was extremely helpful patient-friendly and went above and beyond and each person who had anything to do with their service after that was extremely fun interactive fast and helpful.
Poor service, poor food ....ten minutes before our server arrived to our table. She seemed impaired, spilled water on my lap and laughed saying she was clumsy. Food arrived and one dish was cold/ undercooked. Server did not return until she brought is our bill....just terrible.
Got the first crack at the salmon and the hot bar for Sunday brunch. Everything was perfect. Only thing I wish they had was a better bread selection. Favorite item was the honey glazed ham
Poor beer and service. Bar area.was in poor condition and terrible TVs for sports. Same as it looked 20 yrs ago.
Great setting ambiance and food.
Very nice views on the St. John’s river. There is a bar in the back where you can either eat dinner or go for cocktails before or after. Ample outdoor options as well.
Had very good food and excellent service. Location was very convenient to lodging.
We came here on our last stay in Jacksonville because it was soo beautiful here on Open Table. We made reservations for 9:30pm. but they call and asked us if we could move our time up because they closed at 9:30pm. which was odd that it was an option if that's when they closed. We moved it to 9pm. and arrived a little early for their convenience. The restaurant was very quiet as it was two other tables in the dinning room. We were asked to sit in the bar room because they were open to 10pm. but declined because the seats were high tops and I HATE those. We were a part of four and most of those tables were two tops. Our server was great and told us all about the menu and specials. We had a few drinks, ordered from the fixed menu.. Except my husband, he wanted a burger. The salmon dish was perfect, the burger was great and the shrimp and grits were ok. Our desserts were a bit of a let down but we understood as we found out that they were store bought and not baked in house. We tried the key lime and chocolate, I recommend the chocolate.
