The view at River Cafe is unbeatable. The food was also surprisingly good. Great for a special occasion.
We enjoyed our visit to the River Cafe. The service was outstanding and the food delicious.
We had a wonderful time with our friends and enjoyed the experience very much. The food was good, dessert was impressive looking Brooklyn bridge cake was fun. The crowd was older and and there were a lot of families. I recommend if you want to go to an iconic restaurant. For value I would say that you’re paying for the view. The service was impeccable.
We loved this place. The view, the ambiance, the staff particularly Evelyn and Amanda. The food was tasteful and fresh.
It was my Father’s Day gift to my husband. This restaurant experience is next level. The new menu is so much more approachable - that is, you can actually eat everything served. The six course was too much, but this three course is perfect. Do miss the wine pairing option tho.
Overall, the experience is superb. The staff are incredible. The food is amazing. The view is lovely. It can’t be beat.
Fabulous food drinks and service. Ambiance and views were amazing
Most spectacular experience from start to finish. Both the service and the food were impeccable. It’s our go to for all holiday and family events. Will be back at Christmas. Thank you, Andy and team.
Sincerely, the Olszewski family. Eric, Andy and Evin Margaret
Full disclaimer: We’ve been to the River Cafe several times post Sandy. Glad to see one of the finer dining institutions reopen from the pandemic. A few changes to note:
While the menu is still prix fixe, new plating and noticeable smaller portions esp foie gras appetizer and main course. We must commend the kitchen for executed dishes, not overly seasoned and using quality protein products (e.g. duck breast cooked at perfect temperature, no silver). The desserts were mostly carryover from pre-pandemic: soufflé, chocolate bridge/ganache etc. Definitely get the soufflé!
One major change is the ridiculous water taxi traffic overtaking the beautiful, peaceful NYC skyline view outside the window. Sometimes you feel the boats are coming into dock dangerously fast, the boats maneuver in such a way you sit there with an uneasy feeling. I’m sure The River Cafe is trying their best to fight this unsightly distraction but it may be here to stay. Our waiter, Alexander, was a bit green but very nice and did a nice job with service.
Despite notable changes inside and out, this institution very much represents NYC, destroyed and near total rebuilt post Sandy, shutdown and a reboot post Covid. With hard work and commitment, it’s thriving. The River Cafe is here to stay. Come with deep pockets. It’s the perfect place for that special occasion.
Went here for our anniversary. Amazing experience! Food, service, ambiance were impeccable! Can’t recommend the River Cafe more!
It was perfect
Lovely restaurant on the river with gorgeous views. Food is exquisite and service sublime. We all enjoyed our dinners and felt pampered by the thoughtful, professional wait staff. The flowers in and around the restaurant add to the feeling that you have entered a fantasyland.
Will continue to go to River Cafe although getting there from NJ is a pain.
Great place !! Staff super friendly...beautiful view...love it !!!
I came to River Caffe for the wonderful reviews I read. I took my wife to celebrate her birthday and we had a great time. From the valet parkong, the hostels, the waiters, the comfortable and the attention was 5 stars. The best view under the bridge and the city nothing better than that. We are sure to return and I highly recommend it.
Fantastic food and ambiance. Will definitely return again.
Always amazing. An American classic. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening. The food was excellent. The staff amazingly friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Hands down New York's finest fine dining experience.
Everyone was very courteous and friendly . I will recommend. It to any who is looking for fine dining
We went there for our 10th anniversary. The food was excellent, the service was as well. The best part was that there was a large party occurring on their outdoor space and for all intents and purposes, had we not seen the party we would never have known it was there. Excellent wine selection and knowledge, too.
Everybody works really hard as a team to make those who attend river cafe feel special. Such an amazing experience overall from the food to the staff - there’s nothing like it . Everyone should experience river cafe.
It was an incredible and memorable experience, excellent restaurant!!!
My Pop Pop’s birthday.
Noise level was higher than what I expected for fine dinning.
Service was great.
Food was amazing
We had the duck and it was fabulous
Everything was fabulous.
I don't know what to say except for one word: exceptional. Of course it's a Michelin-starred restaurant so you would hope it would be so, but that's not always the case with every restaurant. However, for us and for our evening at the River Cafe, it was. From the greeting, to our experience at the bar (we were early) to our window-side table, we were treated like gold. The dining room, the view, the food, and, my wife, were all beautiful.
The only reason I gave it only 4 stars in the category of "Overall" is that I think they could do a little better with some of the dessert offerings. Other than that, it was a 5 star experiernce all around.
Great setting, attentive staff, it was a great evening.
Excellent food and service, and wonderful view and ambiance. Experience is second to none.
We love this restaurant. One of the rare instances where a great view and ambiance is paired with world class food and perfect service, not pretentious but attentive and on every detail. We just celebrated our 30th and all of our expectations met. A+ Wine list and Sommelier, Foie Gras perfection matched with Egon Muller Riesling memorable!
Everything was amazing
Amazing service! The food was delicious and the view is INCREDIBLE!!
We were married at The River Cafe five years ago and decided to come back to celebrate our anniversary. We have such special memories of the occasion a were really looking forward to returning. All we can say is WOW!! We had one of the more memorable dining experiences of our life. From the second we walked into the restaurant to the second we left we were made to feel special. The service, the food, the wine, the VIEWS!! All impeccable. The staff couldn’t have been nicer to us. They started us off with a complimentary glass of champagne. The steak tartar was magnificent. The fluke crudo was spectacular. The Black Sea bass and the lamb were delectable. The Sommelier helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine to compliment our meal. The dessert was spectacular (including the Happy Anniversary chocolate plaques!) Afterwards we took some pictures out on the deck with the Brooklyn Bridge as our backdrop (the wedding that was taking place there were kind enough to let us crash a bit for our pictures!). If you haven’t been here - GO NOW!! Make up some excuse to dine here. If you are looking for a wedding venue - this is the place!! You can’t choose a better location. If we could give The River Cafe ten stars we would!!
The view was good for one of us, but the other side was a huge crane. Not a good thing to see. The food was okay but the ambiance and the service was great!
Wonderful place to celebrate!
The food and ambiance were amazing, and the service exceptional! Only complaint was we were seated at 9:15 when we had an 8:30 reservation.
It rained impromptu so I guess that threw some sand in the cogs, but staff & restaurant were unprepared, waited for 45m for a table, told to wait in a room that looked like it was set up for a visitation, totally disconnected from the experience one would expect at RC.
The meal was OK, I mean, this is 2021, maybe this was incredible for 2001... The wine list was great.
Hopefully all of this was Covid related, (lack of training for staff, restaurant running a little cold, staff overwhelmed and discombobulated) but I cannot recommend this place, particularly with so many great restaurants these days.
Tercera visita a River café y tercera vez que quedó satisfecho. Gran lugar!
Great night out!
A wonderful experience.
We were late due to traffic issues, but the crew kept a very welcoming ambience, making the pressure lowing down immediately.
The views are awesome, food and service are at the top, full of mindfulness.
One of the best experience I had in NYC.
With gratitude. A&B
You have to sit outside with the westerly view of Manhattan
One of the beautiful views and restaurants in NYC!! The flowers inside and out so fresh and beautiful! Outstanding service at the bar and for dinner. Creative cocktails with attention to detail even down to stamped ice cubes. Menu was amazing with perfect portion size. Wine selection overwhelmingly but sommelier helped us select wonderful bottles that perfectly complimented our meals. Truly a wonderful evening!!!
Best meal we've had in a very long time. Everyone pleasant and helpful. The view is incredible. The strawberry souffle was perfect.
