River Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The most delicious food I ever had. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The chef sent out an extra course which they matched with an extra wine. I am not a huge fan of seafood but I didn't want to restrict my courses so I didn't let the chef know. (They do ask about allergies and restrictions before beginning the tasting.) We cleaned every single plate that was given to us. We were also given two different desserts both said "Congratulations" because we were on our honeymoon. I can't wait to go back!
Our visit was at breakfast time - Food was ok.
Service was very friendly and excellent in terms of speed and efficiency.
Venue is now tired and a bit worn, especially outside.
View over the river and Brooklyn Bridge is very good but you can see the view in a public place without visiting the restaurant.
We had a far better quality breakfast in overall terms, at a 5 star hotel in lower Manhattan during our trip which was significantly cheaper.
Overall we were disappointed with the experience but can say we have been to the River Cafe.
We dine here at least once a year, and ambiance and service are still amazing. However, I wonder if the culinary quality are doing downhill. The menu does change seasonally, but somehow still manages to feel the same year-in and year-out. That's not necessarily a good thing. While the duck breast was great, as always, the branzino very clearly tasted previously-frozen, and if not previously-frozen, it just didn't taste fresh or well-prepared. In all, I'm very sad to say that this felt like a pricey meal that fell short of remarkable.
Three shell was the best appetizer I have ever eaten, worldwide! Period, stop, end. We always go when we're in NYC. And are never, never disappointed. Superb food, wonderful service and the greatest view of lower Manhattan across the river you could possibly imagine. Pricey, but worth it.
A perfect evening! The moment you pull into the driveway you enter a different world. A fine dining experience with amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge and lower Manhattan . The cocktails were an ideal start to a relaxing evening of gastronomic delight. The food is delicious....from the chefs prelude to the finale, every bite delicious - paired with outstanding wine. The service impeccable!
