What Insiders Are Saying
A special-occasion restaurant on the Brooklyn waterfront.
Fab place. From the location, to the attentive service to the quality of the food and presentation, an overall 10. Friendly and attentive staff. Good timing between courses. Goes without saying the view is priceless. Worth the price

It was awesome. The food was unbelievable. The views are priceless.
The A/C was freezing!! The rest is just perfect for a romantic dinner in front of the skyline!
I felt like I had walked into the dining hall on the Titanic for dinner. Spectacular views and top notch service. The staff and chef went out of their way to make this night a special occasion and No one there knew it was my birthday. Food was exquisite.
Llevamos años cenando en el River Cafe en nuestro aniversario. La vista es espectacular, la comida es excelente y presentada muy fina. El ambiente es muy agradable, y todo el personal de lo más amable.
Could not have been better. As always - many many thanks to Joshua and his team (and Mikey). River Cafe remains our favourite restaurant.
This was a wonderful place to share on Father's Day. Outstanding food and service above all expectations. A real hidden gem
hadnt been back since destroyed by hurricane several years ago and was outstanding -- just as before. highly recommend for special occasions, holiday get-togethers, etc... impeccable service with a smile, and great food. perfect.
The atmosphere was very romantic. The service was great and they were very friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the gluten free options, especially considering I had not indicated any food allergy until our arrival. Our meals were exceptional. We started with the octopus and scallops for the appetizers. Sea bass and lamb were our entree choices and we finished with peanut butter dessert. The dessert was probably one of the best I have ever had. The drinks were also quite tasty. Overall it was a lovely experience; however, we did feel it was a bit overpriced.
3 course meal including Entree, Main, and Dessert was rather simple; none of the "foam" and flourish of other Michelin starred restaurants. All but the veggie option were praised. Cost reflects location. Dinner for 4 with moderately priced wine, drinks came to just over 800.00 before gratuity. Memorable but expensive.
Surprised my wife for our Anniversary and couldn’t have been happier with the selection. Everything from pulling up to the restaurant to the dessert was perfect. The staff was great, the view and food were amazing. This is definitely not a place you come to often because it is on the pricier side but well worth saving for.
Excellent. The service and dining experience were exceptional. Josh, our Maitre’d, was helpful and attentive too.
An absolutely perfect evening!
Food esp was fantastic
Beautiful food, but have had better for a lot less money. Guess you're paying extra for the view, which is magnificent. Service is wonderful, but felt a little as if I needed to hurry, as I could see the waiting staff hovering in my peripheral vision. Overall a lovely experience, but for the money ($525 for tasting menu for 2, plus one bottle of wine), I would like to have felt blown away by the food and the service, which I'm afraid I wasn't.
Fantastic experience on our visit to NY. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My meal of oysters and scallops was exceptional. Wife had crab cake and duck, which seemed excellent. She thereafter became ill with severe intestinal problems which lasted two days.
Not blaming, not complaining, just recounting experience. Only other meal that day was bland
Lo encontré excesivamente caro. El emplazamiento es espectacular.
Valentine’s Day celebration
Our second visit - the first for my wife’s 40th, this for mine - it didn’t disappoint. The food is exquisite, the wine, as recommended by the Sommelier was, as you’d expect from an establishment such as this, similarly sublime.
I’m not sure which is the biggest draw, the food and drink or the ambience and the view of Manhattan at sunset but the combination makes for a genuinely special evening.
Vacation trip to New York.
Perfect for our post engagement dinner
The scenery was good. Especially night view was wonderful.
Awesome food, awesome service, awesome view
Our party had a Wonderful evening at a special place. I’ve been to River Cafe before and told the other members of the party to be prepared for a special desert. All parties are chocolate lovers and we’re wowed by the chocolate bridge.
An incomparable view of Manhattan and an exquisite menu. Service was excellent as well. Celebrate at this delightful venue!
River Café had very pleasant atmosphere, very good service, amazing surroundings but above all divine food. Everything was delicious, beautifully made and served - every bite tasted like paradise.
Service was top notch, elegantly presented, catered to every need, the staff was exceptional in offering recommendations and it is a must visit when in New York! Highly recommended and worth every penny!!
Dinner at the River Cafe was one of the most perfect experiences in my life. My daughter and her long time boy friend had news to share, and I thought I knew what it was. I was right, and we had an exquisite evening. Service was absolutely top rate. The food was exceptional. The view was amazing. (We were seated right by the river. Just the best seat in the house.) I really wanted to see the Cafe after Hurricane Sandy, and I was most impressed.
Without question, this was the dining event of the year, and it's only June. The River Cafe is, in my estimation, on a level of its own.
Average food but very expensive
Poor balance food/price
My girlfriend and I had a great time. Fantastic view of Manhattan on a sunny day and the garden and flowers are idyllic for a romantic time.
The food and service were top notch.
Definitely recommend going there and I look forward to going there again
Booked this as we were on honeymoon. Recommended by friends. The food was amazing, the view awesome (slightly disappointing not to get a window seat but still the view didn’t disappoint) The steak was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had my fair share! I didn’t season any food, it was perfect. There’s no denying it’s very expensive once the expected service charge is added plus drinks. However it was a special occasion and it definitely felt just that. Highly recommend. We walked the Brooklyn Bridge on the way over.
Noisy and crowded. Plain food with absolutely no view of the river.
A great place for a special occasion. Beautiful location, great service and food.
Fantastic restaurant, great service , gorgeous food and the best view ever.
As always, the River Cafe’ was perfection!
Flawless service, impeccable food, views beyond compare...
A New York gem!!!
