River Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Magical. Reserved a table for our anniversary. We choose the six course option and it was fabulous. Combine this with our window table viewing out at the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline with a light snow falling and you can understand why it was a wonderful dinner. The service by Terry and Ricardo and the rest of the staff was superb. When I go to the River Cafe I feel like I am on vacation. This evening was no exception.
My fifth trip to The River Cafe over the past 15 years. A magical night watching snow fall while walking up to the restaurant and from our window table. I was the only one at a table of Texans who had been to TRC before. The ambiance and service were unparalleled, as always. Our dinners were excellent, except for my wife who had a tiny lobster, maybe 3-4 ounces. It was the smallest lobster I have ever seen served. She was very disappointed. Kind of difficult to justify paying $160 prefix price for a tiny lobster tail entree. I had a NY Strip, excellent and easily 16 ounces. The tiny lobster suffered in comparison. Everything else was excellent tasting, but small portion size. I don't recall the small portions in the past. Our dinner for 4 with tip was $900.00. You are definitely paying for great ambiance at The River Cafe.
Probably one of the best restaurants in New York City And the country and with one of the best views. The all inclusive food tasting and wine tasting menu was unforgettable. The people that work there are at the top of their craft and make it all the more memorable. If you want the best this is it.
Elegant restaurant with incredible views of lower Manhattan matched only by the food and service. White jacket service. Lamp lite tables with bouquets of fresh flowers.
An pre fixe menu with multiple options of extremely well preprepared food. Extensive wine list with a expert sommelier that recommended a bottle of wine that was matched perfectly within or price point.
We were celebrating a special occasion but feel that this restaurant treats every guest as if they are celebrating something special.
Dining at the River Cafe was an experience that we will be bragging to friends about for months.
Fantastic curb appeal, arriving at night to tree lights and the Manhattan skyline. Arrived at our table, only to feel like we were intruding on the next table’s date - very close together. My husband kept getting bumped by passing waiters serving the table behind too. After 15 minutes of that, I moved the table myself to give him more space - much to the waiter’s disapproval. However, the Maitre d’ moved us straight away, and our second seating option was much better. Food is amazing. Cocktails were great (French 77 is a must) and view is superb, but I will always remember the seating debacle - which is a shame.
Very romantic restaurant but a bit crowded. We were a table away from the window but once the couple next to us left, they offered to change our seats over to have the best view of the city. How nice was that!
Walked in, there was a coat check so the nice attire is a must. The menu varied from seafood to meats to sorbets and chocolates. You WILL be able to find something you can eat even if you are picky.
The presentation was amazing! Take a lot of pics but don't turn off the lamp even if there is a glare (learned this from the table that sat next to us).
At the end, my boyfriend and I were stuffed! The chocolate is HEAVY. Don't run over to Shake Shack before your dinner - no matter how hungry you are.
The bathroom is outside by the waiting area which is good.
By the way, you can mention it is a special occasion and they'll have something on a plate for you.
Overall, don't regret coming here at all. Questionable to whether it is good enough to return to though.
Had the most wonderful evening at the River Cafe. Second visit and would not hesitate to book again. The food was devine and we were looked after by Ralph and his team.......the very best of service. You are made to feel special and welcome from the moment you arrive.
It lashed rain the evening we went and was a pity as the view is amazing and so romantic , the service was good and we got a window seat as requested , the food was good but the Brooklyn Bridge desert looked amazing but didn’t taste great , it’s was special occasion that came with a special price not sure if it matched the price , a once in a life time thing but wouldn’t rush back
The hostess was super helpful (and even helped me reapply my false lashes in the bathroom!) I was very thankful for her. I was proposed to just prior to going into the restaurant, so I cried my makeup off! We received spectacular service, and were congratulated by everyone there. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special night out.
Went here for lunch on a Saturday with my wife. Service from the second we walked in the door until the moment we walked out was superb. We were sat at a window table and the view was absolutely magnificent. The food was top notch and the two course lunch was more than filling. Drinks were pricey as was the food but you definitely get what you pay for. Will definitely be back soon!
We had dinner for my girlfriend's birthday, the place is lovely, almost on the water, with the view of manhattan and its skyscrapers from afar.
The service exceptional , they take care of every detail, the only flaw (I would say fundamental for what we paid) is the food. We ordered stuffed ravioli with egg yolk and good spinach cream but the truffle above was old and nn smelled of nothing. For me, a slice of very good meat, my girlfriend ordered the duck with spelled underneath that she sent back. Terrible desserts! They only take care of the aesthetics of the plate while the taste does not exist. The base of the dessert had no taste, the cream with a jelly on top not worthy of a high pastry. We ordered the cheese cake and the Brooklyne bridge.I recommend it for an aperitif but absolutely not for dinner. you pay a lot but the product is not worth the price.
I dolci terribili !
What more can be said about this wonder? Plenty! It was trashed inside from the hurricane that decimated lower NYC, and they have rebuilt more beautiful than ever. This is the place to say that your evening is meant to be unforgettable.
We celebrated a birthday, and the staff, from Captains and Managers, to Musician and Servers, was always doing all they could to make us feel cared for and special.
Thank you all so much, for understanding and respecting the idea that events are to be commemorated and done in a BIG way.
