Great place to go for a special occasion. Loved every second.
It was a wonderful evening enjoying the wonderful food and the beautiful scenery.
Incredible views, incredible food!
This is our anniversary place every year for at least the past 12 years. It did not disappoint. All around excellent and memorable experience. Was worried that we had heard a lot of senior staff was no longer there including 2 maitre D’s who knew us. But Andrea deserves much credit for stepping in and making us feel special again.
Yes, it’s a splurge but we felt it was well worth it. Price has gone up a lot but that is to be expected everywhere due to increased costs. So we’ll definitely continue to return. Thank you again to Andrea and to the entire River Cafe staff.
absolutely amazing in every way! Driving up to the front doors, youre greeted with hanging lights and a beautiful garden. Be ready to be treated like royality! The staff is attentive and the view is simply amazing. They took into account our dietary restrictions and the meal was one of the best I've ever had. Great for people watching also. I will most defintiely be back!
Fine dining without the usually expected pretentiousness.
The only problem is getting to this beautiful restaurant. It is now on a one way street.
Trying to get to the driveway on a weekend took us 15 minutes.
However, it was worth it anyway.
Despite reporting allergies, the ingredients were provided. That was the only disappointment
Good place for a date. Food is relatively traditional but of good quality. Ambiance is awesome with pleasing piano music.
Incredible - best in NYC for a special occasion
Go with my girlfriend; 07/17 special date
We were sat by the hostess stand and couldn’t see the River so that was disappointing for a $700 meal. Felt like the restaurant really packs people in, was quite surprised how many tables they can squeeze in. Didn’t have the ingredients at the bar to make a mai tai. Food was very good but ambiance disappointing given our table and how crowded it was. Ultimately wouldn’t go back unless I could be guaranteed a table with a view.
The River Cafe lives up to its reputation and is absolutely worth it. The food, service, personnel, room, china, view, drinks, etc. were all fantastic. I will go again.
Absolutely one of the finest establishments in NYC. Excellent and attentive service, lovely dining room overlooking lower NY harbor and just about underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. The food (selection and preparation) was superb. Will return very soon.
We really enjoyed everything we had for dinner but above and beyond the food and the view, I would say it was the service that made our night stand out.
Everything was excellent.
Food not nearly as good as the previous times we have dined there, service just ok. View as good as ever, but I don’t remember all the very close commuter boats, not so great.
This is an iconic New York City (BRooklyn!) restaurant that isn't past it's prime! Welcome to 50 year veterans and tourists alike. Stellar service. Great good. Great ambiance.
The wife and I got married there and come back every year! A true classic
3 course meal with various options, all incredible.
Very romantic ambience and outstanding service. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Incorrect Pricing on OpenTable!!! Listed on OpenTable for $125/ppl but actual price is $160/ppl. Misleading and unpleasantly surprised at restaurant! The meal was good but the portion does not justify the price. There's no reduction in capacity nor did the staffs wore mask so you can't say the increase in price was due to PPE or limited capacity. Anyway, I guess if money is not an issue definitely worth a try, but I am very upset about the misleading pricing, that's an additional $70+tax+tip ＝$87, which can be another very nice meal for two.
Best meal, view and ambience in our NYC visit!
To celebrate my daughter's graduation from nursing school, we chose to visit NYC for 4+ days of eating great food. With other contenders of Peter Luger, Gramercy Tavern, Craft, and Gabriel so far....River Cafe was the top of the top!
Every bite was delicious, the service was impeccable, the wine pairing was perfect. And kudos to the pastry chef for creating our #1 dessert of the week--the Brooklyn Bridge. Sure it was delicious, but making a chocolate decoration on two sides of the dessert to make it look like the Brooklyn Bridge was clever, appropriate, and tasty. Well done. :-)
River Cafe is perfect for celebrating special occasions. In fact, many of the staff wished my daughter congratulations (and even one con-grad-uation) on her achievement. That's going above and beyond to help make a dinner feel super-special. THANK YOU!
Amazing food, amazing views, amazing service… perfect anniversary dinner!
We were married there 23 years ago. We have been there, with the exception of Sandy and COVID, every year since. It’s one of the finest restaurants in NYC.
This was an absolutely enchanting experience for my partner and I. She and I will not be forgetting our first time at the River Cafe. Alex and Steven, thank you for helping to create such a special night. Both of you as well as the rest of the staff made a great evening for us.
We both cannot wait to dine again with you.
I’ve been there before i all ways enjoy it the food and the drinks were outstanding the only thing that went wrong was I found a tiny bug on the table but I asked Amanda to remove it and she did promptly by the way Amanda was a pleasure to have taken care of our dinner she is a great employee of yours hold on to her
Nice area was closed for events. Everyone crammed in the restaurant area which is small. The chairs are suitable for a bistro not a luxury restaurant. Too many waiting staff watching over you like hawks. A pit pushy & always trying to get your plates. Food is OK with very small portions served. After spending $500 we had to go for another dinner. Bird portions should be served to birds.
We have been to the River Cafe many times and all our experiences have been wonderful.
Food is creative and well prepared, ambience is terrific and the wait staff is superb and attentive. Highly recommend for special occasions or a nice romantic dinner!
A great experience. Highly recommended. Perfect for any occasion.
Asked for a window seat when making reservation, when entering dining room twice. Was told they save them only for their special regulars. Not a great way to start an evening.
Beautiful facility , view and surroundings.
fois gras spectacular. Black cod tasteless ! $500 for 2 for a tiny 3 course meal not acceptable. We went to Per Se the night before and had an ethereal meal. This restaurant which is pretentious can’t hold a candle to Thomas Keller’s.
Will not return. Guess I’ll never get a window seat!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the River Cafe. The food was excellent, our waiter was quick, friendly and very helpful. The restaurant asked ahead of time regarding any dietary restrictions, which is very thoughtful and appreciated. Overall would highly recommend and we plan to return again some day.
Took forever to get cocktails from bar to table, and had to remind staff multiple times to bring over menu post first drinks bought at bar. Hamachi sauce wasn’t as flavorful but entree salmon was great.
Excelente comida y servicio impecable
Always a pleasure. The food was fantastic and the service top-notch. ❣️
Always outstanding and on top of their game!
it was a great dinner date. I am def coming back. Good view and good food
It’s our favorite restaurant in NY. An amazing place. Fantastic food. Fabulous service. Incredible ambiance. If you can only go to one place while you’re in NY you need to go here.
Overall, great dining experience for special occasion.
Really delicious and wonderful in every way. All the details are taken care of.
We had a lovely time celebrating our wedding anniversary. Great food, service, and ambience. Classic!
