This restaurant is by far one of the best. The food is always prepared with great care. The service is impeccable. The views to die for. Even on a rainy night, you cannot compare these city views to anywhere else.
A majestic setting close to home with
an exquisite menu and impeccable service.
Excellent all the way around right down to the valet gentlemen. That was my 2 nd time there. I would go again.
Great environment, beautiful decoration, good food and great services.
It was an amazing start to our anniversary weekend getaway. Everything you would expect from a fine quality restaurant. Details from lady scarfs if your cold to small benches for purses. The food and fragrance was spectacular. Highly recommend this place
Beautiful setting; this iconic restaurant offers a thoughtfully curated menu with extensive wine list and delicious cocktails.
Lovely and attentive service. Have been coming for many years and the quality remains unchanged. Bravo!
The River Cafe is a NYC gem and the perfect place to celebrate a special evening.
The staff is first rate from the minute you pull into the drive. From the parking valet, the hostesses, the bar tenders, asst waiters and head waiters, all wonderful.
Next, is the ambiance both inside and outside. I knew it was waterfront, with a picturesque view of lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and even the Statue of Liberty. I didn’t realize there is a beautiful garden on property also.
Finally, the food. Each dish had the sophistication one would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. The cocktails offered at the bar were also beyond the ordinary.
If your goal is to have a very special evening out, with outstanding service, ambiance and food and cocktails, the River Cafe is on point in all aspects.
If you want an old school, top notch dining experience, you need to look no further, River Cafe is your answer. Pricey, yes. Worth it, absolutely. From the service, to the food, to the scenery, to the pianists… it is an establishment that shouldn’t be missed!!!!!! It’s an absolutely classic dining experience, and oh so very classy too!!! Treat yourself!! Go! Go! Go! And… dare I say it… Bon appétit!!!
Excellent service Attentive staff that makes you feel like royalty. An amazing experience.
Nice gastronomic experience, Amazing NY view & great service
Ordered a nice table and got it next to the window. I was on my honeymoon, very nice experience!
I went in with high expectations for the restaurant since it was a Michelin restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing and attentive. The food presentation was gorgeous and the chef was so generous to provide complimentary items. The view at night is one of the best views in NY I’ve ever seen. The pianist Dom Salvador plays the most incredible music that ties the entire experience together. It would be perfect for any special occasion. I’ll definitely recommend to all my friends and visit again.
Food is excellent albeit smaller portions for the $. Excellent service but much too formal Need to dial it back a bit. Been to one Madison and Blue Hill at stone Barns. Experience was much more memorable for both than this.
Great service, great food and drinks, attentive waitstaff. Been here several times, they have yet to disappoint.
The rack of lamb was the best I've ever had - cooked to a perfect medium rare throughout, tender and beautifully seasoned. River Cafe delivers top notch service and ambiance and a beautiful view with master-chef cuisine.
First time here and it was definitely worth it and up to its reputation. Food and ambience were great. Price point is high which brings my review down from 5 Stars. Tough to beat the view, and the food was excellent. This is an old school place with old school ambiance and quality. Worth it for a special occasion.
Celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary. Got engaged at River Cafe. The service was outstanding, the views are amazing. The food was very good but the portions seemed smaller than what we had last time we were there. Overall a very good time and a great place for a special occasion.
A dining experience to remember. Perfect for an anniverary.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Complimentary appetizers were served. Atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated. Nearly a perfect night.
Only thing that could’ve gone better was the seating arrangements. Called a month in advance to see if it was possible to reserve a table on the water. I was told that seating was done first come first serve based on availability. However, upon arriving we saw a table available for on the water and when we asked about it, we’re told by the hostess that the table was reserved for another party. This was a little frustrating seeing as I had specifically called in advance to see if this was possible. Kind of a double standard, like there were two classes of customers.
Other than that, everything was great.
Great place to go for a special occasion. Loved every second.
Everything was excellent!!
Joyful. Beautiful. Fantastic up close view of water traffic. NYC at its finest. Great respect for perseverance of owner, chef, sommelier, florist, pianist Dom Salvador. Proud staff who work together well. Three of us tried many of the dishes on the prix fixe menu and liked them all. Delicious. Creative. At the top of my list for relaxed exquisite dining.
It was a wonderful evening enjoying the wonderful food and the beautiful scenery.
Incredible views, incredible food!
This is our anniversary place every year for at least the past 12 years. It did not disappoint. All around excellent and memorable experience. Was worried that we had heard a lot of senior staff was no longer there including 2 maitre D’s who knew us. But Andrea deserves much credit for stepping in and making us feel special again.
Yes, it’s a splurge but we felt it was well worth it. Price has gone up a lot but that is to be expected everywhere due to increased costs. So we’ll definitely continue to return. Thank you again to Andrea and to the entire River Cafe staff.
absolutely amazing in every way! Driving up to the front doors, youre greeted with hanging lights and a beautiful garden. Be ready to be treated like royality! The staff is attentive and the view is simply amazing. They took into account our dietary restrictions and the meal was one of the best I've ever had. Great for people watching also. I will most defintiely be back!
Fine dining without the usually expected pretentiousness.
The only problem is getting to this beautiful restaurant. It is now on a one way street.
Trying to get to the driveway on a weekend took us 15 minutes.
However, it was worth it anyway.
Despite reporting allergies, the ingredients were provided. That was the only disappointment
Good place for a date. Food is relatively traditional but of good quality. Ambiance is awesome with pleasing piano music.
Incredible - best in NYC for a special occasion
Go with my girlfriend; 07/17 special date
We were sat by the hostess stand and couldn’t see the River so that was disappointing for a $700 meal. Felt like the restaurant really packs people in, was quite surprised how many tables they can squeeze in. Didn’t have the ingredients at the bar to make a mai tai. Food was very good but ambiance disappointing given our table and how crowded it was. Ultimately wouldn’t go back unless I could be guaranteed a table with a view.
The River Cafe lives up to its reputation and is absolutely worth it. The food, service, personnel, room, china, view, drinks, etc. were all fantastic. I will go again.
Absolutely one of the finest establishments in NYC. Excellent and attentive service, lovely dining room overlooking lower NY harbor and just about underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. The food (selection and preparation) was superb. Will return very soon.
We really enjoyed everything we had for dinner but above and beyond the food and the view, I would say it was the service that made our night stand out.
Everything was excellent.
Food not nearly as good as the previous times we have dined there, service just ok. View as good as ever, but I don’t remember all the very close commuter boats, not so great.
