Super disappointed with our experience here.
Booked a breakfast table for 11:15 and, as tourists in the city, we got slightly lost finding our way there. I rang at 11:10 to say we were running ten minutes late and got told that the kitchen stops serving at 11:30 so if I wasn’t there before then that was that. Considering it’s a highly touristic spot you’d think the staff would be considerate and warn you of this in advance.
Got there flustered and gave our name and before we even got to the table, my husband was told to take his hat off with a blunt manner.
We sat down anxious about ordering as we had been told it was a strict 11:30 cut off and after waiting 10 minutes, actually had to ask for the menu to be brought to us.
We ordered two coffees and two eggs on toast with bacon and the bill came to $90. I understand it is a high end spot but the portion sizes weren’t great, the scrambled egg was average and paying $14.50 for a small cappuccino seems ridiculous.
After the disappointing food, we were at least looking forward to the view out the front of the restaurant which we had seen customers enjoying when we arrived.
I went to walk through and was told there was cleaning going on so we couldn’t even make use of the view after all that!! The hostess was in no way apologetic and made no attempt to offer an alternative.
The overall atmosphere is pretentious, the food is disappointing and with that, extremely overpriced.
I wouldn’t recommend.
Absolutamente recomendable.
Volveremos como todos los años.!!
There are few places to dine this well with so magnificent a view and such perfect service. It comes at a price so you need to be prepared for the $150 pp charge that gets you a choice of appetizer, main course and dessert. But for that you’ll get food prepared as artfully as possible and served by waitstaff who have their craft down to a science. If great wines are your thing, you’ll drool at the contents of the cellar. Watching the lights of Manhattan shimmer on the water is the ultimate topping. Not to be missed at least once in a lifetime.
tutto eccellente nulla da dire: prezzo adeguato all’eccellenza del posto!
This is the place to celebrate a special occasion. The atmosphere and the scenery are simply spectacular.
This restaurant is a New York institution and should not be missed. We have returne - as out of towners p many times and still consider it most reliable as to food, ambience and service.
Nice view.
Food ok.
Service ok.
Too expensive for the overall.
Sorry, i’m French 😉
Great food and ambiance. This was our first Michelin star restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We will be back. Staff was excellent as well.
A perfect setting in NYC for a special dinning experience, have been for dinner and lunch always delivers perfection.
It’s as wonderful as you expect and it was every bit the special 30th birthday experience I wanted for my daughter. Service was amazing all the food was great although I didn’t care for the texture of the onion omelet didn’t feel like eggs. Otherwise everyone at the table loved everything. One complaint. If you’re going to have a dress code and remind me about it over and over again then enforce it. I was very disappointed to see a couple in their 50’s in jeans next to us. Don’t given in!! Hold on to the fancy nature and experience. I wouldn’t have let them dine.
Amazing place - Beautiful views of New York
The food is unbelievable and so is the service
Highly recommended
I love the atmosphere - simple as that!
So when the service and the food is good, it becomes perfect!

Molto raccomandato
Lovely ambiance overlooking lower Manhattan across the river, fine dining that will fill your stomach, excellent wine, and perfect service. Our tradition whenever we come to NYC.
It was our anniversary lunch. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we had a table right by the window—amazing view of the river, bridge and skyline.
We have eaten at the River Cafe in the past but the food was even better than we remembered. Everything was delicious!
Our only “complaint” was that the wine by the glass was expensive but it was also very good.
Overall the whole experience was wonderful.
This was the Third Time I sent. It is better each time ! The venue is outstanding, thé personnel Carina and profesional. The food is excellent and the wine list covers any desire.
I will come back !
We had a lovely, delicious meal. Wait staff was very professional, food presentation was beautiful and tasted delicious. A very memorable meal.
Good service plus valet parking was a good add on
Atención de primera, de principio a fin. La comida una experiencia Regresaré.
Outstanding
Amazing food; amazing service. Doesn’t get much better!
Poor service - especially poor for the price.
It was our 5th anniversary so a celebration dinner. The staff were excellent and very attentive. Thoroughly recommended
This restaurant was beautiful! I went here for my birthday brunch and everyone was so kind!
We order Three shells and the duck . Everything was great . The service was excellent .
A good venue to receive proper old-fashioned service, enjoy a great view of the Manhattan skyline and sample some good food. A mention must go to Gideon at the bar who provide great conversation and fantastic cocktails. Overall a pleasant experience for a special evening.
This was an amazing experience! Such as great addition to our “first time in NYC” itinerary. Beautiful setting, excellent service and great food.
La comida es de alto nivel y tiene una gran atención. Es toda una experiencia!!
Everything is wonderful but be ready to spend $200+ per person
It is a verry beatiful place but you nead a lot of money because it is a very very expensive. They had a 3 course meny for 150$ and that is for everybody not any other obtions. The food is wounderful and the wiew of Manhattan.
Our lunch at the River Cafe was absolutely fabulous. The view, food & service was a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
It was an absolute out of this world experience.
Service and food was amazing.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely return.
Great place to eat. Food and service was great. I would highly recommend it.
This was my second time here. The first time was outstanding. This time, it was very good. The extra special touches in service was lacking this time compared to the first time. Still...the food was delicious, ambiance spectacular.
Food was excellent. Service was Fairly good but the waitress forgot our wine order. Overall, excellent evening.
Amazing!!!
Splendida vista su manhattan, cibo squisito. Servizio inappuntabile e personsle estremamente cortese. Un locale che consiglio per un appuntanento speciale. I prezzi sono ovviamente in linea
Amazing food, amazing service and topped off with an amazing view. Love this place!
I would recommend a dinner in River Cafe to everybody visiting New York. Prices are not exactly cheep, but it is a good unique experience. If I had to say the less good thing of the dinner is, as always in NY, the very difficult to explain prices for the wine, multiplying the shop prices for 10 in many cases, for a product they just buy, open and sale, without any ellaboration.
