Home of the Wet Woody ® and storybook sunsets, Riva Grill is Tahoe South’s premier lake front restaurant located in the Ski Run Marina. The 3,000 square foot deck overlooking Lake Tahoe comfortably seats 200 guests and is a dining experience that is second to none. Floor to ceiling windows in the two-story restaurant provide an equally epic view of the Sierras and Lake. Since 1998, visitors and locals alike have flocked to Riva for the best food and service in town. Try the bacon-wrapped filet and scampi with Point Reyes Bleu Cheese butter, the renown grilled or blackened fish tacos with apple-jicama slaw and micro cilantro or any of their home made wood fired pizzas, to name just a few. Good food, nice decor! Problem was that the noise level from the bar area was unbearable!
Another family that sat next to us left the Resturant because of this obnoxious woman at the bar!

Sad to say that if I ever go back, I will be sure it is early, as they obviously do not care how loud the bar gets?

Looks as if it could be a nice place otherwise?

Expensive. We had the salmon and the pork, which were delicious. The service was fine. The dining room was surprisingly noisy. I'd have no complaints about the food or experience if it were more fairly priced. $42 for an entree is just a lot.

Food was really good. I did order a medium well burger and received a medium rare one but it was tasty. The salt and vinegar chips were amazing, the crab sandwich was the best. We were seated upstairs overlooking the lake...truly magnificent. We will return for sure.

1st visit... will return! Ribeye was really good... glad I asked for the sauce on the side... not my favorite... the meat stood on its own, as it should! Server was on top of things...forgot his name!

I get it was a holiday weekend, but literally half of the menu was unavailable by 8pm. Basically if you didn't want a steak as your main you were screwed. The appetizers were excellent, specifically the coconut shrimp, and they had a decent wine selection. Wait staff was solid, but for the prices we paid I didn't expect to inquire about the sad solitary asparagus resting on my mashed potatoes.

Every time we go to Tahoe or Reno we eat at Riva Grill whether it's for brunch, lunch or dinner. Usually everything is excellent, but this time we had 10 people, the restaurant was so noisy you couldn't hear to have a conversation with your neighbor without leaning over to each other and two of our entrees were cold! It took 1.5 hours to get our food so sending it back, to us, was not an option as by that time we were so hungry. Riva Grill did comp two drinks and gave us a free dessert. We will continue to go to the Riva Grill as the flavor of the food never disappoints and the service is usually outstanding.

I had a $150 dollar bill, and it was not worth that amount of money at all. Our drinks had zero alcohol in them, and then when I asked for a splash more of alcohol I got charged like 12 bucks. Also very loud. Kids screaming and running around everywhere. Food was alright, but nothing special. It was like a step above a chili's..

Been there in evening for dinner. Wouldn't go there again. Overpriced. Wild mushroom risotto $39 with barely any mushrooms in it and fairly tasteless. Steak ok, came with asparagus. Wanted vegetables instead of mashed potatoes and I got 3 more asparagus. Service was so and so. Lobster bisque was really good though and can recommend. Don't sit in winter at table downstairs close to bar - door to outside opens constantly with smokers going in and out. Was getting really cold

The food is always delicious. We ordered the conchiglie and the rib eye. The pasta portion was perfect. The rib eye was huge! We had the smores creme brulee for dessert, and it was amazing.

Riva used to be a nice classic restaurant. This past Valentine's Day, I expected it to be the same. Instead, I was greeted in the bar by the Maker's Mark girls handing out shotskis, loud trivia, and a band I could hear upstairs? Is this a rowdy bar or a $42 entree restaurant? Pick one Riva - and then make it clear which you intend to be. I don't expect to order a drink called PorknMary with my $42 entree- save that for the rowdy bars. I have been going there for 20 years, I guess I'm too old for it now.

The family and I had a great time I wish I would have been asked whether I wanted to dine upstairs or down (I have bad knees ) so not easy to climb up or go stairs

The food was the star of the evening. Being a Valentines Friday night the place was understandably packed. Service was good but a bit slow how we since we were enjoying the company not a big thing. Noise level was high and conversation were sometimes lost in the din. Once the food came out though nothing else mattered. Although pricey (hello Tahoe), it was worth every penny. The filet mignon was butter tender and perfectly cooked. Pork tenderloin was the best ever. The sides complimented the entrees perfectly. Memorable Valentine for sure!

Food is great and you get a lot!! A little on the pricey side but doable. Only suggestion to the restaurant is to have more wine by the glass options, pretty limited with that but overall great experience.

Service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great for our dual birthday celebrations, and we truly enjoyed the food. Only suggestion is the seating staff be more attentive to requests made via open table. In our case, the request for a table with a view came 5 days prior to our visit and was completely ignored to the point where the seating staff seem upset at relocating us from our initial seating spot which was unacceptable. However, we dine at the Riva Grill nearly every time we're in South Lake Tahoe and we'll continue to do so.

Great food. Steak that I had was AWESOME!! I love that you can have a formal meal on one side and be totally casual on the other side. View is better in outside of the winter month in the evening, but a fabulous place to go anytime of the year.

It was our family’s last night in Lake Tahoe after a week long vacation. This was our third vacation to Tahoe in the last 5 years, and we have enjoyed coming to Riva Grill each time.

We really have a nice time there; we order for the filete mignon and the crabs. Really good taste, and excelente portion; the waiter makes a wonderful recommendations. A little bit expensive, but we pay happy (300 USD party of 2, and 1 wine bottle) the place is really nice, ask for the table at upstairs, has the best view to the lake.

Table was a bit cramped. Service was slightly below average. Seemed like the guy had big tables that he had to manage along with our table of four. Food was about 1 1/2 times what it should be pricewise. They advertise the burgers as some sort of an upgraded fi let style beef. Couldn’t really discern any difference. French fries were cold and the barbecue bacon burger had very little barbecue sauce on it. Won’t be going back. Even though this is a resort town and this place it’s right on the lake just wasn’t worth $215 for four of us.

We were very pleased with the restaurant, the food was excellent, the food was prepared to perfection and the quality of the ingredients were fresh.
The service was very personal and several times different stuff came to check on us and to make us feel at home for the holiday.
We had a lot of fun and it was a great choice to spend new year dinner with them.
The restaurant is beautiful with a view to the boats in the lake.

Anna , short for savanna I think was our waitress . She was excellent. She was always there but never an intrusion . She allowed us the time to converse without pestering us . She asked the chef a question for us and made suggestions that worked out for us. I appreciated the professionalism but relaxed attitude. I look forward our next outing with friends at Riva Grill.

We went to Rivas for New Years Eve dinner and it was fabulous! Beautiful ambience!! Delicious food! Kind happy festive staff!!! We even witnessed a proposal which was so special and sweet! We can’t wait to return! Great overall evening!!!
