An old favorite that misses the mark now. Food quality has gone downhill. Service spotty and lackluster. Better options nearby.
Zebra has been a favorite summer dining experience for years. The food has been consistently delicious. The spoiler this time was service from arrival on. They were not busy this time for dinner. We arrived at reservation time. The Manager and host were discussing another reservation. No one else was waiting. They ignored us. Didn’t take a second to say Hi we will be with you. They finally seated us inside. Only three tables had people. No one came by for 10 minutes and then said I didn’t know you were here. Not a great start. The appetizers were very good. No one cleared dishes. Then our entrees arrived and the server had no where to put them. She dropped them on the side and it was a comedy routine juggling plates. She apologized. Didn’t offer fresh utensils. As the check was about to come we started to get service. We were asked repeatedly what she could do for us. But we were leaving. We dine out all the time as do many readers. We pay for great food, but at these prices we expect a great service experience. Say hello to your customers when they arrive. Let a server know you’ve seated someone Clear the dishes before the main entree arrives. When you aren’t busy there’s no excuse. Lots a great restaurant options in the area, so never assume anything. Best of luck in the future.
Prix Fixe menu was nice, but only one option for dessert. It forced many people around us to order from the menu (perhaps that is the intention). Some dishes were very heavy on the garlic which wasn't necessary. Fish and calamari were very fresh and well prepared. Calamari in seafood salad was very tender, but again overly heavy on garlic. Service was okay but not very attentive and we weren't quite sure who our server was since they kept changing.
They have gotten too big for their britches. Plenty of other amazing choices in the area. Disappointed with the service. It was empty and they acted as if they were doing us a favor by moving our table.
Although $$$$, the food is consistently very good and the service is attentive. The noise level tends to be on the loud side. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a quiet dinner.
Awesome a very cool place that you must check out!
This was our second time at Zebra this summer. Last summer we had a couple of outstanding meals, however this summer they may have slipped a bit. The ravioli was mushy and the scallops looked meek. Restaurant understaffed, our waitress advised us she was in the weeds, which translated too no bread or drinks until after you have received your starters. The meal was just okay, nothing stellar, typical desserts nothing creative. hopefully they get back on track for next summer.
Before the summer of 2018, Zebra was one of our favorite restaurants in Rehoboth Beach. The last two times we had dinner at Zebra there was clearly a problem in the kitchen, because it took an extended period of time to receive our appertizers and are dinner. We planned to leave just as our food was serviced. Most unfortunate experiences.
The lamb shank was excellent and the veal saltimbocca was just okay. The waiter was less than friendly, he seem like he wished to be somewhere else. We are not likely to return.
They never recognized our special occasion a big anniversary, but everything else was good
Zebra Ristorante is a favorite destination for us... it never disappoints! The food is delicious and the menu always includes seasonal specials. Tonight we had the watermelon salad, homemade pasta (ravioli) and veal Marsala. Nice selection of wines to choose from as well.
The salads were very fresh, plentiful portions and creative as well as delicious. The Dover sole, filleted at tableside, was fresh and very flavorful. We were delighted to return to Zebra and enjoy such a splendid dinner in their beautiful restaurant.
Everything at Zebra is fantastic
The homemade pasta is great
Chooch, or waiter knows what he is doing.
The cheese ravioli is the best we have had.
Wished we lived closer
We always enjoy Zebra and have been going there for 25 years. The owner is ever-present overseeing everything and always cordial. The wait staff, food runners and hosts are well coordinated and welcoming. On this last trip, we enjoyed asparagus wrapped in proscuito and avocado with mango. For the entree, we both enjoyed the Chilean sea bass crusted with olives. Wow! The hot fish contrasted with the chilled, shredded vegetables was spot on. We also enjoyed a great bottle of Designo Malbec. Unfortunately, we had no room for after dinner treats. This restaurant is consistently excellent; that's why it's still there after three plus decades.
Lovely evening with great service from Rachael. She made great menu suggestions that were perfect. Thanks!
Food very good, but waited 50 minutes for food when restaurant not busy. They then had 3 out of five orders wrong. Waiter could not have cared less. Very disappointed.
One of the best restaurants in Rehoboth. Everything on the menu is delicious and beautifully presented.
Excellent Italian dishes served in a beautiful setting just off the main drag in Rehoboth Beach.
A delightful evening - very pleasant. Food was tasty, actual delicious and nice variety. Service was prompt, attentive and entertaining - 5 stars!
Value was good, a bit overpriced for some things.
Will return as a place for special occasions and treatment.
Thanks Zebra Bistro for remaining a dining option!
The staff here is fine tuned to provide the best service - they handled a full dining room with two large groups perfectly!
The food was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant too. Their outdoor dining is spectacular when the weather is nice. The staff was a bit dissheveled through. They had three large parties arrive at once and they had a hard time dealing with it.
Not good at all!!! We had heard mixed reviews of Zebra so a resident of Rehoboth we figured we would try it and see for ourselves. It was honestly not inviting from beginning to end. When we arrived we were given a table that was not to our liking. When we asked about another table the hostess said she couldn't due to the many reservation they had, it is 8pm already. The dining room was over half empty and the only thing our waitress did that was good was move us to a better table. The dining room remained half empty the entire time we were there. When ordering glasses of wine, the selections were not available so we decided not to have a beverage. When we ordered our apps the waitress insisted that we order our entrees at that time because the kitchen preferred it that way. Damn I thought we were the paying customer. Apps were pretty good but our meals were average at best especially for the price of them and we even had to walk around the restaurant to find someone to give us a knife and grated cheese so we can begin our meal. We waited probably 5 min before I got up. When the waitress came to the table after another gentleman gave us the knife and cheese she never acknowledged our wait and only asked if we wanted alcohol. Hello we were already past that considering they didn't have choices we asked for. Please don't even think about asking for more bread, when we asked we got a look as if we had asked for free apps or for them to run to outlet liquors to get us some wine. Overall a poor experience especially with the many additional quality restaurants in town. I won't go back, old atmosphere, less than average overpriced food.
The decor is interesting and fun, great wine selections, and the food is fabulous.
Great experience, thank you.
Tired. Needs a refresh. Food nothing special. Limited menu.
We enjoyed an early Sunday dinner - 5:00 and had the dining room all to ourselves! A special grilled avocado salad was a huge hit, as were the anchovies on top of my caesar salad (by request). But the winner on this night was a whole Dover Sole, seasoned and cooked to perfection and filleted by our expert waitress tableside. Served with a lemon/butter/wine sauce, it was the best whole fish I've ever had! We finished with the creme brulee, which was no slouch either. This has become one of our favorite restaurants in Rehoboth, and from the review we posted on facebook, some of our friends plan to visit when they're in town in the fall.
Excellent experience. As good as ever.
As always, one of our favorites!!!
Very accommodating, friendly staff. Decor was beautiful food and service great.
Well varied menu, tasty food, professional service and nice atmosphere. Book early if you want the popular porch tables.
Great food! Specials were a bit pricey but tasty and well portioned! The atmosphere is excellent. While the restaurant can be very noisy, but this visit was pleasant! We had a wonderful server and everything was delightful! Highly recommend Zebra for fabulous meal!!
Great atmosphere and an even better meal!
There were several problems with the price-fixe meal, both in the restaurant and as given on line. Osso Bucco as online was not on the printed menu, nor was it available. The dessert was given as a choice online and on the menu between cheese cake and tiramisu, but our waitress, Svetlana, without being asked, brought all four of us the cheesecake. She then told us tiramisu was not available FOR THE PRICE-FIXE MEAL. We didn’t protest, but perhaps we should have. The food and the service were otherwise good.
Always a favorite! Great food, service, and atmosphere
The restaurant was very loud. Service was terrible and felt like we were constantly waiting for service
The menu stipulated no substitutions . The food was bland and uninspired and grossly overpriced.
I won't go again, which is unfortunate because the food was quite tasty - traditional Italian, prepared well and served hot. However the service was abominable. It seemed like amateur night throughout the restaurant so we weren't the only ones suffering, but we didn't receive anything to eat until almost one hour after we had been seated. The staff were pleasant enough, but incompetent, despite the fact that there seemed to be more than enough servers present in the restaurant to attend to patrons' needs. We were also surprised when one person of our party of 7 didn't receive his food. Surprise shifted to dismay when we learned that his dish simply hadn't been prepared yet, so we all had the choice of eating before his dish arrived or waiting while our food got cold. Not worth it.
Service was much better this time being we did not have the lazy guy on the porch.
Food was OK but not great, and very overpriced. Very outdated/tired decor. Many better options in Rehoboth.
Staff overwhelmed. They didn’t know their menu or even their soft drink offerings. After an hour wait, where we only received half of our drink orders, the waitress can to take our order. She was very rude and not helpful in any way. Just felt like they could care less if we enjoyed our experience and service is certainly not of paramount importance.
We left before ordering.
Great Rehoboth Beach restaurant and one of the few that take summer reservations, making it a great choice when you have guests visiting. Well prepared Italian with nice daily specials. Serving portions are good - not too big or small - and service e staff is attentive. A bit upscale so dress a bit nicer. Indoor or outdoor seating. It too noisy. Our go to place when we we have guests.
