Ristorante Toscano Ratings and Reviews
I went there with my parents after my mother had a difficult medical appointment. It was nice and quiet and the food was really good. The gentleman who served us was very kind and helpful. It was very quiet, but we went on a weekday. It was a great experience and I will go back. It was also nicer than some of the other places you will find in the area. The building looks old on the outside, but it is really nice on the inside. And it is family-owned, not a franchise. You can tell the difference in how great the food is.
I would recommend this place any time, but especially if you are looking for a quiet dinner during the week.
When you walk in, there is no hostess to greet you so it's kind of odd. We had to wait a few minutes for a table to be set but no issues. Sat down and was greeted by our waitress who rattled off the long list of specials by memory. She disappeared for about 10 minutes. Enough time to eat all the bread, and for another server to ask if anyone had been over to greet us. Our waitress came back and we ordered. For an appetizer we ordered the mushroom caps that were on special. They were very small. Lukewarm. And were definitely not cooking the whole way through. When our food came out, it was piping hot. I had the shrimp scampi. Nothing special. Very buttery. Pasta was a bit over cooked. My friend had the chicken Marsala. She had to order a side of pasta because it didn't come with one. Very odd. She commented that the sauce was good. While waiting for the waitress to come back to ask if we were done, there was a large party going on. Since it was all in the same room (no private room) it made it a bit awkward when the bride and groom gave a speech. Needless to say, we couldn't wait to leave. Didn't bother ordering desert or hearing the menu. Would not recommend or go back.
My boyfriend and I had driven past this place a few times. We were looking for a place for a nice date night but hadn't planned ahead with reservations anywhere. Luckily, when checking out OpenTable this place had an open reservation. I'm glad we took it! The food was delicious and it was BYOB. It is a small place, easy to miss but we didn't find it overly loud, even with the live pianist. Our server was a little slow and forgetful but she was overly pleasant so we didn't feel the need to complain. It was a little pricey but the food was delightful and perfect for the occasional date night. We will be coming back.
There were four people dining. Everyone was satisfied with their food. It was sufficient in quantity and tasted fine. However, the food was not the best, especially considering the price.
I have linguine and clams in reds sauce. There wasn't one whole clam in the dish. Just chunks of clam. It cost $18.00. Our local Italian restaurant charges a few dollars less and gives you 6-8 clams in the shell. The bread was very good. The service was excellent.
List of specials are mouth watering, and Debbie did a great job reciting them. Everything our party of 3 ate was absolutely delicious; starting with appetizers of roasted Pear topped with Prosciutto, and a cold seafood salad. Our main courses were all specials: purse shaped pasta in a 4 cheese tomato cream sauce, gnocchi, and veal. The pasta was very soft almost melted in your mouth and the veal was thin, tender, and tasty. You have to try one of the chocolate covered frozen gelato desserts. We can't wait to return for an encore.
We have eaten here several times recently, and it is always terrific. Even my fussy friends enjoy the food here. The menu is creative, ingredients are fresh, the service great. They are also accommodating, and will try to meet your requests (entrees in appetite portions, for instance). Most of the wait staff has been there for awhile. John, chef and owner, is friendly easy to work with- he is also quite generous- serving size is great. This is BYOB, which is an added bonus, and there is a pianist on the weekends.
Ordered calamari and egg plant parm and both were bland!! Also had a side of pesto linguine and it was awful. I barely touched it. Very disappointing after reading so many good reviews, the service was great and the waitress was very nice but they need to fix the menu!
