Indulge in savory Italian fare at Ristorante Sicilia Café. Operated by renowned chefs Fernando, Sergio and Ivan (brothers), this quiet trattoria serves up a fine array of Sicilian dishes as well as classics from other parts of Italy. Ristorante Sicilia Café also offers a special pizza menu, which features a nice range of options including the Palermo pie—a local favorite. Visit for lunch or dinner and indulge in some purpu aniato or pasta con sarde. Finish it off with a sweet dessert, like the restaurant’s popular homemade gelato.
An ideal pick for an Italian home-style dining experience, this restaurant has a BYOB policy, so diners can bring their favorite bottles to complement their meals. Ristorante Sicilia Café also offers catering services as well as private facilities that can be used for parties and social events. This restaurant is open Mondays to Sundays.
I love Cafe Sicilia, the food is really good, nice ambiance, but...my most recent visit, the service was very slow. There weren't a lot of tables filled, but it was still slow.
So, Go! But be patient.
Food quality and price per.serving lacking. Listed on menu home made macaroni when asked they said the didn't get any in. What does that mean? Guess they don't make it in house not good, not made to order. Very disappointed for restaurant in Red Bank.
We met some friends here, we were promptly seated where we asked to be. The Server Andre was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. We had 2 appetizers for 4 of us. eggplant, and melon with proscutti. The Griggliatta de Carne was great for Meat eaters, the pasta and fish dishes are great choices as well.
we will be back.
Went for Christmas Eve - glad the place closed . The waiter stood next to us as we reviewed the bill and took out our wallets and discussed tip etc. The meals were horrible we had been there the week before and the same dishes were totally scimped on like used baby shrimp instead of regular size - no wonder they closed down - horrific !!
We suggested and it was an embarrassment !!
We really wanted this to be better than it was. The food was mediocre and there are much better restaurants in the area. Perhaps I was an off night?
Also, you could enjoy the company of your guests because it wasn't noisy. Highly recommend it.
Food was good quality and portion. Asked for chicken with my pasta special and they served on side. Should have been mixed in.
Been trying to get to this restaurant since it opened. Finally made it there last Saturday. Food was very good. Service was very good. Looking forward to going back.
The food is fresh and delicious. We three different pasta dishes. Linguine with clams, linguine with shrimp and broccoli rabe, and spaghetti with pesto, marinara, and ricotta cheese, were served hot and were delicious. We also had the arugula salad with pears and balsamic glaze which was great.
This is a nice bring your own restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious fresh meal.
Overall, excellent Sicilian restaurant, homemade pastas. Menu has many items not found in other Italian restaurants. Wonderful, best around gelato. Friendly, charming owner. Nice atmosphere. Great outdoor space. Parking available.
Ate here the other night and it was delicious. Had the eggplant for appetizer and altho the dish was hot, the eggplant was lukewarm but very good. My entree was gnocchi and it and the sauce was delicious. I must say here the waiter and busboy was terrific. Every thing I asked for came immediately and with a smile. I realized we were running late for an appointment, mentioned that to the busboy and was handed my check immediately. There were two difficult patrons in the restaurant that evening and the wait staff continued to be friendly and courteous.
I will definitely return to this restaurant.
My husband and the other couple loved the food and would definitely return. Their only complaint was that the ambiance was lacking. I don't necessarily agree. They thought the lighting was a bit too bright. Maybe it could have been more candlelight. But I truly enjoyed my evening and would recommend this restaurant. If you want great food, and real Italian gelato for dessert, this is a definite. I think it's the only true Italian place in Red Bank.
Early evening Friday meal, seated immediately. Few other diners. Service was good, until place filled up within the hour (by 6:30PM). Appeared that kitchen could not keep up with getting food out timely. Waiter was apologetic and tried to service to our needs. Establishment is BYOB, and they cater to your needs (opening, glasses, refills, etc.) there. Food quantity was on par for price, however, everything was bland / underseasoned. Desserts were highlight of the meal.
food was ok nothing to brag about
a bit pricey for what you get
service so so
A very good Italian restaurant in an unprepossessing setting. This was our second time eating here and with a group of seven including three kids we had a lovely Easter lunch. The gelato is especially notable as is the service. But don't forget your wine, especially on Easter Sunday when all the local liquor stores are closed.
Went to dinner here on Saturday evening with my wife and two teenagers. We all had apps, entrees and a dessert. The food was average. Not bad, but not great. Foodies would be disappointed. My wife and I had a spinach salads to start and again -- OK. Tasty but not great. I do like BYOB aspect of this corner neighborhood place, but the food brings you back. Likely will return at some point but in no rush to do so.
I will say the service was very good. Very attentive. High marks in that aspect!
My husband and I liked the food. The place was small but nice. We did not like the preparation of the swordfish. The menu did say breaded and grilled but when we asked the waiter he said that there was just a sprinkling of breadcrumbs on top of the fish. It was not a sprinkling. The breadcrumb coating masked the flavor of the fish. A simple olive oil, thyme, lemon and caper dressing would have been much better. Also, the eggplant caponata appetizer was good but the grilled bread that accompanied the dish should be scaled down. Way too big and too much. Overall, we would go back and probably bring some of our friends.
Incredible dining experience. The level of service and hospitality by ownership, wait service, and staff is unmatched by any other restaurant in Red Bank. The food in consistently top quality and fresh. The daily specials are innovative and delicious. I Highly recommend the Sicilia Cafe!
Delicious meal, attentive, staff and a very pretty view of Broad Street lit up at night!
We made a reservation for 6:45. Upon arrival, we were told that we had to wait for our table. The wait was 15 min.. When we entered the dining room there were two empty tables with "reserved" signs on them I had made a reservation. What was up with that? When seated, we were greeted by our waiter who opened our wine and took our order, but then seemed to forget about us. We had to ask another server for water and bread. The second server delivered our meal, but I don't recall anyone "checking in" with us again. The food was just okay.
I recently had a foot operation. Vincenzo greeted me and my wife warmly. Provided comfort and I was seated quickly. Our dishes were superb. NEVER a rush. I can't wait to come back.
My in-laws can be a bit particular about eating Italian Food out, as it is always compared to what they make at home. Well they gave Ristorante Silcila Cafe the stamp of approval, not a easy grade to give from this crowd. The food was delicious, fresh and well-prepared. The service was fabulous, accommodating to dietary issues, and timely. The restaurant itself is beautiful, comfortable, and conveniently located. Great pick to start the evening, before going to a show at Count Basie, and now on our "go to" list when we head in for another one. Thank You.
Experience was very good. I have been here many times and enjoy the food. Great that it is a BYOB.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! Consistently great food...will go again and again......
This was our 3rd trip back; previously, food and service very good. This time, horrible. One patron in group ordered 'grilled' salmon; well, it was pan-seared and 'old;' not 'fresh.' It was brought to server's attention; did offer to help. Usually, they would tell the manager, NOT; then,
manager would offer to help. Not this time; no one knew. Our server never came to ask how our meals were, nor is there anything he/she
could get. Also, he proceeded to sit at a table in which he knew the patrons; had to wait at least 20 mins. before he came back to ask was there anything else needed; check, please???
This is good service??? good food???
We had loved Sicilia in the past but our recent visit was very disappointing. Actually, we recommend removing what we ate from the menu. The Sicilian pest dish tasted like they used dried basil and was pretty inedible. The broccoli rabe seemed to be boiled and had too many stems. Overall, since we had taken a guest from California there, we were pretty embarrassed that the meal was not up to previous standards. The fig and arugula starter and lasagna were very good.
With owner Vincenzo greeting us at the door, freshly returned from a trip home to Italy, and the opening appetizer of Paneddi started the night off right with an amazingly simple combo of flavor and texture. Followed with fresh figs, prosciutto, goat cheese and arugula with a fig balsamic glaze and we were in our food happy place. All of the entrees, whether Gnocchi and Fettuccine Bolognese from the menu, or a Veal special were perfectly prepared, hot, fresh and just the right portion size. A special treat of Tiramisu for our guest of honor as well as Pumpkin, Pistachio and Cherry/vanilla Gelato rounded out the meal - of course we had to have a cup of coffee (so good it has to be drunk black) in the charming square coffee cups.
We walked into a deli, were a bit taken aback, and then led to a lovely dining room. The food was good, presented nicely and the service was attentive. Great salad, but my chicken was just a little over-cooked. BYOB-would surely go back.
Food delicious. We met friends and asked for time to talk which request was granted. Items are ala carte so can be a bit pricey but food choices varied and very tasty. Would recommend.
Sicilia is a welcoming restaurant with delicious Sicilian food. The staff is friendly and helpful. You feel like you are having a good dinner in a friend's dining room--except when you're outside. Then you feel like you're eating with friends on their patio. :)
The food was good but the service was just fair. We waited to long for are waiter to first come to the table to introduce himself to us. Then his timing was off. He brought a cocktail fork after I was finished with my muscles . He served us coffee but didn't bring milk. Other then that the food made up for us short comings.
Food had no taste....ready in 5 minutes so it seemed like it all was frozen and microwaved....portions small and price high for what you got....everything ala carte....had to go for something to eat afterward.....do not recommend
Our first experience at this great restaurant. Varied Menu with perfectly prepared italian entrees. Homemade gelato better than gelato we had in Italy. Great service with added touch of complementary limoncello. Can't wait to go back to try other entrees.
We should have suspected something when we were the only people at the restaurant for most if the time we were there. The food here is lackluster at best - everything we tried was bland and boring. The staff were very nice and many were from Italy so we expected much tastier food. It's a shame because they have a lovely outdoor dining area.
Food was very good. We felt kind of rushed, but that may be because it was near theater time.
We came here- two adults, two teens. The menu is diverse. It was able to accommodate a vegetarian and a low carb dieter! Everything was very fresh. My husband said the lasagne was extraordinary! It's a little pricey and no liquor license although you can call a local liquor store which will deliver to your table. We enjoyed it!
We were a party if 3. We had the rice balls which were excellent (it's so hard to find good rice balls!!), fried calamari, antipasta, and a special mozzarella salad for shareable apps. Dinners were spicy penne vodka with sausage, veal tortellini and chicken franchise. I would not change a thing!! After all if that we had assorted gelatos! Absolutely amazing :)
The focus is on taste not on amount..and the taste is excellent. Although focus is on taste the portions are really substantial. True Italian cusine.
Food was fresh n well prepared. Staff was helpful but not well informed with question about menu.
It came out both burned and raw! The leaves had the consistency of leather! Stuffing was meager and not very good. Chocolate mousse cake was delicious. The waiter consistently brought out the wrong dishes to our table.
