Spaghetti alla Carbonara
Spaghetti with a silky sauce of eggs, parmigiano cheese, pancetta and white wine
Frittura di Calamari
Fried calamari served with marinara dipping sauce
Fettuccine with traditional veal, beef and pork based tomato sauce
We stumbled upon Saraceno and loved it. The carbonara was my personal favorite entree, but everything was delicious. Their caesar salad was one of the top five I've ever had (not too creamy, not too oily). The staff was friendly, attentive, and kind.
Our favorite restaurant in Boston and it's owner, Frank, is always there to ensure quality and excellent service.
Excellent little gem. Service was great. Sea bass was cooked perfectly.
Great food , Great service, will definitely be back..
Typical North End feel, many outdoor spots too. The food was good, the service was fine. The red sauce was very tasty and the calamari was light and crisp. Would return!
Didn’t actually get to eat here. Made a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday and wouldn’t have been surprised to wait a little bit past that time considering it being a weekend night. However, they don’t seem to have any real system to check in or track reservations - the poor host would just have to step out into the crowd of people surrounding the door waiting to be seated, and the most aggressive people would get rewarded by getting a table. I waited around for 20 minutes and never got the host to even notice me. Went somewhere else for dinner.
All parts of the meal were very nice. If you want a quiet dinner, however, do not eat outside on a Friday night! Hanover Street is packed and noisy.
They don’t seem to have a system to keep track of reservations and they do not have a host/hostess stand. It took a very long time after we ordered to receive our food. After we were finished, we waited 25 minutes and then had to flag down the waiter to give us our check. The table next to us had the same problem. We were outside so I am sure that was the reason despite outdoors being very packed. Overall food was decent but did not feel special or nice by any means. Would not go back.
Fantastic Restaurant. We've enjoyed a wonderful pre-race Boston Marathon meal for several years now. Lots of different friends have joined us over the years and everyone is always pleased. Relaxing, cozy atmosphere (you will feel as if you are in Italy) and delicious homemade Italian dishes. They were also extremely accomodating when we had to add or remove people to our reservation. Highly recommend!!
Excellent place to eat. Loved the ambiance. Highly recommend.
Excellent evening. Food is always great here. The only downside tonight was that our server did not offer coffee or dessert. But everything is upside down these days so we will definitely e back!
Food was delicious! Service was great. Music was a little odd at times but overall nice ambiance.
Looks like a small place coming off the street but basement is huge with lots more tables. Dinner was delicious and great service.
Just okay. Had reservations at 7. Wasn’t seated til almost 7:30. Hostess clearly doesn’t like her job, could barely talk to you, certainly couldn’t smile. Not good when you’re the one greeting people. Very crowded, tables super close to one another. We were in a corner table, next table was seated a few minutes later and 2 of the 4 folks could hardly get into the chairs. One guy and myself kept bumping elbows even though we kept adjusting our chairs.
Tables were in the basement of building, cute but very narrow stairs and low ceilings.
Food super slow to come out. Stuffed mushroom app was supposed to be sausage/breadcrumbs/cheese. Only came with breadcrumbs-no sausage, no cheese. Very blah.
Entrees just ok, nothing special. With all the fabulous restaurants in the north end I certainly wouldn’t return to this one.
We used to love going here. They used to make us feel like family, but the last time we went was less than par. We asked for balsamic for the caprese salad, it never came. We were never told the pricing of the specials so when we got the bill that was a shock and the parm cheese made me food taste moldy… this was definitely not what we are used to when we come here.. hopefully next time will be better
Horrible experience. We were taken the the third floor of a completely dead quiet room and when we had to order we were urged to order all at once. Overall we overpaid for average food and rude/rushed service.
The owner greeted us when we walked in and couldn't have been more accommodating. He was eager to make sure we got the perfect table to sit at. The food was out of this world. There were 5 adults and every plate looked like it was licked clean! I can't wait to go back.
Service was grear
Best eggplant parmigiana I've ever tasted!
Another great North End restaurant. Food was delicious and staff was excellent.
Wonderful service and great food! Always a great experience!
We were seated 20 minutes late, our table was not cleaned after the previous guests, it took 30 minutes just to get bread and water, and even then nobody came over to even ask us if we wanted anything to drink. Since it was nearly an hour after our reservation was scheduled to start and we still hadn’t seen a server, we decided to leave.
We got sat in a table that was way too small and people constantly kept bumping into us. The music speakers were also right above us and so loud we couldn’t hear each other. The food was decent but the portions were fairly small
Great food and service. With all the choices in the North End - Saraceno's is always a great choice. Not a tourist trap! Just great food at reasonable prices.
The owner, Frank, welcomed us and the whole staff was very welcoming. The warm welcome was made all the better by great food, one of the best Italian meals I’ve had, and great fellowship with friends. Highly recommend Saraceno!
Excellent Mussels, fresh pasta, amazing Zuppa De Pesce. Overall, lovely ambience upstairs - very romantic. I love bread as a starter and would have liked a bit of olive oil with cheese instead of cold hard butter. That would be my only suggestion - improve the bread and butter/olive oil.
Great place for authentic Italian food. Attentive staff, great options fir fresh seafood. Have dined here many times with our family and will plan to dine here again.
Great food and excellent service.
Shrimp and scallop scampi was delicious!!
The restaurant reused napkins AND silverware AND glassware after a family left the table because it was taking too long. That is unacceptable
Good food, reasonable prices, good service, nice on street dining!
Our favorite place in the North End!
Best Italian food in the United States
We came to visit our daughter and she took us to HER favorite Italian restaurant. This did deliver!
Served us leftover bread for another table. 3 hours before meals arrived.
I went here for my birthday with my family, it was great! the food was delicious, wine sooo tasty and the service was awesome. I forget my servers name but he made sure we had what we needed. the north end is always super busy but we sat near the window since we had a larger party and it wasn't bad at all. This place is definitely one of my new favorites and I can't wait to go back again
Haven’t been there in years & was very disappointed.
It was ok. Would come back for sure!
