Ristorante San Marco Ratings and Reviews
Even though the food was awesome we did not like the idea we had to order off a fixed menu with INFLATED prices!
We were not offered bread we had to ask for it! No butter or oil! Had to ask for more water and once dinner was over it took forever to get our check and then we had to to stand to get the attention of the hostess to pay! I guess we can chalk it up to the night being Valentine’s Day ,but the service should always be the same, good!! I’d give them another try but not on a special occasion!
We had a very enjoyable meal It was Valentine's Day so they had a special menu for the day which offered a variety of choices. Even though it was a holiday, the service was not rushed , the food was very good and we were able to have a nice celebration. We look forward to going back when we can order from the regular menu.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always done perfectly and the selections are terrific. I had the black Lobster Ravioli topped with seafood, it was wonderful. The fried calamari was among the best I ever had, very tender and crispy too! The expresso was very tasty, and served with a lemon twist to finish the fabulous dining. Definitely a go to place!!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. A go to when we feel like treating ourselves. There is always a good selection of specials, especially fish in addition to the regular menu. We usually order the gnocchi in gargonzola sauce as our pasta course. Hand made and so light. Their seafood bisque and raw oysters are also favorites. The food is a little pricey but worth it.
The service is very good. The restaurant can be a little noisy on a Saturday night but not so much that you can't hold a conversation. Plan to arrive a little early so you can enjoy a drink in the piano bar.
Ristorante San Marco has become a regular spot for us. We are there probably 3 times a month, so almost once a week. The menu is large enough and changes enough (with many items as specials and not on the menu that is online) that it never gets boring. Food is delicious and expertly prepared, plentiful and served hot (a pet peeve of mine). They have a large wine list that is fairly priced but as an added bonus - if you are so inclined - they allow personal wine to be brought and there is a $15 per bottle corkage fee (very reasonable) except on Monday and Tuesday when corkage is free. A nice separate bar area with a piano player Thursday through the weekend is a nice touch. There are few truly authentic high end old school Italian restaurants in the area. Normally you get either pedestrian red gravy joints or stuff that is so haute cuisine that you can't tell what you're eating and you come away hungry. San Marco makes it the way mama made it and you won't go away any way other than satiated and satisfied.
The food was phenomenal! We went there for my mother's birthday on a Saturday night. The waiters were pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed with how crowded the restaurant was. The waiter listed about 10 different specials and two of us ordered the grouper that was a special. The grouper was fantastic! I would definitely go there again just for the fish. The only negatives amount the meal was how rushed the staff seamed to be and it seemed that it stemmed from the owner who was running around and bumping in to guests. My husband had a leg brace on from a recent surgery and the brace is very obvious to everyone. The owner and wait staff ran in to him several times. One of the waiters actually apologized on behalf of the owner and others. We will definitely be going back just for the food and will go on a slower night. Hopefully, everyone will move a little slower and we won't feel so rushed.
We haven't been back for many months...out of our neighborhood but do come before Act 2 Playhouse around the corner. 4 Of us were welcomed from the moment we came in. The waiters are from "the old days"....attentive, professional but friendly and accommodating. Then there's the menu....whatever the kitchen prepares (mostly Italian) is delicious....my leftover osso bucca is in the fridge (portion huge and every mouthful delicious. Split an avacado salad...beautifully prepared. Fish, meat or pasta ...they've got it all. 2 desserts outstanding.
Never disappoints. Large selection of well made classic Italian dishes but also many with their own spin. Portions are generous. NOTE - the menu online is only the beginning. There are many, many daily specials. There are always fish, veal and often lamb specials, special apps and Monday and Tuesday are free BYOB nights. Well worth it although their wine list pricing is very fair with many nice selections. Frankly as good or better than any Italian restaurant in the City.
This was my first time visiting San Marco. Everything was amazing. I had the pasta special with calms and crab in a white wine sauce. My husband had the fettuccine bolognese. It was the best Italian meal we have had in a long time. The wait staff was very attentive. Don't forget to leave room for dessert. I would highly recommend Ristorante San Marco. I look forward to visiting again soon.
Ordered the linguine pescatore - the shrimp, clams and scallops were nicely prepared but the mussels were putrid. It wouldn't have bothered me as much if the dish wasn't littered with them. They smelled and tasted bad. I think if the mussels aren't running good that night, they should sub in extra of the other shellfish or add calamari.
