Ristorante Piccolo Ratings and Reviews
We were disappointed, we went there for a birthday and had a few issues. The tables are very close together and waiters kept hitting my chair every time they walkef by, the capse salad was poor size and quality, the chicken parm was small, and the prices were steep.
Excellent service. Top quality food....the Osso bucco was as good as I have ever had in North America. The complimentary dessert was a mocha cocoa tiramisu that the three forks probing it were actually dueling. The back room was holding two 12 or 14 person parties....the noise was at the high end of enjoyment but the food was promptly served and the three of us closed this cozy high-Italian ristorante down.
This continues to be a favorite for my boyfriend and I when we’re looking to celebrate an occasion. We came both for Valentine’s Day this year and tonight to celebrate his promotion. Tonight, we were seated in the back, at a quiet table, where the noise level was very reasonable and the ambiance was romantic. The service was excellent - and the food even better. They homemake all pastas and sauces, giving you a one of a kind Italian experience here in Washington DC. I highly recommend the fried risotto meatballs for an appetizer and the gnocchi (my favorite) for dinner, paired with the Tuscan Red Blend wine. The violinist made his rounds from room to room tonight playing Christmas music, and the restaurant had adorable holiday decorations set up. Overall this is my favorite venues for a romantic date or celebration and I will continue to choose this place in the future. Highly recommend!!!
We have dined here a few times previously and it is very consistent. Great food and great service. They have always met our reservation times, always received our meals prepared perfectly, and always have outstanding service. Price is very reasonable considering location, food and service. Too bad we live in NOVA and not closer in!
I made a reservation at 11:00am and arrived there at 11:00am to meet my friends. The staff told me the restaurant will be open at 11:15am and I should come back and locked the door. If the restaurant changed the opening time or the confirmation time for their own reason, they should inform the customer in advance. Their service and attitude were not welcoming, unkind, and unprofessional.
Would absolutely return! I wanted to bring my parents (visiting from out-of-town) somewhere nice, but not so nice that we would need a magnifying glass to see our food. I had a couple of fun cocktails (mint leaves, prosecco, raspberries, etc.) and ordered the pistachio-encrusted chicken with sauteed spinach and Tuscan mashed potatoes and WOW - so delicious. There was a violinst walking throughout the restaurant, and it had a lovely cosy Italian atmosphere. Our waiter seemed to always be in a hurry, but we had a great rapport - he dropped us a piece of chocolate mousse cake at the end of our meal - such a nice, unexpected end of the meal!
When we arrived I️ thought I️ was going to HATE this place but I️ was pleasantly surprised. 1. If you go here in the winter try not to sit close to the front door. There are old French doors that open and they don’t seem to stay closed. A woman got up from her seat at least 4 times to slam the doors shut as she was annoyed by people coming and going in and out with the draft.
After a few minutes the host took us to our upstairs table. Upstairs was very warm/hot. So warm that they opened the door to let some fresh air in. There was a a man playing a violin (in a very small space) this was kind of annoying yet charming. If it had lasted longer than a few minutes I️ would have been really annoyed considering he was at one point standing right behind my head. The waiter took at least 15 minutes before even offering us a drink. By the time he came over we placed our drink and full dinner order. However, once he came over he was lovely and very attentive. The appetizer arrived just 1 minute after we had our drinks. They pour very generous sized glasses of wine 👍🏼.We had the fried mozzarella which was delicious. Our entrees arrived almost immediately after finishing the appetizer. The mushroom raviolis and linguini with clams were both excellent but it just felt very rushed. They gave us plenty of time to complete our entrees before offering dessert. We chose the chocolate mousse as well as tiramisu. Both were phenomenal.
The women’s bathroom is located upstairs. It was very dirty and disgusting. Paper towels were thrown everywhere but there were none for you to actually use after washing your hands (they should have an employee check this every few hours- it was gross! ).
Overall, the food was very good. It could use some fine tuning with the atmosphere/service but we were very happy with our meals!
We have spent many great times at Ristorante Picolo. We have never been there on
a Saturday night. Jammed packed. Prefer to go on a weeknight. Service has always been impeccable. Food is always on par. It's the place we love to go for special occasions. Even though husband has to work NYE, we will go a day or two before all dressed to the nines and let them know it's our NYE and we are treated royally.
Took my husband here before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center. We had been looking forward to a date night and opportunity to get dressed up- this place allowed us to make it the night we wanted. Some folks dressed up (and later spotted at the Kennedy center too), some in jeans. Cozy seating, delicious food, great staff. Tiramisu was outstanding! Will definitely come back!!
We were glad to get a last-minute reservation. Unfortunately, the concierge sat us by the front door, and every time it opened, I got a blast of 35- degree wind at my back. Very noisy, and our waiter kept pushing us to buy a bottle of wine instead of the draft beer we wanted. It's an average restaurant with decent food. Not a memorable place, however.
Very nice evening with my date, my wife of 30 years. We were in town for business . My wife's favorite is Italian and this place was recommended by a coworker. It was spot on great service and great food. We arrived before 6:30 and took advantage of the fix price menu options and half price wine. For two with food and a bottle of wine it was $78. Again very good and I would recommend.
Our first visit to Ristorante Piccolo, and we will be back. We went pre-theatre on a Saturday night and sat on the tiny but lovely balcony overlooking 31st Street. The food was excellent -- especially the grilled octopus in polenta, a special appetizer. The wine recommended by the waiter was yummy. And everything was fairly reasonably priced. We're looking forward to coming back when it gets colder and sitting inside this time, near one of several cozy fireplaces.
We wanted to have a good meal in Georgetown while on vacation, and while we selected Ristorante Piccolo pretty blindly, we were very happy with the food and service. Accounting for DC being a relatively expensive area to dine in, it was still a bit pricey for what it was, but our meals were delicious and we did find the service to be very helpful. I'll crave my lobster ravioli for weeks!
