greeted and sat at a table promptly waited a bit for water and cocktail food arrived quick enough from an empty dining room ordered 4 apps NO BREAD! what italian restaurant EVER runs out of bread? esp with many italian restaurants next door and nearby! I ordered mussels, in which i believe should have been mentioned that no baguettes in house. i did bring it up to our server, He removed the cost from our bill, ALONG WITH THE DISH OF MUSSELS DELIVERED TO OUR TABLE. WTH! we ate quickly and disappointed, ready to leave this situation. NEVER Again and will not recommend this place to anyone! btw: after we paid for the bill, someone bought over a small plate of naan or homemade something. too late! and i no longer had mussels to sop up!

They were just kind of rude and there are way better Italian restaurants on the same street. The place was empty but the host acted like he wouldn’t seat us without our whole party. I understand if it’s packed, but there was one other table in a huge restaurant. Even when we left, the place was empty, so it’s not like they had tons of reservations coming in. Customer service these days is just going down the tubes. Can I just be greeted pleasantly? I mean, geez. Also, they shoved our five top into this tiny table in a corner, and we joked about if all of our plates would fit (they didn’t, and the waiters struggled to get our plates on the table, forcing us to hold them while they figured it out). Why not just put us at one of the giant empty tables in the empty restaurant? Food was ok…nothing great. Sauce tasted like a can. Il canali is right there next to this place. Way better quality and service. Just go there.

The ambience was so romantic. I loved the live violinist. If you say it’s your birthday you will get a slice of cake and a violin serenade. Waiter was very blunt and casual. Food was 10/10 italian food.

We started with fried Calamari. It was mostly rings, which was good, but it was too chewy. Was it too old, or just undercooked, who knows? My wife had the Tortellini, which was a large serving, and she was satisfied with it. I had the Agonoloti, which was an ample serving. It was good, but very rich. It was supposed to be their signature dish, and if so, their top of the line is not exceptional. The restaurant is relatively small, but it still took a long time to get served. On the other hand, it was Saturday night and it was very busy. Nevertheless, on the whole, we think we could do better elsewhere and won't be coming back anytime soon.

I really loved this restaurant! It has an intimate feeling, was upscale but did not feel like I could not arrive in jeans either. They had a nice fire going in the fireplace for the crisp day! The host was charming, our waiter was excellent with consistent service throughout. I recently had been to Filomena and Il Canale, both were very good, but this place is definitely my favorite among them. The food was outstanding. We had the calamari and meatballs for appetizers. Then ordered veal with crabmeat and pistachio encrusted chicken for our entrees. These were all excellent, just ridiculously good authentic Italian food. Being of Italian descent, I do not say this lightly! We could not decide on a dessert but chose the chocolate cake which was unreal! Because of our indecision our amazing waiter brought over torte di mandorle (winner of the Taste of Georgetown) on the house! It was incredibly kind of him and it was delicious. This is my favorite place in Georgetown and I will be going again bringing my family.

The restaurant was wonderful. They were not busy on a Monday night so I can't speak to Saturday night, but service was excellent. I started off with a specialty drink made from Bombay gin and Galliano. My husband had tortellini carbonara and I had fettuccine oceana. Speaking for myself, there was a lot of lobster, shrimp and scallops. The sauce was very light and delicious. My husband had a chocolate cake for dessert and I had the prize winning tiramisu. It was a large piece and deserving of the honor. One negative is they did not have decaffeinated coffee. Ristorante Piccolo is a little pricey for us but was the perfect special occasion restaurant.

My only request is to slow down the pace of food to the table, I felt rushed, main meal came before I finished my salad. I also appreciate when staff not interrupt multiple times our conversation. My experience in Rome, Florence, and Venice was a more relaxing dinner experience. I think the blue of the experience could be enhanced here as well. Could have been the specific waiter, as my prior experiences were more favorable and less rushed.

This restaurant is located in a darling old home, and the ambiance is very nice. They have a violin player walking around to add a bit of flare. The staff was wonderful; very attentive, helpful and polite. The food was fabulous! Between us we had the grilled rock fish, spaghetti with sausage, tortellini carbonara, and the chicken scallopini. We ordered a bottle of Sangiovese Tuscana, a glass of rose and a glass of Riesling as well as one appetizer and the bill was only $250 for four adults. When we visit DC again we will be sure to return!

My wife and I celebrated her birthday and Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14th and were really impressed with their caliber of the food. They also had a violinist who was happy to play the birthday song for my wife as we dined on their entire desert menu and the other patrons sang along.

The table was kinda small and the food took a bit long and after we got our food we didn’t see our server until we asked for the check no once he came back to check on us or anything we were planning on getting some drinks with our meal but did not get the chance to do so since we didn’t see our server for the rest of the time we were there we had to ask someone to get us the check. Hopefully if we go back next time the experience might be different but for our first time going there it wasn’t great at all.

Beautiful place to celebrate an anniversary. Loved the little Italy feel when you first walk up to the restaurant with the dining on the balcony. I felt like I was in a small oral restaurant in the heart of Italy. The violin player was also a nice romantic touch. My boyfriend and I shared the calamari, the mussels, and the Spaghetti Puttanesca. We also had tiramisu for dessert. It was absolutely splendid! Can’t wait to go back!

Food was mehhhhh - bread came out cold and hard. Server had to give us a new one. Lasagna not a lot of meat. Seafood spaghetti nothing to get excited about. The calamari too chewy and soggy. The food was salty. The only good I can say is our glass of water was always full.

Everything was fantastic except my wife’s seafood had way too much red pepper flakes rendering it too spicy. My meal was delicious. I would return in the hope that the next meal is better.

My friends and I had a wonderful time. The food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. The restaurant is very cozy. -Bravo!
