I must admit that my dinner party was close to an hour late due to my graduation ceremony in DC taking longer than expected. They seated us at the same table we had reserved, and didn't complain about our lateness. The food was delicious, and the prices very reasonable. This was about 8:30 on a Thursday evening, but the restaurant and bar were almost empty and so provided a quiet place to gather and enjoy the meal.
Food was good service was good. Menu ls out dated and leaves something to be desired. But overall a good experience.
Food was very good
A great place to bring the family. Good food that is reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Both our appetizer and entrees came out room temperature/borderline cold. I will probably not return to this restaurant. It's moderately priced, but just not worth a $30-40 check when all said and done. It's a cute little space in a nice location.
Once again, Murali did not disappoint. Wait staff was attentive and prompt. Food was excellent. And the price was quite affordable.
Once again, wonderful as always. Prompt, attentive service and great menu and wine list. Citizens of Pentagon City really need to get out and sample this gem more often.
My family and I went to this restaurant on short notice the night before my Air Firce retirement ceremony and the experience was amazing. The staff was very patient and allowed me to change my reservation several times while waiting for family members to get into town. They were very accommodating since we had a large party. Everything was set up when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The service was superior; The food and drinks came fast and everything was delicious. There was something for everyone on the menu; my husband begged my sister to try to copy the calamari dish! My father is Italian borne and hit it off with the staff and manager. They were so very appreciative of our business and complimentary of my Dad. The evening couldn't have been more special.
Another great meal with out of town friends at Pentagon Row's Murali on Saturday night (even with the pre-USMC Marathon crowd). Wait staff extremely attentive. Meals came out hot and delicious despite what must have been colossal workload in the kitchen given the crowd. Wine excellent as always. And everything in a great atmosphere and at an extremely reasonable price. Absolutely will recommend to friends -- and have done so repeatedly. Murali is simply a great go-to experience for us to enjoy an evening with friends.
I had the chicken piccata and my husband had the chicken marsala. We both very much enjoyed the chicken and each of our sauces were EXCELLENT. However, the PASTA didn't taste fresh at all -- it was worse than when I boil pasta from a box. Additionally, our server was one of the worst servers I have ever had. He systematically ignored us and left us waiting for water, said he would do bring us water / bread etc. and then didn't bring us anything, and (unsurprisingly) took forever to bring us the check and to run our credit card. This was not a good experience.
Food was above average Italian Fare and about what one could might expect from an outdoor mall setting. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. A problem with the A/C made the experience less than comfortable on the hot evening we had dinner.
I have dined at Murali on a number occasions while visiting the area on business. The food is good - not spectacular but very tasty and reliable. The service is excellent and the staff seems to genuinely like pleasing customers. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I would heartily recommend Murali for those wishing to have a quiet dinner.
Food was great and service was even better. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Exceptional service, and not simply b/c we were early for lunch! We wanted for nothing. Warm, friendly, attentive, accommodating. We meet the boss there about once a year and she never fails to rave.
One of best independent family style Italian restaurants in the area. House prepared pasta and cheeses are very good, menu selection offers nice variety of fresh products both seasonal and traditional. The staff of Murali always makes you feel welcome and like, 'It's your place." Prices are very reasonable considering location. Nice wine list and drinks in comfortable, welcoming setting. Chef's specials are always excellent, and don't miss the pumpkin ravioli! Great place for dinner for two or an amiable group.
It was my mothers birthday. I noted this in the reservation. Nothing was done for that. And no I'm not asking for a free dessert or anything like that. Mussels were horrible in flavor. Lamb was amazing as was the lasagna. Wine selections needs to be updated. My wine tasted like vinegar. Overall, good experience. It was a slow and rainy night. They only had 2 servers and manager never came to check on our table.
I stay in the area on business travel. I was looking for a change from the usual restaurants. I wasn't interested in a full meal and tried murali making a meal out of salad and appetizers. Everything was good. I'll be back to try some of the entrees at another time
The food was very good, but not great. Our appetizer was underwhelming, entree was solid. Save room for the creme brulee, as it was definitely the highlight! Our server was very friendly, helpful, and gave detailed recommendations. There are so many other good options in the area, but if Italian is what you want, give this place a shot.
Good reliable Italian at very reasonable prices. Order something that is homemade in house, like the lamb sausage or ravioli and you can't go wrong.
It is a very convenient location for lunch. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant was not crowded, probably because of the cold weather, so it felt like private dining. The food, as I have always experienced in the past, we well prepared and hot. All in all a very enjoyable experience.
My wife and I enjoyed the food and it was nice to look out the window and see the snow falling and ice skaters enjoying themselves on the ice rink that has seasonally replaced the little park area. The staff was very nice and courteous.
The food, service, and venue were fantastic! My only two complaints would be that there was a very large group in the back with lots of children. The kids were running around like crazy and they were incredibly loud. I did appreciate the fact that they tried to seat us (and everyone else) far away from them as possible. I did wish that management would have spoken with the group to quite things down and not let the kids run around. It was Valentines Day at a nice restaurant! I do understand that there is only so much that can be done though. The other thing was that the door would not be shut all the way and was making the restaurant very cold. Especially for us since they sat us close to the door. I will definitely come back again despite those complaints. Like I said, The food and service were great and the restaurant very clean and pretty!
The mushroom appetizer was not fully cooked, service was very slow and too expensive for the quality of the food. The advertised price was not what was charged.
For a wonderful authentic Italian meal, this is the place to go. Prices equal to great meal. Setting is quiet and nice. Recommend highly.
I love this Italian restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is above amazing. The wine list meets all my expectations and then some. I go there often and would recommend it to anyone. Very nice atmosphere, too!
Always have great service and good food, easy to get to and easy to park. This place is a definite go to for lunch!!!
Nice neighborhood restaurant with moderate prices and good food.
I loved eating here when my company had an apartment in the area, but I hadn't been here in about 2 years. When we walked in, the man who greeted us remembered us & was really happy to see us again. The gnocchi, which was my favorite thing on the menu, changed a bit but was still absolutely wonderful. The spinach ravioli was as great as I remembered. I will be back when I'm back in DC soon, & I'll recommend it to anyone who asks.
I went here because I saw they have pumpkin ravioli on their menu, and that is one of my favorite dishes. However, the whole experience was underwhelming. The server lacked personality, the pumpkin ravioli had a very (too) subtle flavor and didn't taste very pumpkin-y. My husband's pizza was average. My glass of wine was the worst Riesling I've ever had. I am pretty sure it wasn't Riesling and that the server may have poured Chardonnay. My husband ordered a Sam Summer Ale, but he received a regular Sam Adams after he even verified that they still had Sam Summer on tap. I had really been hoping that this was going to be a restaurant we would love, but unfortunately I don't think we will be returning.
The food is excellent and the outdoor dining area is a great location.
I've been to Ristorante Murali before as I live across the street. I went for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday with her 2 little girls. The server was very nice and patient and very good with the kids. He treated them very well which was nice. The food was pretty good too. We ordered a lasagna for the girls and the server cut it into 4 pieces for us (the girls could only eat a quarter of the generous portion). The chicken marsala was good too and it came with penne. The lunch special (pork tenderloin I think) came with fettucine alfredo and vegetables. Pretty good sized portions. The calamari was good too and came with 2 dipping sauces. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
Food was good, but the service was painfully slow. There is only one server who knows what he is doing. The hostess cannot do anything else than showing us to our table, and the manager, who must have seen the slowness of the service, did not make ANY effort to help the waiter who was literally running around to serve every table in the restaurants. At the good restaurants I have been to, if there is shortage in staff, I have seen other floor staff, including managers themselves, help clean out the table, taking orders, etc. Clearly, that is not the case at this restaurant. I would go back there for meals if I have plenty of time for a leisurely meal, but not for business lunch, or when I have any time constraints.
I've eaten here before and loved it. Must have been an off-night. Portions were small and the quality wasn't up to par.
After reading all of the excellent reviews, I decided to reserve a table at Ristorante Murali on the first night of our D.C. trip. Well...when walking in, we noticed that the place was very quiet. There was an outisde area to sit but since it was very hot on this particular day, we opted to sit inside. The inside was just as HOT as the outside..not sure if the air conditioning was broken but a restaurant should not be uncomfortable to eat in.
The service was good, attentive and catered to our requests..why not, there were only two other tables inside the place!
Food was downright BAD. Chicken Marsala had limp, old mushrooms and was very greasy as well as the broiled Salmon.
If you are looking for somewhere with quality food, not your place!
My finance and I LOVED this restaurant! The mussels appetizer was outstanding - though it could have come with some Italian bread. We had the table bread so were able to lap up the delicious tomato/wine/garlic broth. The wait staff was extremely accommodating and pleasant. They were often around to make sure we had everything we needed, but didn't hover or try to rush us through (we ended up staying 4 hours for dinner!) The wine selection was great and both our main dishes (Linguine Pescatore and Crabmeat Ravioli) were outstanding! I definitely recommend any dish that has the spicy marinara sauce! It's not too thick, it's not runny, it's just got amazing flavor! Perfect place for a date night - We'll definitely be going back!
Dined on a weekend evening. Food was VERY good. Best chicken piccatta I have ever had. Fetticini alfredo was good too. Desserts were terrific. Service was a little slow even though it was not very crowded. Not easy to find either...kind of in the middle of the mall in a courtyard.
Would definitely go back!
I often go here for lunch and occasionally dinner. The veal parm entree is my favorite. Lunch can be busy here with many tables filled. However the few times I have had dinner here the place was quiet. They have a small bar with no happy hour which may be a reason why. Usually the service is very good. Definitely recommend.
food was very good and the waiter terrific ordered veal Marsala which was not on the menu and they accommodated
close to our meeting would go again next time in DC
I have always enjoyed this restaurant over the years and introduced this gem to colleagues.
the food here is always tasty and full of flavor. The desserts are great as well. Tiramisu is one of my favorites and they seem to have a really good one! We will return for sure.
