Ristorante Lombardo Ratings and Reviews
This place is a true gem, simply outstanding in every way. It's been in the hands of the Lombardo family since it opened over forty years ago, and their love of the restaurant they created and attention to detail is obvious from the moment you enter. When the Rolling Stones played Buffalo a couple years ago, Mick Jagger, having sought out the best Italian restaurant in the city, was directed here. Be aware that it's not your standard red sauce fare. With that caveat, highly recommended.
Business meal with a Customer. The apps were pretty good, two of the entrees were very disappointing, I had the tagliatelle with rabbit and it was all sauce, had a hard time finding any rabbit. Our guest ordered the Bone in Ribeye, medium rare and came rare/seared with tons of strings in it which made it tough to cut and chew. We sent it back and I’m return for the $59 Steak, they offered 1 free dessert for the table and three shots of italian liquor. Will not go back, BTW dinner for 3 was $424.00.
The only complaint I had was the noise. I mean I had a hard time hearing.
We had an amazing service experience which overall trumped the noise. The food was fantastic. Honestly I haven’t had food that good since I lived in Connecticut and what tipped that was the pricing. Phenominal prices for such amazing food and service.
Ristorante Lombardo has been a staple in the Buffalo cuisine arena for years. The service has never been anything besides wonderful. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and the staff is genuinely happy to be there. The food is remarkable and the experience overall is second to none in the City. Would instantly be anyone's favorite after dining there.
Lombardo’s is a great restaurant with superior service. The food is magical - the wood roasted beets an avocado salad was amazing. Veal Marsala was tender and incredible. The sauce was nicely seasoned. The Bolognese sauce was rich and creamy. Full of meat flavor, just a tad under salted. Great bourbon and wine list. Desserts are superb - no bad choices.
Lombardo's is a "destination" restaurant. Consistently in the top 5 for the Western New York region. We have been many times and always leave raving about the food and service. Unfortunately, this time the food was not as good and the service a bit on the inattentive side. First, I must comment on the wine prices. While the wine selections are excellent, Most are on the higher end and the prices have gotten out of control, making it difficult to find moderately priced options, either by glass or bottle. On the service side, the waiter forgot our wine order and did not prepare the Caesar salad table-side (but rather behind the backs of the two who ordered it and made no presentation of it at all). Not what we pay for. Also, our table was not visited by management as is usually our experience. On the food side, the "special" pasta was ordered by 2 in our party and when it arrived at the table it looked like it was dumped on the plates from one bowl. Mine had a ton of scallops but little pasta, hers the opposite. Others indicated that their pastas were "good"; no one was raving about the pastas. This is what Italian restaurants' reputations are made of! It is the busy holiday season but I have never found Lombardo's to be susceptible to the food/service dips during typically high volume times but this time they may have. On the bright side, there was a card on the table when we arrived for the birthday girl, signed by the entire staff. They also brought her a nice slice of birthday cake that had not been pre-arranged by anyone in our party. Nice touches. Nevertheless, for the prices, the experience needs to be better than Good. Still room for improvement Lombardo's!
The service was perfect, they really take care of you. The food was amazing. We had figs and table side Cesar salad for two. Both of these dishes were shared and devoured. We each got our own pasta and they were great! Loved everything about our experience. I highly recommend Lombardo!
Ristorante Lombardos is a great place to celebrate special occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries, as well as romantic evenings for fine food and excellent service. We celebrated my wife's 65th birthday recently and are already planning our next visit.
The restaurant had a birthday card at our table when we arrived and our server, Sarah was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. She made our dinner special. The food was outstanding and all four of us loved the appetizers and entrees selected. Desserts were also incredible. It was a perfect selection for my wife's special birthday and is highly recommended for any special dining in your plans.
my wifes steak was mostly fat.we didnt notice it until the next day since she took home the leftovers.the ambience was very romantic.i did enjoy the anchovies on my ceasar salad.the service was very good but for the money i would go to russels.the desswert was very good
Fairly empty when we arrived but we were nonetheless seated right next to a couple whose every word we could hear. (i.e. loud) Once other diners arrived it wasn't so noticeable, but it did seem odd when there were plenty of seating options for the four of us. Food is always great as is the service.
Staff extremely welcoming. Food very good . Classy place. Too Pricy. Server Did not mention no free tea refills which is lame in todays world.
I can see how people would like the restaurant. I dont appreciate the cost/benefit compared to other options around town.
We enjoyed our dinner at Lombardo's very much and will definitely be back. The only thing we would change is that we felt very rushed by our server. We ordered pre-dinner drinks, and had barely had a sip when our appetizers arrived. This is partially our own fault, as we had not stipulated that we did not want any food until we had enjoyed our drinks. We would have preferred to have a glass of wine with the appetizer, and then a second different wine with the main course, but as it was, our drink with the appetizer was our pre-dinner drink, and then we chose a glass of wine for the main course. On that note, the wines we both enjoyed by the glass were excellent.
Being in the hospitality business ourselves, we offer this criticism only as constructive to correct a small detail. Otherwise, we completely enjoyed everything about Lombardo's.
Thank you, Tommy and Chris!
