About Ristorante Lo Stella

"Lo Stella" Ristorante is the oldest and most successful family owned restaurant operation in Portofino, Italy. It is one of the country’s most renowned historic family owned and operated restaurants for more than 167 years. Now, downtown Denver is home to this historically famed Italian restaurant, led by the 8th generation family member, Alessandro Polo.
At " Lo Stella" Ristorante you will find the original recipes from previous generations like Pesto sauce, Bolognese sauce, marinara, fish ravioli, vegetable ravioli, pappardelle, tagliatelle, pizza and a lot of Colorado meat and fish products cooked in our "ligurian" style.
Lo Stella Ristorante has also had 25 years of great success in Tokyo, Japan until 2013 when Alessandro decided to move to Denver to open this authentic Italian Restaurant.

Great neighborhood restaurant. However, it is very noisy. I requested a quiet area but it didn’t happen.

I discovered lo Stella in the midst of a snow storm 3 years ago. It’s my favorite Italian and one of favorites overall in Denver. Great wine by the glass and good steaks and sides. Of course this owner comes from a family owned restaurant in portofono Italy that has over 150 years of history. Its location is convenient to downtown and has good street parking. Great for a special occasion or if u want to spoil yourself during a snow storm . 5 stars and kudos to the handsome owner and his staff.

Have dined here many times now when we visit Denver. The food is always delicious and it's just got a wonderful old school vibe. I always offset the trout and it's spectacular.

Great food and good ambiance. My wife and I have eaten at Lo Stella 4 times and we have always been satisfied with the food and service. The waiter was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions from the menu. There is a nice selection of Italian wines on the menu. You can park on the street and the neighborhood is safe. We plan on returning again in the near future. If you go there, try the pesto or the bolognese. They are both great!

I always have a wonderful dining experience at LoStella. I love the food and the service is extraordinary. It retains the feel of a great neighborhood bistro, but is very convenient to the downtown and Golden Triangle area. It's my go-to place, espcially for out of town guests or a quiet dinner with a good friend.

As good as it gets outside Italy. The food is easily on par with their 8 generation home in Portofino.

What an amazing experience as always. It reminds me of my visits to Italy. One of the 3-4 very authentic restaurants in all the US in my opinion.

I loved this restaurant! It was the first time we have been there and we plan to go back again! The only reason for the four stars is that I did not care for my meal (ravioli with a walnut sauce), but it was not because of the chefs...just not my cup of tea. I will try something different next time. However, my husband loved his Fruitti di Mare spaghetti.

We started with a Insalata caprese (Buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes and basil). It was a bit disappointing. It is peak tomato season and it seemed the tomatoes were hot house sourced. Such a shame as they didn't add any flavor.
The rest of the dishes we had were lovely and I would get them again. The Tagliatelle della “Nonna Laura” (Homemade tagliatelle with my grandmother’s bolognese sauce) was perfect. I would go back and try other pasta dishes and pizza as well.

I was disappointed with the homemade pasta, it didn't taste fresh and it seemed undercooked. It was my date's birthday bit they ended up charging me for the birthday dessert, pretty surprised by that. I thought the place was just OK, wouldn't go back.

Impeccable service, first class treatment without the formal attire. Friendly and helpful. The tables are far enough apart that you don't feel like you are eating dinner with the people next to you. They went over & above to meet our food requests. This restaurant is our new best friend!

We have eaten at Lo Stella a number of times, and it is always wonderful. Leonardo has taken care of us several times, and remembers us, even what wine we prefer. The food is always fresh and authentic and delicious. One of our favorite restaurants!

This little Denver Italian restaurant offers an authentic culinary experience for lovers of Italian food.

They prepare delicious pastas and other Italian favorites in a simple but real Italian way that is just so so delicious.

We sat outside and brought our dog and it was a wonderful Italian meal experience for us all.
