Wonderful meal - service was exceptional
Have been hosting business dinners there for several years; however, this was my wife's birthday dinner. She loves the restaurant and the food.
Food was disappointing- my wife had the Vitello Marianna Scalfaro and said it had not taste. I had the Chicken Medallion Sinatra and it was bland. The Penne Vodka was good however. Nice atmosphere and the service was solid.
Just OK. Food was good, service was better than food, price was OK. Overall, I would come back for a meal.
Wonderful service! Dorian my waiter was the best!
We were in the side room to the left, not the main dining room. The setting was perfect with a low noise level so that we could have a conversation without listening to others around us or having to shout to be heard. Service was excellent, attentive but nor intrusive. The food was as good as we remembered it from our first visit back in 2010. I cannot think of anything that was not excellent.
The chicken parm was very good but luke warm The server seemed to be absent most of the meal, but later apologized
Positive: Food was good. My wife said it was the best Chicken parm that she as ever had. I had the broiled seafood platter. Scallops were wonderful. Shrimp was good.
Negative: everything else. My 9yo daughter asked for a kids menu. The waiter asked if she wanted spaghetti and meatballs or cheese ravioli in a "kids size". She chose spaghetti and meatballs. When it as brought out, it was a full plate adult sized serving (that we were charged $24 for!).
We arrived at 5:30pm. There was one other guest seated in the entire restaurant. There were 5 waitstaff standing around the bar talking. Not busy at all. I ran out of water twice and soda once. All three times I had to ask for refills. Our waiter checked on us once when we first got our food then disappeared after that for at least 30 minutes.
Food: I ordered the broiled seafood platter. I got 2 and 1/2 scallops ( you could see the knife marks where the half was cut!) , a 4oz lobster tail ( that was overcooked and rubbery) and a SINGLE, solitary shrimp. ($38 for that!) It also came with a 4oz dish of spaghetti swimming in garlic butter. I also ordered the broccoll rabe side dish. It was a canned product that was more warmed up than sauteed. For $9, I expected fresh with a vibrant flavor Not something that looked and tasted like supermarket frozen spinach.
I will not recommend LaPerla to anyone. Way overpriced for the product served. Food was great in some ways but terrible in others (a lot more bad than good) . Service is lacking. 1 star out 5.
Best classic Italian food I have ever had in the dc area. The pasta is excellent - dining room is traditional, elegant and tasteful. Not noisy at all- was easy to carry on a conversation . Loved it!
Have dined here many times and never disappoints. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly.
great as usual. The personal touches are really appreciated. It makes the wonderful food even more appreciated.
Tasteless food, warm wine and poor service. A total disappointment
As always great food and service
The service was really difficult. We had to ask repeatedly for them to come over and take our order, receive the check, order drinks, etc. The food was decent but I ate there about three years earlier and had such a great experience and the food then was outstanding. Not sure what changed, but I hope they can change it back!
Excellent! Perhaps the best Italian Trattoria in all of DC. Food was superb, service excellent, great ambience and quiet. I'll eat here every time I visit DC
