My ONLY complaint with this restaurant is the difficulty of parking during the day when there is no valet parking service. I would probably not attempt lunch again. It's great for after a performance at the Kennedy Center, or a nice dinner out.

Fantastic Italian cuisine in romantic setting. The chief/owner graced us with conversation, limoncello and a cake. Highly recommended!

Food at La Perla was flavorful. I had the mussels for appetizers and soft-shell crab as main course. Dessert was pistachio gelato. Servings were ample and the food yummy --and filled my hungry tummy! Service could be improved though. I noticed there was a private party going on in one of the side rooms and perhaps, that's where most of the serving staff was stationed. But they shouldn't forget about us--regular folks--who were dining. In spite of this oversight, enjoyed the evening with my friends very much--because of La Perla's sumptuous spread. Thank you.

The quality of ingredients is high. The overall flavor profiles are average. While sauces in general are flavorful, they obscure the natural ingredient flavors (for example, recent softshell crab special was drowned in butter wine sauce that was heavy for this type of dish). Prices are relatively high.

Great Italian dishes always prepared with extra care that make each one taste special. I don't think you can ever go wrong at La Perla (if you like Italian foods, of course !)

Old school and old food. Not as special as the reviews state. Service started out attentive and it became lax. All but one entree came out of the kitchen and then it was a mystery as to where it went. Stay away.

Excellent service. Food was delicious. The calamari up there with some of the best I've had- lightly breaded, well-seasoned, tender meat. Had the ravioli with lobster, and lobster mousse/champagne sauce.. 5 stars. Maybe could have had 1 or 2 more ravioli because I went back for more and there was none.. I'm not one to usually finish meals especially at Italian spots, so some ppl may find the portions lacking. Actually everybody cleared their plates. The veal parses an and seafood soup were hits as well. Parking is sparse. Overall would recommend for a tasty Italian meal.

Food, service and ambiance were all excellent. But the pricing was very high. $20 for two tomato slices topped with mozzarella is outlandish to me.

This is such a great place. Every time I have been there the food has been top notch. I love to bring out of town guests here, and it's great for a romantic evening. The Chef comes around to each table throughout the night, but it's not intrusive at all to your dining experience! Best place for Italian food in DC!

There was much to appreciate at La Perla: friendly staff, warm atmosphere, classy environment. My wife enjoyed her veal entree a great deal and we both found the Tiramisu to be exceptional. However, my main entree was a major disappointment: OVERPRICED AND BLAND small serving of supposedly imported prawns over pasta. A far more generous serving of protein in an more impressive presentation was called for.

We will try La Perla again....but with more limited expectations.

Ristorante La Perla of Washington is a hidden gem. Vitorio Testa and his staff never miss a beat. This is my go to restaurant in DC for business dinners. The Scungilli Marinara is to die for as an appetizer and can be shared by two. I had the Parpadelle Presidente for the first time this trip. The sauce was amazing and the seafood was fresh. Finished off with the Rasberry Cheesecake.
Don't miss this place.

We walked into La Perla for lunch after a 4 mile walk on a hot day. We looked less than wonderful. The staff was formally dressed but never made us feel that we were out of place. The food was delicious. My husband had the lamb chops and said they were the best he'd ever eaten. The portion sizes were perfect...not too much and not too little. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and cannot wait to go back!!

Greetings by the 'Head Guy' after dinner made the experience besides of course the great company at the table. We were celebrating our son performing at The Kennedy Center in the musical Chicago. Authentic, amazing Italian fare. I had brocclirabe and sausage with a side of penne, aioli and garlic and had tartufo for dessert and all other dishes were raved about, pastas and others. My Italian husband concurs and had 'the best' cannoli in a long time for dessert.

The ambience was lovely, the entrees were well prepared and delicious, but the poor service is reason enough to try another Italian restaurant. Our water was not refilled until we asked, bread came with the dessert menus (fortunately we didn't want any), and everything was slow. We skipped dessert , which looked great, because we thought it would take too long. Too bad, the food was good!

While the food was OK - the prices were outrageous. $19 for caprese "salad" which consisted of two tomato slices that weren't fully ripe, two slices of buffalo mozzarella (which was good) and a piece of basil. $33 for a pasta with shrimp, scallops and sausage. There were two scallops, one shrimp and three pieces of sausage. My husband ordered veal parmigiana and the veal was pounded so thin it was dry. Again -- for the price -- the meal just wasn't worth it. I was very disappointed.

The gnocchi with Bolognese was my favorite I've had in this area. We ordered several dishes for the table and shared a bunch. It was all delicious.
We showed up early for our reservation but were still seated upon arrival. I really appreciated that.

The food was delicious, but the service was terrible! The waiter bump into me at least twice, one of which he elbowed me in the head, and did not apologize or even acknowledge that it had happened. Furthermore, he reached across my plate no less than three times to serve others at the table. Needless to say, the service left something to be desired.

The menu is very impressive and lengthy, leading you to want to return to experience more offerings. Service was attentive.

Closest parking is valet at Four Seasons Hotel, a short walk over a bridge, at $18, well worth the convenience.

Very nice restaurant, a bit over the top decoration but the food was really good. I only thing that didn't leave a good impression to me was that I felt like they wanted us to leave the place probably because we were not fancy enough dressed. For instance they brought us the check without us asking for it.

The food was good. Not the best Italian I've had, but good. Only one dish comes with homemade pasta, so I recommend asking for that pasta to be substituted for whatever dish you order. The other pasta they use isn't great at all. The portions are small, so don't expect to take leftovers home... ok for us since we're out of town. The tables are packed in there. It was a maze trying to get out, and the guy at the next table literally turned around and asked if he could sit with us. It was a joke but pretty much a reality. The service was awful. We never got a refill on water or asked if we wanted another glass of wine, so by the time I was halfway done with my meal I was out of water. The waiter was at the table next to mine and I looked at him and gestured to my empty table and drinks, and he completely just walked away. There was literally no food left on the table and we waited 20 more minutes before getting up and walking to the front to pay ourselves. He looked like he didn't even know we hadn't paid yet and never even apologized. Maybe we got their worst server, but he really ruined the dinner.
