Ristorante La Perla of Washington
Chef-Owner Vittorio Testa will make you feel like you're dining in his house. The waiters exceed expectations, and the space is garnished with painted tiles and Venetian glass to make every dining occasion a memorable one. There's also Private dining and Outdoor seating when the weather permits.
Great location and super food but the soup portion is now 1/3 what it used to be since 2013. This should be noticed going forward ✍️
We love coming to La Perla when we visit friends in DC. The food is excellent. It is our traditional anniversary spot and hope it will continue for many years to come
Excellent service & food! Loved it & cant wait to go back! Parking was a challenge but good to know now that they have valet parking!!! Highly recommend!!!
Recommend. As good as when we last visited DC a half dozen years ago. Good location. Very good menu and wine list. Staff want to please. A fine Saturday night dinner.
It was a dinner to celebrate a birthday. Bringing out a desert with a candle for the birthday girl was a really
Nice touch and not something we expected. Food was very good too.
This was a first date and everything was perfect. The waiter was attentive, without hovering. He made sure that the champagne glasses were always refilled. The chef/owner came to the table to greet us and welcome us, always much appreciated. The food is amazing, and they don't skimp on portions either! An evening at La Perla is not to be missed whether it is for a first date, a family dinner or a business meal.
Had dinner here before the Kennedy Center. It was a fabulous experience from the time we were greeted at the doorway. The staff is very friendly. The food was absolutely incredible. We can't wait to go back.
First time but definitely won’t be the last time. Food and service were superb!
Thought main entree food portions were small for the cost.
Great Food and the chef was a pleasure to meet!
I would not recommend going here, the overall Yelp reviews are misleading. The food is about the same quality (or less than) as Olive Garden, and not worth the price. The portion sizes are small, and the quality of the ingredients are clearly from cans/frozen. The service is overall good, but again not worth the prices they charge.
The service was excellent. My 4 daughters and myself were out for a girls evening. We were treated like royalty. Our server was beyond attentive. The food was delicious
$10 plus 10 % Tax and 20 % Tip = $13 for a Caesar Salad served on a tiny plate with maybe 6 leaves.
That was it. Should have walked out.
Chicken was pressed so thin it was hard to slice it. This is a VERY expensive restaurant without
any value at all. Instead of Pasta as a side opted for Vegetables. They served wet, over cooked red peppers on a plate. How does this place get the reviews it gets. What a waste of time and money. One of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time.
3rd or 4th time dining there and it is consistently excellent. I especially enjoy the personal conversations the Chef has with us as he visits every table during the course of the meal. My only wish is that I lived closer to DC.
We had the BEST experience at La Perla! Food was amazing, wonderful ambience, and Victor our waiter provided great entertainment and was so attentive. Highly recommend La Perla and we will be back the next time we are in DC!
Love this place always great. We go there a couple of times a year. Have never been disappointed.
We'd only stopped in for a late-night drink before, this time for a full dinner with our son. We all had a delightful time, charmed by the chef/owner's practice of visiting each table personally. All our food was excellent, my veal parmigiana probably the best I've had. Very convenient location near to our hotel and Georgetown.
Excellent as usual right from the time you enter the restaurant until you leave. Our favorite in DC
Great quality place since residing in Virginia starting 2013
Wonderful food in a beautiful restaurant - the in house made pasta is perfect. The mussels appetizer had the best sauce
Overall great food and atmosphere. The service was very much on point as well. However the anti pasta portion was extremely small for the price and they charged per soda (was not informed) in 6 0z glass.
I have celiac and a bunch of other food allergies, they were very accommodating. Everything was safe, and quite delicious. Best vodka sauce I've ever had!
We decided to spend our wedding anniversary here, which made the celebration a total success. Vittorio was his usual charming self and was constantly on the lookout, making sure that his guests were 100% satisfied. The seafood lasagna and veal piccata were both excellent, the ambience/decor very pleasant, and the wait staff attentive......not to overlook nominal $6.00 valet parking which was very much appreciated.
Great place for holiday dinner for a romantic couple.
Nobody cooks like Chef Testa. His entire restaurant is a tribute to Italian cuisine! Best Italian food in DC, period!
I have been to the restaurant several times and noticed it drop in the quality of its dishes over the past year. Food was a bit on the disappointing side. The flavor and preparations of the linguine and pasta is no better than what I used from the grocery store. Definitely does not deserve to be rated high. V Co
Truly a special and outstanding place in DC. Your pleasant experience starts with a very warm welcome at the entrance. Atmosphere in the restaurant is Great. The food is absolutely delicious. They are Chef Vittorio Tesla’s creations and very tasty. And he personally greets you at your table which is very kind of him. All the servers are very kind and very professional. You always want to go back there.
Took my adult daughter to La Perla for her birthday. The service was very slow. The food was “ok”, but for the very high price, it wasn’t worth it. My daughter ordered a pasta dish with seafood, including shrimp. The 2 large shrimp were so overcooked she could barely cut into them. Someone who was dressed like a chef, but didn’t identify himself, had 2 new shrimp brought out, they were cooked much better. The waitstaff was courteous and friendly, just very slow.
For the high price, I will not go back to this restaurant. It wasn’t the high price that turned me off, I knew that going in. There are way to many good restaurants in DC that are so much better.
As always, wonderful dinner, great service, and of course, a visit from our favorite chef!
Utterly does not understand allergies. I was given a meal covered in something I specifically asked not to have. When I asked them to just cancel the order, they remade it anyway and the chef stood over me to make sure I ate it. I still got sick from it. It was also horribly overpriced and the wait staff were talking behind my back about me and provided pretty terrible service.
Food was mediocre at best. Expensive.
It is a wonderful, old-world, elegant yet relaxed restaurant. Small but excellent wine list, great service. The only negative for me is that the seafood lasagna I ordered was a bit salty. So much so that I could still taste it the next morning. Still, I would recommend this restaurant highly and perhaps order something other than pasta next time.
We were seated promptly, drinks ordered w/in 5 minutes of being seated. From start to finish, we were attended to but never in a bad way. It was a wonderful, leisurely 2 hours of pure dining pleasure.
The oysters on the half shell melted in your mouth. The soups were hearty and tasty. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauces seasoned beautifully. Salads were delicious.
Some comments were made about the price but we found the prices to be very fair. Service was not slow, it was a chance to relax over good food and drinks. We will be back.
We have been going here for years. Never have we had a bad experience until this visit. Our food took over an hour to arrive at our table. The food and the staff are amazing as always but they gave a nondescript explanation for the delay. However, they did comp our wine for the inconvenience. Next time, we will be sure to get ahead of the delays if any.
Service was very slow. I ordered a veal picata and was served a veal parmagena
Authentic Italian Cuisine and extensive menu. Chef Vittorio and wait staff paid attention to every detail. Decent wine list. Quiet atmosphere even on a Saturday evening. Zuppa Di Pesce is a great choice if you like seafood - be sure to ask them to spice it up.
Service was excellent. Food was horrible for the price.
As always a wonderful experience
A dining experience I look forward to when visiting DC
Wow! Absolutely one of the best Italian places I’ve ever eaten(and I’ve eaten at quite a few!). Old school ambiance and very authentic Italian cuisine. A must visit!
