Have been hosting business dinners there for several years; however, this was my wife's birthday dinner. She loves the restaurant and the food.

Food was disappointing- my wife had the Vitello Marianna Scalfaro and said it had not taste. I had the Chicken Medallion Sinatra and it was bland. The Penne Vodka was good however. Nice atmosphere and the service was solid.

We were in the side room to the left, not the main dining room. The setting was perfect with a low noise level so that we could have a conversation without listening to others around us or having to shout to be heard. Service was excellent, attentive but nor intrusive. The food was as good as we remembered it from our first visit back in 2010. I cannot think of anything that was not excellent.

Positive: Food was good. My wife said it was the best Chicken parm that she as ever had. I had the broiled seafood platter. Scallops were wonderful. Shrimp was good.
Negative: everything else. My 9yo daughter asked for a kids menu. The waiter asked if she wanted spaghetti and meatballs or cheese ravioli in a "kids size". She chose spaghetti and meatballs. When it as brought out, it was a full plate adult sized serving (that we were charged $24 for!).
We arrived at 5:30pm. There was one other guest seated in the entire restaurant. There were 5 waitstaff standing around the bar talking. Not busy at all. I ran out of water twice and soda once. All three times I had to ask for refills. Our waiter checked on us once when we first got our food then disappeared after that for at least 30 minutes.
Food: I ordered the broiled seafood platter. I got 2 and 1/2 scallops ( you could see the knife marks where the half was cut!) , a 4oz lobster tail ( that was overcooked and rubbery) and a SINGLE, solitary shrimp. ($38 for that!) It also came with a 4oz dish of spaghetti swimming in garlic butter. I also ordered the broccoll rabe side dish. It was a canned product that was more warmed up than sauteed. For $9, I expected fresh with a vibrant flavor Not something that looked and tasted like supermarket frozen spinach.
I will not recommend LaPerla to anyone. Way overpriced for the product served. Food was great in some ways but terrible in others (a lot more bad than good) . Service is lacking. 1 star out 5.

Best classic Italian food I have ever had in the dc area. The pasta is excellent - dining room is traditional, elegant and tasteful. Not noisy at all- was easy to carry on a conversation . Loved it!

The service was really difficult. We had to ask repeatedly for them to come over and take our order, receive the check, order drinks, etc. The food was decent but I ate there about three years earlier and had such a great experience and the food then was outstanding. Not sure what changed, but I hope they can change it back!

The food was not worth the price. I felt that the portions were small for the price paid. The vegetables were cold but with the slow and impersonal service, we did not send them back. The main dishes were tasty, but not worth the price.

The organization seemed a little chaotic; No one was ready to valet the car, the bartender was silent and somehow I missed the prices of the entrees, when looking online. Only three shrimp for $31

We went to LaPerla after a show at the Kennedy center. We has a reservation, and were taken to our table right away, given menus, and our drink order was taken. Within 5 minutes the owner /head chef came to our table and introduced himself to us!. We had 3 generations of family, everyone ordered something different, and was very satisfied with their meals. The pastas were all very fresh, the veal was tender an flavorful, and the senior generation was very glad that the portions were not huge ( who are also New Yorkers who eat out in NYC all the time).
The staff were wonderful and attentive, by the end of the meal were were deciding what we would have next time we came.
Also, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful.

Tasty, fresh cuisine. Portion sizes, quality, presentation fair value for price. Wines marked up which is typical at any restaurant so again fair.
Enjoyed the meal. Waiter became challenged when volume of customers increased.
Maître de was excellent and welcomed us upon arrival and was gracious upon our departure. Unique and cool ambiance.

The food is amazing and an extensive menu where anyone can find something to eat. The service befits a white table cloth restaurant. A group of four women, we had a two hour dinner prior to attending a ballet musical at the Kennedy Center. We left the restaurant happy and charmed with a farewell by the Chef.

Visited La Perla last weekend for daughter’s pre- graduation dinner celebration. Closest because of location, Italian food which my daughter requested, and good reviews overall on TripAdvisor.

The food was fairly good, the setting is nice although a bit noisy at times, and the location convenient.

On the flip side, the service was ridiculously slow, even for Saturday night, over an hour to receive our entrées, no apologies whatsoever. Note to owners: this is really not good business, least you could do would be to offer a complementary dessert or coffee. Something. As it is, we will not likely be going back, particularly given all of the other great dining options in the Georgetown area.

We came to this restaurant to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we were very glad we did. The food, the wine selection and the service are superb. We were lucky to be waited on by ‘Sultan’. Absolutely remarkable service, very knowledgeable of the food and wines. The ”Bistecca Alla Fiorentina” and the Limoncello took us straight back to our wonderful time in Florence...

Great food and great atmosphere. My wife and daughters and I had dinner before heading to the Kennedy Center. Service was great from the moment we walked in. We arrived about 10 min earlier than our 6pm reservation, but still got seated immediately. The chef made rounds through the dining area to ask how we were doing. Portion sizes were actually perfect...you get your money’s worth, but not an overload such that you feel the need to take half of it home.

Very disappointing. I had the chef’s special pappardelle - pasta texture was good and seafood very fresh, but flavour entirely overwhelmed by the sweet sauce whose orange-pink artificial colour was also a turn-off. One of my companions had the fish soup and described it as “very ordinary”. My other companion enjoyed his carbonara. We’d possibly have been more forgiving about the food if the service hadn’t been so appalling. Our waiter was rude, arrogant, ignorant and careless - repeatedly missed things we’d ordered, forgot to bring a spoon for the soup and was rarely in sight - we had to keep asking other waiters for water, cutlery, drinks, check etc. We went elsewhere for dessert.
