It was a little tough to find this restaurant and the first thing I saw after arriving is a dimly lit bar. I'm glad I didn't leave after that because the food was very good. The eggplant casserole was baked in a savory red sauce. The malfatti was like spinach gnocchi in butter. I'm glad I had a chance to try it, and it was tasty, but I might pick other options next time. I also had the seafood Livornese. It wasn't what I had expected, but was the best dish of the night. I had envisioned a red sauce with capers and olives, however it was a marinara with lots of garlic and flavor. The seafood was fresh and consisted of mussels, clams, and squid. I requested this dish to be spicy over linguine and it came as such. The night ended with a ricotta cheesecake that was light and didn't weigh down the whole meal.

A nice night out. Great fish, good traditional Italian entrees. Some of the best Pasta Alfredo I've ever had. The bronzino special was excellent. Very attentive server.

The food was excellent as always. I would suggest having additional staff scheduled for pre and post dinner crowds.

Always delicious! Food never disappoints. Langoustino and whole Dover Sole deboned tableside my favorites. They added a new item to the bread basket, fried celery root. Crunchy and yummy, better than the bread!

While in Philadelphia, PA at the Penn Medical Washington West Building my party and I decided to have lunch at La Buca, which is located in the same building. Outstanding service and food. We will return...

The food and service were excellent. It was a bit expensive. Our reservation was at 8; when we arrived, there were a few people there but they finished dining well before us, leaving us alone in the restaurant. Next time, I will go earlier or perhaps on a different night!

The food was fantastic! The stuffed calamari is my favorite, but they have gotten quite small since the last time I was there. Nothing to write and rave to Nona about this time - 2 small stuffed calamari is a bit skimpy for the price. They were delicious - just very small. The 2 specials we also ordered were quite tasty and we were pleased. However, the server Derek became way too comfortable with us and overstepped his bounds on several points offending us with some of the things he was saying, sharing, and doing. He did try to make up for it by comping our desserts, but the bad taste in our mouth was quite strong.

My wife and I regularly have dinner prior to the theatre. Always warmly greated. Food is always outstanding. Service is good and timely when attending the theatre. Most waiters and staff are very friendly.

My husband had the Salmon blackened and I had the Langostino and both were very good along with the rum cake for dessert. The service was excellent and we both enjoyed it. Will return.

We located La Buca through Philadelphia magazine. It was also close to the theater.

Food: Food was excellent and I would go back fro the food.

Service (Front): Waiter was Derek. His recommendations were excellent and all as promised.

Service (Back): This was really, really bad! Our entree was not served until 1 hour 30 min after we sat down and at the time we arrived (1800), the restaurant was only about 25% full. It was very clear that the kitchen and the chef could not keep up with the necessary pace of the preparation as traffic and orders increased.

Solve that problem and I could give it 4 or 5 stars.

Bucca is not a young Restaurant which is not a bad thing, it has a large bar, a spacious dining room, and a staff that looks like it has been doing this for a while, they are attentive but not overbearing, they never came up while we had food in our mouths, but we never waited for any thing.
Now important things, I had Veal chop it was cooked perfect, tea drinker moist and tasty, my wife had Lobster, she loved it, we had crab meat cocktail and tortellini soup, both were good the broth was tasty not salty, the pasta was not over cooked, and you get enough of them the crab meat was cold without ice watering it down, firm and tasty
The wine list is very well thought out, it has something for everyone, without being over bearing (no heavy books)
We enjoyed the Bucca and will be returning

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The waiter was great, giving suggestions for tasting and sharing home made pasta as an appetizer. We always enjoy coming here before the theater.

This restaurant consistently has excellent food and service. Our waiter was friendly and offered a strong knowledge of the menu. The bar tender is friendly and makes you feel like he is welcoming you to the family home. This is our regular spot before heading to the theater.

I would encourage you not to support this establishment. The service is terrible and insulting. The waiter told me how much to tip before I even wrote down an amount!! How insulting! Perhaps it was because the average age of the other patrons was approximately 80 and I was less than half of their age? I eat out nightly and give excellent tips. I was humiliated at this restaurant.

Old world service and excellent fresh food cooked by a master chef. No trendy items or fad foods here. Just the freshest and best ingredients cooked with great attention to detail and with love. The fresh fish is the best. Pasta is wonderful. Great cocktails and wine list. Highly recommended. Get the langoustines and the grilled veal chop. Outstanding!
