Excelsior Ristorante does not disappoint! This was the second year that we celebrated Mother's Day at Excelsior. Brett, our server again this year, was professional, attentive and helped make our dinner for 12 perfect! The food was excellent from our antipasto hors d'oeuvres, lobster, cod and meat main dishes to the creme brulee. The cocktails and wine choices were endless. We look forward to our next dining experience at Excelsior!
We were in Eugene for a meeting the next morning and decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Excelcior, having had very good lunches there in the past. Our experience was such that we do want to come back. One of us had lamb rack and the other, sea scallops. Everything was done to perfection. Food quality with caring and capable (too weak of a word) preparation, plus very fine service (just enough) made dinner a very fine experience. We took-out a carrot "cake" which was much more than that. We enjoyed that the next day along with fond memories of the original meal. Thanks to everyone who took part in providing that for us.
The food was disappointing and too expensive for the result. Flavors for all of us were mediocre. I would go for drinks and appetizers and enjoy the excellent service and lovely atmosphere.

Delicious scallops and the shrimp appetizer was heaven! Yum!
Food was excellent, it wasn't busy so service was very prompt. This is an expensive place, two of us, shared salad, 2 entrees, 2 deserts, couple glasses of house wine with tip ran us about $150. Won't be an every week thing, but definitely a great place.

Food was fantastic. I had Lamb, date had artichoke ravioli and both were exceptional. Ate on the bar side as a result of a special event in main dining room so not quite as elegant, though not disappointing.

Delicious food and great service - nice place...it was a very busy night with large groups so the noise level was high, but that's to be expected sometimes. My only complaint is that I thought we were seated in the bar because there's a large screen tv over the bar. Not a large room (and we weren't IN the bar, I guess, so I found it very distracting and not what I want to look at when dining in this type of restaurant. It's not a sports bar.
The atmosphere was elegant and romantic. The service was professional yet not stuffy. The wine list, impressive. The food was beyond expectation. Never knew a pork chop like that existed. It was next level magic in my mouth. The dessert was as much a visual masterpiece as it was a culinary delight. I highly recommend the Excelsior Inn!

The Excelsior and its chef owner Maurizio Paparo have a long history of dependably fine dining in Eugene. Its elegant country inn style dining rooms are nicely appointed and warmly lighted providing a pleasing ambiance whether a romantic dinner for two or a group of friends and family. The menu is a nice mix of traditional Italian (think osso bucco, gnocchi with boar ragu) and northwest fresh farm to table, the wine list varied and well conceived. Our recent dinner there was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Had a very delightful Valentines dinner. Everything was perfect and we will have brunch on Sunday. Only issue is limited parking and someone (not in the Restaurant) blocked in my car for ten minutes. Female college student(?) parked her truck blocking four cars. She was loading furniture. Food was plentiful and tasted delicious. The scallops and lobster ravioli was delicious. Servicer was attentive, ensured everything was served hot, tasted great, and all special order request was perfect. Restaurant was very full but the noise level was well below what I expected. I never had to turn my hearing aids off or down. Great acoustic dampening of sound and I could carry on a nice conversation with wife, made a great date.
We moved away from Eugene 20 years ago but were attending an event last weekend and made a reservation. We were delighted to have an excellent dinner. From the salad to the entries everything was excellent. The wine list very reasonably priced and a very nice list. The only miss was dessert as I was dying to have the tiramisu but we were very full and off to our event. I’ll be back for dessert!! We definitely miss the Excelsior!
This place is gem of a restaurant. The food is the best. You will love your server because of the knowledge they have and willingness to take care of you.

Food was excellent, but had a bit too much salt. I had the lamb stew.
My husband saw the menu and didn’t think our 19 year old would find an appealing entree. I called to confirm our reservation and to ask if we could order off of the bistro menu instead of the evening dining room menu. The staffer was very accommodating and we could do so. We arrived promptly and saw there were quite a few open tables. My family laughed that we needed a reservation at 7:00 pm. I had to ask our hostess (who I had just spoken to on the phone) for the bistro menu. I felt like I was in an alternate universe. She only gave us formal dining room menus and seemed to have forgotten this important request.
Our server placed us in front of the warm fire place and we were very comfortable and cozy. The ambiance was perfect.
The restaurant advertised slow cooking but it seemed that our food appeared rather quickly / almost immediately after ordering.
The wine menu though short did have selections from Oregon and California. My wine was delicious but pricy per the glass.
I asked for plain food with the sauce on the side. Our server assured me their food is gourmet and not that “type” of restaurant
My scallop dish, when served - was floating in a weird sauce. There was something very bitter in the mix and too much vinegar. The scallops alone were fresh though a little over salted. Surprisingly, they were not soggy. I would not order that dish again - unless they allow you to HOLD: the sauces and the salt as I had first requested.
The mixed fried seafood appetizer located on every menu tasted fresh and non greasy but heavily breaded. The pasta dish was sublime and perhaps the best dish ordered. The sauce was tasty and they make their pasta. Very respectable. My husband ordered the lamb. It was also delicious but overwhelmed with sauce and mash potatoes.
Pricy though we did not have desert
It seemed like the meals were slowly cooked and then frozen or prepared at another time and reheated.

We have a family Brunch the Sunday before Christmas. I recently moved here from New York where there are elegant, stunning restaurants that feed your soul as well as your stomach. Beauty is not on Eugene’s radar. They tried to put us on the inelegant bar side, but accommodated us with the pretty dining room. Other than that all was great.

This place is a treasure as we have been going to Excelsior for a few years now.
It’s our favorite spot to bring good friends or to celebrate something special. The Italian food is amazing as it is not a pasta spot but for authentic full favored food. The wine menu and desserts are very impressive as well. The other thing to note is they use local source food to ensure quality.
We usually prefer to go when U of O is off season like the winter and summer for parking reasons.
We made reservations for a special anniversary dinner (on line) Assumed we would be seated in the elegant dining room. We were seated in a "Bistro" area - through the bar. Food was good, service was adequate and friendly. but the noise from the bar was annoying, and there wasn't even a table cloth on our table. In short, it was not the elegant dining experience we expected - and paid for. I think we should have be advised in advance if the dining room was not available at our selected date and time.

As always, our experience at Excelsior was fun and fabulous! It is one of our very favorite places to go in Eugene and never disappoints. Our waitress was wonderfully attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance was really festive and beautiful. I felt very lucky we were able to get reservations at this busy holiday time. We had a large office Christmas dinner. We were placed in a beautiful room for the evening. Service was top notch. Best appetizers in town (prawns, calamari, carpaccio). Excellent wine list. Everyone enjoyed their entree and dessert.
Lovely relaxed dinner with my wife’s parents, his 82nd birthday. Food, drinks, service was perfect, as expected.
