The ambiance at this restaurant is outstanding. Service and food cannot be better. It is a bit expensive so be prepared. That said I will always go to this restaurant when I am in Eugene.
A bit overpriced for what it is. Average quality with fine dining prices. The atmosphere is lovely though.
It was okay.
I was with my daughter for Thanksgiving. The staff managed to pull together a wonderful vegan meal for her. I had the best kale and beet salad I ever had and the traditional Turkey meal was outstanding. If only my dog hadn’t found my leftover box in the car….
Beautiful restaurant, service was great, but unfortunately the food on Thanksgiving was mediocre. Winter salad quite bland, needed better seasoning in the dressing, portions rather small especially turkey, carrots poorly cooked, pies served cold with very hard crusts. We enjoyed our dinner anyway but rather disappointed in the fare.
Our prime rib was well done form the end despite asking for a medium rare piece which was promised. My son actually got a lovely medium rare piece so I know that was possible. Our waitress ghosted us for over an hour.
Fabulous food and service. Favorite all time restaurant.
I have loved Excelsior Cafe since I was in grad school
In the 80s. It’s always a pleasure to dine here, and I love bringing friends for special occasions. Wonderful menu, friendly and competent service, and lovely wine list!
The Excelsior continues deliver a world class dining experience in an old world setting. The fact that you can still arrange a table easily through Open Table Monday through Sunday. Never disappoints.
This is our favorite fancy place to go for date night or special occasions. I think their artichoke ravioli is amazing! Some of their food falls a little flat… the bread and butter is missing salt and the seasoning is light for our tastes on some of the dishes that should bring rich, bold flavors. If you don’t like seafood (like my wife), stay away from the Caesar salad and your menu options in general will be limited.
I applaud Excelsior Inn for having real chefs who innovate and prepare real food. I appreciate a menu that changes from season to season and food that is always cooked to perfection.
I love this restaurant. I’ve been there 3 times and it was amazing each time! Service was great, food was amazing and they had a great alcohol menu.
I really enjoyed my dinner here. My girlfriend and I were given the best table in the restaurant which was a great start. I enjoyed the quiet and darkly lit dining room. The service was incredible. The menu had a good selection of options as well. All the items seemed to be fresh and blended well with the weather outside. I had the fried game hen and it was easily some of the best chicken I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back!
Matt is the best!
Absolutely love the food! The service was very good!
Pleasant, relaxed environment. Service was helpful and friendly. Good place for a celebration.
Wonderful service. Quaint and beautiful ambiance. Food was outstanding! Worth the price and perfect date location.
Wonderful building and atmosphere. Service was great, but food was just okay. Steaks were overcooked and they were out of many items on the menu.
This is a hidden gem in Eugene. We loved it so much, we went back a week later. The service and food were both amazing. Highly recommend. We will return on our next visit.
My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. We truly had a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!
Food (especially the salad) and service and wine were all quite good. But too noisy for aging ears.
It was a great meal, excellent service and enjoyable place to eat dinner with our college student while we were visiting Eugene.
Wonderful food, beautiful restaurant, fantastic service.
Very nice .. elevated Eugene dining
Always a fabulous experience.
Very disappointing. Best thing was the waiter - funny guy and good service. We had two salads and two main courses. Only the Caesar Salad was really good. The Mista Salad was flavorless. The short ribs were just bad - poor quality and poorly cooked. Plus it comes with some sort of bland polenta mash. The gnocchi was also not very flavorful. And the prices are ridiculously high for Eugene and the qualify. We had three drinks total with that food for $150 - which is what we’d pay in CA. Heading to Ambrosia tonight, so we expect a much better experience.
Great U of O visit weekend … an awesome treat for the family
In a warm cozy atmosphere… first rate
I could go on all night about how absolutely perfect and delicious our dinner was! Fortunately for us we had Brett as our awesome server, and the entire staff was efficient and very friendly ~~ which is so important to ensure a great dining experience. Everything we ordered was seriously fantastic... the zuppa del giorno, prosciutto wrapped prawns, insalata autunnale (roasted beets!), insalata mista, housemade artichoke ravioli, and, to top it all off, carrot cake! So much attention to detail in every dish, not to mention flavor! We highly recommend Ristorante Italiano and can't wait to go back. :)
Loved the atmosphere! The Tiramisu was so amazing!!!
Wonderful evening, food was delicious, our waiter was fantastic!! Thank you!
I can't think of anything which would have made it better!
This is our 'go to' restaurant for special occasions, date night and for out of town guests to enjoy Eugene fare. Ristorante Italiano never fails to impress and satisfy all tastes from vegetarian to carnivore. The waitstaff is exceptional and consistently provides satisfying recommendations. Go, enjoy and bring your appetite to savor the cuisine.
Visiting our son at U of O
This is the second time we have been here. It is not an inexpensive place to go. Everything from appetizers to the desserts are phenomenal. The service is amazing as well.
Great service and friendly staff. The food prices seemed out of proportion to the menu offerings. My cocktowas excellent.
The butternut soup and the calamari was excellent but the pasta main course was disappointing, especially at the price.
1st time and it was better than I could have hoped! It won’t be our last! We hope to visit on return trips to Eugene!
This is by far our favorite restaurant in Eugene! We have been going there for 40 years and it continues to impress. Our favorite waiter, Bret, is an awesome guy who provides outstanding service and goes the extra mile to make every visit special.
Real, not fake, candlelight, linen table cloth and napkins, excellent service and delicious food - a perfect dining experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you, Excelsior!
Have eaten at Ristorante Italians several times and usually enjoy the meal, the service and the ambience. Tonight was an off night, service was quite slow due to a couple of large parties and the meals, while okay, were not up to usual standards. Partners filet was 1/3 fat and grizzle and over cooked and the duck ravioli special was on the salty side. Waitress apologized for slow service and comped dessert to atone. Usually a great restaurant for a nice quiet evening out with excellent service and a meal to match. Will try again another time.
Amazing food, wine and bar. Beautiful setting for our fifth wedding anniversary.
