It was our 40th anniversary, and we wanted a special place to eat. Although the restaurant is fairly large, we were seated next to three other tables (the only other copied tables). We could hear all the conversations. The service was fine - friendly and efficient. The food was simply adequate. Salmon was nothing special and fillet mingon was not really what we are used to seeing in a fillet. I would not recommend this as a first class restaurant. It was not bad but not worth the pricey food.
The service was great but the food was not up to the standards of what it has been in the past. The Cesar salad had so much dressing on it the lettuce was limp. The Pork Chop was slightly overcooked but very flavorful. The Gnocchi was cooked to perfection. The Yelp reviews over the past few months confirm what our experience was like. We will go back but next time if the food is not up to standards we will defiantly say something. When the total bill is $150 the food should be perfect.
Best dining experience I have ever experienced to be honest! The staff were super friendly and accommodating, the food was super. Bit in the price side but totally worth it!!

Wonderful food and service in a very picturesque outdoor garden setting. The inside was beautiful as well. Food was all tasty and very reasonably priced. My frittata was a bit cold but all three other dishes were not. I'd chalk it up to an aberration.
As usual another great meal and excellent service. Sat on the patio with our dog - what could be better!
My husband and I delight in going to the Excelsior. The food is lovingly prepared and always very fresh. The presentation of your meal is beautifully done. We enjoy eating out on the front patio when weather permits. The restaurant has many tasty options to choose from. There are two menus with a good selection of light meals and more substantial choices too! The Excelsior is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal.
My second time here as I traveled through Eugene. Everything was delicious, the presentation was superb, the service impeccable. A lovely atmosphere of friendly locals, it seems.
After hearing about this place for 20 years, we finally decided to try it. We spend about 2k per month eating out...for two people.
We ordered salad and a prawn appetizer. The salad was a handful of spring mix (literally) on a plate with two very ordinary salad dressing options ($11). The prosciutto wrapped prawns were over cooked (2 for $18) and the flavor was unimpressive. On to the lobster ravioli...which was also over cooked...except the pasta...which was undercooked ($36). I had the pork chop with celery purée ($28). The flavor of both the pork chop and the sauce were very good...but the pork chop was over cooked (and charbroiled like a seak) and the marinade they used for the pork chop left it too salty. The sauce was also too salty. This coming from a near salt addict (I keep salt in my car and on my nightstand). The cauliflower medley was two small pieces of cauliflower as well as the compressed apple. The service was good but we could tell the waiter was tired of hearing what we really thought about the food. The cook apparently agreed that the prawns were over cooked (and still sent them out?) so they waived the corkage fee (we brought our own wine). Despite wanting dessert (tiramisu is our favorite) we decided to go to Sweet Life instead. Obviously we won’t be returning or recommending this place Marche, Placido’s, Ambrosia and many other Eugene restaurants blows this place away. Don’t waste your money.
Enjoyed lunch outdoors from 1-3 pm on a weekday. We were able to secure a table in dappled shade. It was perfect for informal conversation but also the business two of us needed to accomplish over lunch. Food was excellent, fresh, and dessert was refreshing. We did not have wine, but many times when I dine at Excelsior I do have wine. The wine is carefully chosen and I've always found a glass or a bottle that is delicious. Highly recommend. (A local Eugene patron.)
Food was overpriced for what it was. Prawns dish was 80% pasta and 20% prawns.

unfortunately I ordered Filet Mignon done 'Medium' and was served Medium Well. On our anniversary, I didn't feel like waiting, so didn't mention it (probably should have even if I didn't want to wait for another). It was "ok" as in tender, but dry. I like the place and will be back, but next time I WILL NOT accept an over-done order.

The only restaurant in Eugene that I've found that serves grass-fed beef. It was prepared perfectly, and the scallop potatoes served with it were nicely done as well, just a bit salty for my taste. The biggest drawback for me is that I love vegetables. The steak came with two tiny demi-glazed carrots and a minuscule garnish of sprouts. It isn't like the menu offers much either in a nice side of vegetables, either. If you want veggies with your supper, go elsewhere.

Great food and beautiful presentations for our Duck's Graduation dinner. We enjoyed everything and would definitely return for other celebrations.
I had requested for my Family to be seated in the courtyard to enjoy the venue's garden. The time of my reservation was between breakfast and lunch, with the restaurant staff scheduled to set up outdoor seating after lunch hours. The staff were exceptionally accommodating with offering to set up our courtyard table earlier than their regular scheduled time.
As always, the customer service was stellar with the freshest locally grown and sourced ingredients.
My bread was soggy, salad was underdressed, mushroom rissoto was underseasoned. I was disappointed! The ambiance was nice though.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion. They were very gracious and granted 2 special requests for food items we'd had there in the past that were not on the menu and they made them both! Great server who was quite attentive but not intrusive. Very comfortable restaurant!
This is my favorite place to dine in Eugene. Every time I visit I am amazed with every dish. Don’t skip dessert as that is equally impressive. Service is great and I always appreciate staff being knowledgeable about their wine selection. Excelsior does not disappoint. They offer a beautiful formal dining room and a more relaxed bar area as well as lovely outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
Excelsior has been my favorite restaurant since the early 1990s. Consistently fabulous food and service. The only reason I rated ambiance lower & noise level high is because we were seated on the patio and one of the neighboring apartments was hosting a college party on their deck. Their music was loud and not quite befitting the ambiance one would expect at Excelsior. I have a feeling there is not much to be done about this in the future and it most certainly will NOT prevent me from eating here or recommending to friends. I may however, choose to sit inside during the warmer months of the year.
Amazing upscale Italian inspired restaurant that manages to do everything on the menu well. If it's any indication, I had my wedding reception here and more recently my anniversary meal. Staff is over the top friendly and accommodating. Love this place.
This was my first visit to Excelsior and I would definitely go back! I took my parents to dinner here the day before Mother's Day so it was understandably busy.
Appetizers: beet salad, calamari, and lobster ravioli (actually an entree but we all wanted to try it). All appetizers were amazing and full of flavor - great to share between 3 people
Entrees: we ordered and the filet mignon with chocolate ravioli and it was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The meat was cooked perfectly and the chocolate ravioli completely surprised my mom and I (which isn't easy to do). We also go the lamb with couscous which I would highly recommend.
Desserts: Rhubarb/strawberry pastry, creme brulee, and berry cheesecake - all came recommended by the server and would definitely order them again... also - best cappuccino in town (I had two).
Overall, it was a really relaxing evening and the staff accommodated our request to sit outside even though I didn't request a specific table in advance and they had set up for the evening. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!
Linen tablecloths, candlesticks with real candles (not votives), excellent service and delicious food, spirits and wine...what more could one want?
Great dinners at Ristorante Italiano. Service was efficient. Food was delectable. Cocktails were over-the-moon fantastic, especially the Mescal drink with awesome chili liquor. Fabulous desserts. Can’t wait to return.

Exquisite experience. Sarah our server was exceptional. Every bit of our appetizers and main courses were creatively and perfectly prepared. Deserts were the most diverse and most delicious we have ever experienced. Coconut cream pie was world class.
This was my first visit. Would have liked a menu with more selections, but what was offered was excellent. Definitely plan to return to try other menu items and explore the bistro.
Dinner was delicious. We were visiting our family in Eugene and walked by The Excelsior. We made reservations the next night and very glad we did. Will go there every trip to Eugene. There was 6 in our party and everyone ordered something different and everyone loved what they ordered.We also enjoyed that the wait staff took good care of us without constantly interrupting . Throughly enjoyable evening.

My family has dined at Excelsior Inn on numerous occasions in the past so we really looked forward to this visit. We were heading toward another 4 star review (incredible salads, entrees and dessert). Unfortunately, after reviewing our bill I came to the line ...Corkage $45! That is much higher than expected, higher than other restaurants in Eugene and Portland and rivals the fee at such fine restaurants as Le Cirque and Picasso in Las Vegas. While I consider the fee excessive and arrogant, and I understand Excelsior Inn’s right to charge whatever they like for the service. My biggest beef is that they do not have their staff trained to mention this inflated rate to patrons who prefer to bring their own, special bottles of wine to enjoy. Had I known I was going to be charged $45 for corkage we would have ordered several glasses of wine instead! Unfortunately this experience makes it extremely unlikely we will return.
We had heard about the Excelsior Ristorante for years and wanted to go there, so received a gift card for Christmas. The restaurant is beautiful. Parking was around the corner, half a block away. There was no valet parking when we went on a weeknight. I know if it's available at peak times. We were slightly disappointed at our dinners. While they were good and very attractively served, they were lacking in pizzazz when it comes to flavor. I ordered mushroom risotto, which had very little flavor of either mushrooms or parmesan cheese. It was good, but not as good as I had expected, given the restaurant's reputation. My husband ordered a steak, which he said was good, but no better than steaks he orders at our favorite watering hole, also a very upscale dining establishment, for less money. I'm glad we went to experience the ambience of the restaurant, which is really quite fabulous. But we were not all that impressed by the food.
caesar salad crisp leaves, good, dressing. powdered parm (neg) terrible croutons. crab soup terrible, lobster ravioli terrible too strong sauce. lobster over cooked. creme brûlée awesome. service excellent. atmosphere wonderful
