We are so excited to be Winnipeg's newest and exciting restaurant. 25 years ago, Chef/Owner Adriano bought his first restaurant in Venice, Italy and it has since become one of Venice's' most popular restaurants. Today, he brings Italy at it's finest to Winnipeg. Our italian food promises to stay true to that of true italian cuisine! We feature a fully italian wine list that compliments our finely crafted menu.
Come and join us for some fantastic food and wonderful company!

The restaurant was closed for good. Ruined our anniversary but maybe not. If it's closed down it must be awful.

This restaurant has gone out of business. We went tonight before the theatre and there were locks on the door and an eviction notice.

The restaurant was closed. Or permanently shut down for all I know. This says more about Open Table being on the ball than it does about this restaurant. Alas, we were forced to go next door to dine, to Bailey's, where we paid $80 for salad. Thanks for nothing Open Table. You're a waste of my time. And, it seems, my money.

Food was excellent. Service, spectacular. When the cook made a slight error on our order (served the pasta with alfredo sauce when one of us had asked for tomato), we said nothing as both were delicious. The waitress noticed on a subsequent visit and apologized, telling us to save room for dessert, complimentary. It was not necessary but surely appreciated. A great supper. We will return.

Server was very good but clearly overworked. As a result, service was pretty slow. We both opted for pasta dishes. My wife had the gnocchi with four cheese and I went for the spaghetti carbonara. The gnocchi had an overwhelming potato flavour. My food was so bland and there was hardly any sauce. It wasn't spaghetti - but linguine. The bacon lacked any flavour. I actually wondered if they boiled it because it was flavourless and chewy. With this being an Italian restaurant, I was surprised that I had to ask for Parmesan cheese. While we dined we noticed several other plates being sent back to the kitchen too. Perhaps there's no passion in the kitchen. And the weirdest part of the night was the DILL garnish on both of our dishes. I think we'll give this place a pass next time.

This restaurant does not have a single redeeming quality. We have dined there twice... as the saying goes, the first time, and the last time. The food is hit-and-miss, but the service is excruciatingly slow, uncaring and inept. This is mostly due to the utter lack of any staff. I recommend staying away from Dona Onesta. I predict that they will fail, very soon.

I was intrigued by the idea of a restaurant in Venice opening a location in Winnipeg, so much that I ignored previous reviews of this restaurant. Saying this dinner was disappointing doesn't really do it justice. I have never experienced so many people walk out of the restaurant before getting their food. Turns out, they were the lucky ones, because we actually got our food. The restaurant was so understaffed, and I couldn't feel bad enough for the one waitress serving 7 tables including a table of 20. She deserves credit for holding it together for what transpired. There seemed to be one chef who was completely out of his depth. Slow service was the least of the problems. It seemed every other entrée coming out of the kitchen was the wrong order or undercooked. For the table of 20 the chef had to come out after 2 hours to clarify what they ordered. The entire table of 20 got up and left. Other tables were sending food back, and ultimately walking out without eating. One person of our group of 4 ordered the spaghetti including myself. She got spaghetti, and enjoyed it. I got one third spaghetti and two-thirds uncooked linguine. This was un-edible. My wife got salmon and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were not mashed, stone cold and sitting in a pool of water. The salmon was completely raw inside. The other person in our group ordered sliced tenderloin, and he got an un-sliced steak, raw inside. This came 2 hours after being seated. We were already late for our next activity so there was no time to re-fire anything. We left without barely eating. The few bites of food my wife ate before realizing it was raw fish left her sick all night. This felt like we were in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. We walked out asking "Did this just really happen?" Overall a complete disaster. Reading other reviews over the past couple months shows this is a pattern and not a one off.

Sorry to have to write this. I don't normally take the time to write feedback, however my un happiness with the experience lead me to this. The Servers were overwhelmed and likely the restaurant was under staffed. Food was very slow in coming. Food quality was poor.

Listless Our group of 2 couples went before theatre January 21. The service and staff were excellent but the food left much to be desired. Minestrone soup was almost all broth and with few vegetables, and had little taste. My Friturra Mista was a large portion but the rose sauce was missing and the came in a small cup, i suppose for dipping. It was bland. The side of pasta was a good portion and tasty, for me the best part of dinner. All in all, i couldn't recommend this restaurant, which is too bad because the staff were friendly and helpful, and the menu items were interesting.
