Ristorante Don Giovanni - Mountain View Ratings and Reviews
Have been to many Italian Restaurants in the area but we continue to come back to Don Giovanni's. Food here is always great and the service is just as good. The restaurant has a elegant but cozy feel to it and would be a wonderful place for a special occasion or a romantic date. I have been here with my Wife, Friends, Family, and just my Daughter for a Father/Daughter night and I am never disappointed. Menu has a large selection, plus they always have a few specials to try.
My husband wanted to be seated at a certain table for his birthday since there was no one there, but the waiter wanted to place us at a small booth for two instead. We requested to sit at a table for 4 where there was more room to put our jackets and purse. Being Sunday, there were only a few people and was quiet. We enjoyed our food, as usual, but it just dampened our spirit by not honoring our simple request since we've been at this restaurant quite regularly.
This has been our third or fourth visit at this fine restaurant and as usual, we've had great food and fine service. Everyone was very attentive to all of our needs. We loved the delicious garlic and olive oil with the delicious warm bread! Our friend had the Salmon special and was moist and tender! We will definitely be back! Thanks!
I've been here several times and never had a bad experience. The food and service are always amazing and it's one of the few places in MTV that is happy to take walk ins and will try to accommodate large parties on short notice. Solid wine list and variety of food!
Dining out should be a special experience, at least that's what we all hope for. And our pre-theater evening with friends at Don Giovannis didn't disappoint. Our table for 8 was waiting for us in a great location, the wine we brought was promptly opened, the appetizers served quickly, and our waiter was knowledgeable - and hilarious. We had a variety of entrees, and all were excellent.....especially the Veal Marsala (their most popular dish). All-in-all, it was a delightful evening. My apologies to our waiter for erroneourly under-tipping....which we corrected later. I need to hone my calculating skills better. LOVED our evening!!!
Visited on a weeknight for a birthday dinner and it was lovely. It was not crowded so it was good for conversation (important for the older members of our party). Food was authentic, interesting, and delicious. Service was attentive but not annoying. Overall, we had an excellent meal.
This was our second visit to Don Giovanni's and we've had a wonderful meal visiting with friends. Lunch was delicious and I'd have to say that the Veal is so tender and delicious. The sea food linguine and cippino were scrumptious. We'd be back again. By the way, we loved the garlic olive oil dip with our bread, too!!!
Absolutely wonderful restaurant. A 10! We eat here whenever we are in town visiting family. We've had many fantastic dinners all with exceptional food and service. The absolute best restaurant on Castro St in Mountain View. I have some special dietary needs and the chef has always been very accommodating. Not super formal, or super casual...just right where any attire is fine. Great for a family get together dinner or a quiet date night. Simply a wonderful restaurant.
Had been here once for lunch and had an outstanding lasagna. Was afraid that it wouldn't be as good for dinner but thought is was wirth the risk. Fortunately, I was right. Dinner was excellent. Had a truly delicious meal consisting of a meat antipasto and ravioli ala bolognese. Looking forward to going back.
This restaurant was a huge disappointment in every way. Our waiter was like a Zombie. Very little emotion.... like he was having a really bad night. (And it wasn't busy). Perhaps he had personal issues ... I hate to be hard on people. BUT, I base my reviews on service more so than any other aspect of our dining experience. I would give this restaurant a big Zero.
And the food .... my vegetables looked 3 days old ... wilted and over cooked slop. My entree not worth writing about. My husband ordered their special of the night which was lasagna. It looked horrible...unrecognizable and tasted just as bad as it looked. Our salad and sorbet was the only redeeming factor of our dinner.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Sure wished we had spent our time and money else where.
The restaurant no longer is part of the Passport program.
I asked if they could substitute marinara sauce for a cream sauce in an entrée I wanted to order but was told my our server that it was no possible! (yes, no is what he said!) We had a very difficult time understanding him due his accent was very strong. He also seemed to only be interested in whether we wanted something to drink.
The food was as good as expected, nothing great but satisfactory. Portions were good.
Food was good, but service was terrible. A large party that arrived after us finished their meals before we got our main course. It took over half an hour to get a first drink. I have dined at this restaurant before and had much better service, so hopefully this was just an off waiter/night.
