Ristorante Bonaroti Ratings and Reviews
I get the osso bucco every time I go and it is prepared exactly the same every time - delicious! Sergio and his staff are true professionals and the Italian food cannot be beat! My husband gets something different almost every time and we always leave happy and full. Definitely recommend Ristorante Bonarotti!
This restaurant was a wonderful reminder of the foods we've enjoyed on our Italian trips. We enjoyed a delightful lunch here in pleasant surroundings with very good food and attentive service. The menu is larger than it needs to be, which makes ordering decisions difficult. We're looking forward to dining here for dinner soon.
You can rely on a great experience at Bonaroti. The service is always attentive -- but careful to never interrupt a conversation (a rare art) and the food -- particularly the specials -- are always wonderful. The noise level can be uneven, but is never so loud as to interfere with conversation.
While we had passed Ristorante Bonaroti many times, it had never occurred to eat here. While looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a special occasion and not finding an Italian restaurant that had some items my wife could eat, we found that Ristorante Bonaroti had an extensive menu with several choices for my wife. We found that the restaurant had a great menu selection, a friendly and very efficient staff and excellent food. We look forward to going back again many times in the future.
Bonaroti is a well known neighborhood Italian and fish restaurant with an extensive menus and old fashioned service. The food is somewhat expensive, but very high quality. The service is great but don't come expecting a quick meal. This restaurant is considerably better than its modest exterior. The waiters wear tuxes and many customers dress up too. Highly recommended especially for a special occasion. Again, not cheap but well worth it for the overall quality..
We gave this restaurant a try because of the posiive reviews, and were truly surprised to be so underwhelmed. Located around the corner in a small strip mall, the decor is trite. The menu is Italian staples, which is fine. They should not have served the miniscuule blue point oysters, and I should not have agreed to pay for them. Too small for an oyster fork! The sausage ravioli special was smothered in sauce and average in taste. We like supporting local restaurants but will not be returning to this one.
We had moved from the area, years ago, only to return to the same wonderful restaurant. Sergio was still their, accomodating as ever, even making a fantastic warm portabello appetizer dish that was on the menu years ago. Great italian food and outstandung service.
If you enjoy great food, excellent service that makes you feel at home but still lets you think you are in an upscale restaurant in NY, this is the perfect place. I have been here several times and am always impressed. During the week a perfect place for a business meeting and on weekends perfect for a special night out.
This is one of our favorites and it was disappointing this trip. They were very busy and there was something going negative going on. Much chatter in Italian/Spanish that we didn't understand but it was not pleasant chatter amoung the waiters.
Our waiter gave bad information about a few things. When they came out, the wine was not what he said, even though it was very good. The wine list has it listed without vineyard specified. The dessert was not what he explained.
Even with all that said, it was still a very good experience and we will go back soon and take friends. This was just a bad night for them.
We had an excellent meal here celebrating a family event but the service was a bit spotty. They seemed to have two large parties at the same time and this almost certainly caused the service issues we experienced. I wish restaurants informed you ahead of time when they were booked with large parties. I may have still made the reservation but it would have been my choice, not theirs. Isn't that the true spirit of the hospitality industry?
Having said that, the food was excellent, the wine list very nice and we had an excellent time. I wouldn't recommend the fried calamari as my 8 yr old son had this as an appetizer and thought it was a bit "greasier" than usual, beyond that I'd highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returnin
This is a difficult review to write because there is much to like about this highly rated restaurant, but our visit coincided with events that can ruin the experience. Were were seated in a room with a very large (read:loud) celebratory dinner. The party was well behaved and even apologized for being loud. We asked initially to be moved to a different room, but were told that no other, quieter option was available. That said, we got through our tasty dinner, though our food was much delayed as you would expect. However, if you put that aside, I would give very high marks on all fronts: food and service were excellent and the management was as accommodating as possible. I would return.
Took a friend for her birthday. Service was very good. There is quite a large menu and portions are ample. We split a salad which turned out to be plenty for each of us. Both our meals were delicious. My tortellini was home made and in a rich cream sauce - delightful in every way. They even brought my friend a dessert for her birthday and sang to her. And did I mention they have a free parking lot right outside - always important in our area.
After waiting for 10 minutes to be seated for our 8pm reservations, we were finally shown to our seat, where we waited another 5 minutes for a busy waiter to literally drop off 2 menus and ask if we wanted something other than water...though we still hadn't gotten a wine list or even looked at a menu. A good 5 minutes later, we still hadn't been spoken to, gotten bread, anything. This was pretty much how the whole 2 hour debacle went. The owner ended up being a better waiter to us than our own. My husband's dish was good, however mine was mediocre (though I should've known since our misinformed waiter recommended it). The restaurant was crowded and they even moved our table to accommodate a bigger party in the middle of our meal.
We arrived and were warmly greeted at the door, escorted to a table, the lighting and seating had a good ambiance. The wait staff were very attentive but not overbearing. The food was absolutely excellent. Even though my wife could not decide on two courses for her entrée, the maître d brought out the entrée she did not decide on for the main course as an appetizer. I really felt that this made our dinner a special experience and will return again.
The staff is outstanding-- if you have ever lived in Europe, this comes close. You book a table for 7:30 and it is yours for the night. We were still there at 10:45 and did not feel pressured to leave. The menu selections are extensive. I had rockfish in white wine sauce with polenta and broccoli rabe. Excellent! But the best part of my meal was the mussels appetizer. I lived in Belgium for 6 years and ate hundreds of bowls of mussels. These were as good if not better -- the sauce was perfect. The mussels were served with crostini, which I tried to use to sop up the sauce. When this was not successful I reached for the bread basket to use the fresh bread to do the same thing. Fabulous! We will return again and again.
From the initial reception to the farewell, we were accorded warmth and graciousness. We were a family of six. I was celebrating my birthday along with my spouse and two of our married grown children and their spouses. The menu was so extensive that it was difficult to choose, and, among the six of us, five different choices were made. My choice was a special of the day, rack of lamb. Salmon, black bass, shrimp polenta, and sausage ravioli rounded out the orders. Everybody was delighted with their meals. When I asked about sharing an entree of gnocchi, the waiter graciously served it on six plates, and he did the same for a Caesar salad. The service was impeccable: ever present when needed, but not fawning. We shall return!
The restaurant, the staff, and the food were absolutely amazing. It was if we were waited on personally by everyone. I would recommend this location for just an amazing experience. The menu was so plentiful, I could not decide on what to eat that evening! Our waiter was incredible and Sergio is just an amazing gem of a person who adds that special touch to the night and made us amazingly welcome.
The owner was fantastic with his stellar service. We ordered a cold cut and cheese plate and he gave us each a huge plate of each. My friend had the cold cuts and I had the cheese. The arugula salad was delicious. I ordered the linguini vongole white. Was surprised to see a brown sauce with that dish as it is almost always prepared with a garlic, olive oil, white wine and lemon sauce so it's usually clear. Strange to see that my brown sauce was also on my friend's veal dish which was suppose to barolo wine sauce. It was pretty good but the linguini was not el dente which I had requested and my sauce was a bit too creamy and heavy for what I usually eat. Nonetheless, the owner went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed our meal
This is by far our favorite restaurant in northern Virginia. Food and service is always fantastic, and the owner is always involved with the customers; we have watched him serve almost every dish that comes out of the kitchen and he personally stops by each table to make sure that everything is as expected. This is the key to a well run restaurant! If you love Italian food, this is the place to go!
Our dining experience was truly outstanding. The food was particularly enjoyable and Charlie, our server, provided impecable service. As a finishing touch to the evening, Sergio offered complimentary liquor and biscotti. A memorable evening.
Thanks so much,
Richard A. Morgan
This was the 3rd time our group of 6 has gone there to celebrate our anniversaries, and it's been consistently great each time. The food is fabulous -- and plentiful -- as well as reasonably priced. Waiters have been highly professional though one of them was fairly pushy this time in trying to get everyone at the table to have a salad. It took three or four times of saying no before he gave up. We'd certainly go back in the future, though.
