Delicious food with excellent service and a romantic vibe.
Great as always! Great service and food was amazing.
Everything was excellent. Nice to have the four-course fixed price menu and be able to choose among great options for each course. Outside dining area very nice.
Live out of state now & haven’t been here for years. Didn’t care for the 4 course only option from Tuscany. Not a lot of flavor in any of the courses I tried. I miss the old way! Not like it use to be. Service was very slow.
One of the top Italian restaurants in Wisconsin, Ristorante Bartolotta offers interesting, out of the ordinary selections. Although, an excellent tiramisu, and panna cotta is on the menu. The rotating regional theme assures a regular change in the menu while giving a sampling of dishes from all over Italy. The service is attentive and warm. The outdoor seating is spacious. Only the sound could be improved with more appropriate music and a slightly lower volume. Overall: Excellent!
Fantastic meal, worth every penny. We loved the concept of the specific location from Italy for the food. The meal was amazing and right size for all. Each of us tried a different type, each one was great tasting
Our servers were so friendly and the food was just amazing. I can't wait to try the next menu too!
I was disappointed, to be honest. I felt the food on the Tour of Tuscany was sub par, just lacking in the flavors I expect from this restaurant. We have gone here for decades for special occasions. The truth is, unless they up their game and bring back some of the old standbys we probably won’t be back. Unfortunate, but true! As always , the service was excellent but it won’t be worth the expense unless the menu improves.
We prefer being able to order ala carte rather than the full four courses.
We went on a Friday at 6:30. The area was saturated with traffic and parking was an adventure. My advice, UBER/Lyft if you decide to go. My expectations were high as I have always associated the Bartolotta brand synonymous with quality, creativity, and excellent service. Our server appeared to be some what discombobulated. For instance, when she poured our water (glasses were already at the level we desired) she poured so fast water splashed all over the table, more than once. She also seemed annoyed and impatient. They were out of menus so we had to wait until they were available. She did level off as we were able to have some conversations around the menu items. The food overall was a very bold attempt to give the diner the experience of the Tuscan cuisine. The food was marginal at best. The soup was so thick it was reminiscent of tomato paste and the egg was over cooked. The ribbon pasta had a great flavor, but to much salt, and I like salty. The pork was flavorful but slightly over cooked. The fish had a good texture and was cooked well but a bit fishy. The price was quite high so that is also the disappointment. I was underwhelmed and did not feel welcomed.
The current format of a 4 course fixed price menu is outstanding. The current region being featured is Tuscany. Delish and uncommon choices in each course with something for everyone.
Last week we sat down for a Tuscan menu dinner, the eighth or ninth regional menu we’ve enjoyed since Ristorante Bartolotta re-opened. We requested and were seated at the bar. We asked to taste a Pinot Grigio and Barolo which bartender Scott was happy to oblige. Both had great fruit and balance, so we ordered a bottle of each and took about half home. For starters I had a delicious pork loin with white beans, and my wife liked the peasant tomato bread soup. Our next two courses were ribbon pasta with wild boar ragu and mushroom ricotta filled pasta with porcini and veal glaze. The ragu was delicious and the mushroom pasta outstanding, certainly the best mushroom course I’ve had the pleasure to partake. For the main my wife had strip steak with arugula and parmigiana, again very good. I had braised rabbit which, surprisingly, was tough, dry and a very small portion. I’ve loved their rabbit in the past, but was disappointed this time. Finally, my wife had a unique, refreshing, tasty vin santo sorbet with raspberries and candied peaches. I had pecorino cheese with pear, walnut and honey, a great closing other than there were only three razor thin slices of pear and one walnut. It would have been outstanding if there were enough of these to go with the cheese. We’ve been customers for over 25 years, so a couple of hiccups are no big deal. As restaurants continue to rebuild staff, some problems are to be expected. We are looking forward to the next regional menu, due in October.
Our service team and food was outstanding. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely go back again.
The whole idea of a changing menu featuring dishes from different regions of Italy every month or so is a great concept.
We had a perfect evening! Loved it! The outdoor area is quaint. The regional themed meal was so fun!
As always, this place is an incredible experience! I recommend it to all.
The wine flight to pair with each diner’s menu options was as outstanding as the menu options themselves! This took our dining experience to a new level!!!
All the food was good but the mousse dessert was fantastic!
A delightful dinner in Tuscany is just a short drive away. Need an Italian food fix? I suggest visiting Ristorante Bartolotta, in Wauwatosa. We did last night to celebrate our 32 wedding anniversary. The restaurant is currently featuring the flavors and dishes of the Tuscany region. We started with a spirited Tuscany inspired drink and transitioned to a flavorful four course Italian meal (ending of course with their perfectly baked tiramisu cake). It was the remedy to being stateside and craving the fabulous flavors of Italy. We will be back soon, when they begin featuring the next Italian region.
Great food after not going to restaurants for a very long time. Will do it again.
The outdoor dining space is fantastic and the themed meals from specific Italian regions make for a
very enjoyable experience! The pace of the meal was perfect and our server was helpful and attentive with menus and wine suggestions.
Sat outside. Nice setting. Service wasn’t great. Didn’t offer crushed pepper with salad. Had to wave down wait staff to get things. Never asked how meal was. Unable to order ala carte.
The menu was a prefix menu with choice of app, pasta, entree, dessert. There were about 4-5 choices in each section to choose from. Everything was delicious but even with smaller portions it it's still a lot of food. Service and food was excellent. Definitely recommend.
It was great and so were our servers Peter and Emily
Extremely attentive services. Prix fixe, 4-course menu. Excellent food. Nice place. Would tour all around Italy with the Bartolottas.
Magical outdoor patio, feels like you’re actually in Italy! Impeccable service and creative menu, top notch dining.
Awesome food as always. It was delicious.
Ristorante Bartolotta is our favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Our food was delicious, the presentation lovely and the service is always wonderful. We have enjoyed having food from the different areas of Italy.
That being said, we are ready for the normal menu. My favorite entree is the duck ragu and I am always a little disappointed when it is not available.
Unfortunately we had an unusually disappointing evening. We normally enjoy our experience at Bartolotta’s. This evening was not the case. We spent a small fortune. Despite the cost, the food was overcooked, the menu choices were fixed and not to our particular liking, and the staff was surly. It will be a while before we consider returning.
Nice place. Nice and helpful staff. Food was good and interesting and of high quality but for us it was simply not a good value at $100 per person for meal and one glass of wine. Especially because we left hungry.
Great outdoor setting. Fantastic wine list. Pasta and meatballs were perfect. The secondi (capon chicken) was awful… sliced, overcooked chicken that was dry as dry can be with mushy broccolini. A true surprise that ruined our first impressions after the first courses … not sure what kitchen lets that dish out the door. When we didn’t eat it the waiter gave us some bread and butter.
The fixed price regional menu was fun to try new things, but I wasn’t that excited about my choice for Secondi. Everything else was great, including the summery cocktails that were refreshing on the beautiful outdoor patio that transported us to a European villa.
We have eaten here many times and the new menu is limited. A few of the old favorites are gone. The food was average to good depending on the coarse. It feels like cost cutting measures and while it is understandable give the last year I would expect the Bartolotta Group to do a better job. Bacchus and Lake Park have a similar setup. Not sure I will frequent those restaurants based on this experience. A little disappointed.
What a marvelous choice for our anniversary dinner!
We were properly spoiled by Michelle and Peter--great service!
I invited some local friends out for dinner. We had not seen each other in months. It was the perfect environment and ambience to catch up and enjoy our time together. We were thoroughly impressed with the Calibri menu and the food, service and environment was perfect.
Wonderful 4-course meal. Food and beverage excellent. Service top- notch!
There was no ala carte menu. The chef selects a region of Italy and bases the menu selections off of the regional food. The 4 course meal had a good selection to try for each course. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the concept and the dishes they served us. Food was awesome and we tried several dishes we had never had-a great experience for food lovers like us. Great place to celebrate a special occasion, it is a bit pricey.
Wonderful Italian experience with great food and fabulous service
A special occasion requires a special place and Ristorante Bartolotta was a perfect choice. The room was intimate and very quiet and the six of us had no problem hearing one another, which can be an issue with a larger group. We appreciated that all employees in the front of the house wore masks, which were embroidered with their names. The $65 prix fix menu focused that evening on cuisine from Calabria in the "toe of the boot" of southern Italy. It was interesting and delicious. The lack of other less elaborate choices did not lessen the experience. In fact, it enhanced it, making the meal an adventure! Special cocktails were delicious and served in little coupe glasses like a vintage martini, which was fun. We wanted to choose a wine from Calabria with our dinner and our server, Emily, recommended a lovely and inexpensive red. She brought a sample for us to taste and it was perfect. Emily's service was charming and informative. She was there when we needed her, but never overbearing or obtrusive. Emily is a five star server! While this was an expensive evening, it was one we will remember. One suggestion: study the menu choices within each of the four courses before you arrive! It's really hard to make selections from the many offerings (and after a cocktail). We weren't a bit rushed, but I definitely wished I had "studied" my options ahead of time!
