Ristorante Bartolotta - Wauwatosa
This is a quaint Italian restaurant in downtown Tosa. Many old family pictures on the wall to set the ambiance. I had the duck ragu (pappardelle?) on homemade ribbon pasta. It was excellent. My husband had a seafood di mare w/ roasted veggies grilled w/ lemon and olive oil. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our waiter, Sam was wonderful. Definately worth a trip!
Delightful experience. Food & service extraordinary. A special treat: sitting next to Ted and Maria (Bartolotta).
Chefs menu was best one yet! Service outstanding!
This was a neat restaurant to visit in a charming part of Tosa Village. My husband and I came for our anniversary and were treated to incredible service by our waitress and pretty tasty food! This was the first time we've eaten in a restaurant of this caliber, and it did not disappoint!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return!
Delicious food and five star service. Noise level a little high though! Would definitely return!!
Hard to recommend at all as there was a plumbing problem of some kind and our reservation was cancelled by the time we got to the restaurant.
Ristorante Bartolotta is our favorite restaurant in the city. We've been going there since it opened in 1993, and have ALWAYS had great food and great service. We enjoy all the Bartolotta restaurants but this one is very special.
This was our first visit back since they had remodeled the restaurant and brought in a new chef. WOW. Fantastic meal. Our party of 4 had four different entres and everyone was thrilled. We had been there years ago and were so disappointed we had not been back until now. We will not stay away long now!
It was delicious. Had the special ear pasta appetizer w brocollini. The brocolinni was very over cooked and almost mushy. That dish was not that flavorful. The veal was fantastic. Wine as well.
The atmosphere in tosa outside the door is alive and vibrant on a Friday evening. Bustling, young, comfortably crowded. Inside Ristorante, the crowd was mixed and the staff was superb. Smiles, friendly conversation from all the staff, a simple and clean menu with ample choices and a single special with a recommendation to include a seasonal fresh veggie in the meal somewhere. Great food, great timing, great execution. Well done
I had the pasta with duck ragu. Probably the best dinner I ever had. The wine was perfect and I received a free desert as we were celebrating our anniversary. The staff was very nice and attentive. We will be back.
The food was amazing. We recently traveled to Italy and this was the first meal that’s even compared. I would recommend it to anyone. A little pricey but well worth it.
Ristorante Bartolotta is a Milwaukee institution. It still has a certain place in our hearts. But, compared to other options now available in the city, it just doesn't hold up. We had a nice dinner with outstanding service. The room was very noisy - which is fun, but also distracting. I expect that much noise in a sports bar, not an upscale place. The food was good but nothing remarkable. Still a nice place, but dated.
First off, let me say our food was outstanding! That being said, my husband and I would probably not return. We love Mr. B's but would not return to this one. We were told that we would have 2 servers taking care of this and we were slightly concerned that the servers would be too attentive. Well, that was NOT the case, in fact it was the opposite! Our friends had to wave down 1 of the servers to even get a drink, even though she acknowledged that they needed drinks but left and failed to return. When we were asked about water, she asked if we wanted sparkling water, we said yes. Can you imagine our surprise when looking at the bill we were charged almost $7 for it. I would never have ordered it had I known. This was the 1st time I have ever been asked about sparkling water. Cost wise, I think your prices are rather high and there are many places that we can and do go to that have outstanding food at prices that are somewhat more reasonable.
Italian soda cocktails and caprese appetizer was wonderful. The rigatoni with eggplant was great. The pappardelle with duck was very very salty and very disappointing. Servers were very polite though and offered to make a new pappardelle but we just were not optimistic about it getting better second time around.
Excellant cocktail, great price fixe menu and flavors, pasta with duck ragu was salty and service was slower then usual
Another excellent dinner. Waitstaff was attentive but not overwhelming. They happily made suggestions. Lots of celebrations made things quite festive.
Food and service was excellent. However I did not receive my opentable points. Hopefully the restaurant can add that in.
We had a very excellent dinner on half off wine night. The server, Samuel, made excellent suggestions on our inability to choose between two entrees. We could not have asked for better service and the food was incredible. The half off bottle of wine, an Italian Chianti, brought my wife flashbacks of her recent trip to Italy where she originally had this wine. It was a great date night and we were finally able to celebrate her birthday dinner, only 6 months late.
Food was delicious. Service was slow but our waiter was very busy. Still noisy but better than 4 years ago when we were there.
Everything was wonderful-as usual
Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was our first time. I knew it was a little swanky but holy cow a little too formal for my tastes but the service was very good and the food was amazing. It was a little too loud. But it is a small place so you'll have that. The calamari was amazing. Could easily eat 2 servings. The filet was perfectly cooked and had an amazing black truffle sauce. So good!
Very inattentive as far as pouring more water and asking for drink refills. Servers were unfriendly. Caesar salad romaine not fresh. Desserts need to be revamped. Had linguine with clams. Pasta was too al dente and I bit down on a small clamshell that I thought was a piece of shaved garlic.
Very unusual service experience. 7:15 reservation. Seated promptly, but had to ask for a wine list after being seated with no contact after 5 minutes. Ordered wine, still had no food menus. Asked for them and got them. Bread presented and placed on the table because no bread plates on table. Salad plates taken away and dessert menus presented immediately. Asked for our dessert order only to share that we were still waiting for our dinner! Apologized saying, “that shows you how busy I am!”
When dessert was presented, we were given soup spoons, not small spoons, again, being told “we are really short on dishes tonight.”
I can appreciate the perspective, but I don’t think I should really hear about the challenges as the dinner. It was really uncharacteristic and strange. It will not keep me from continuing to enjoy your restaurants, but it seems like it might be an opportunity to improve. Missed opportunities at the beginning of meal- no suggestions for appetizers or soup or salads, we still ordered them on our own. No offer of coffee or after dinner drink with dessert. Again, odd, unusual and unexpected.
Thanks for the excellent food and wine!
Lovely dinner with my Godson. We were able to share 3 shes and had a fabulous meal. Samuel our waiter added to the pleasure of our meal. Dessert and coffee ended out meal so very nicely.
We came for the first time for our anniversary and weren’t disappointed! Shared the duck Ragu appetizer (amazing), and I got the lamb ragu special, my husband got the seafood dish. We both liked our entrees but liked the appetizer best! We split the lemon cream for dessert and loved it as well. The service was great- upscale but helpful and approachable. They made me a mocktail which I really appreciated being pregnant! We will be back!
Fantastic food, small tables, crowded, noisy. Best ravioli ever.
Great food and service, as always. Sad to hear they are getting rid of the Pork Chop.
Overall very nice meal. Food was very good but doesn’t knock your socks off. The ambiance seems more casual than the restaurant is striving for.
Absolutely amazing from beginning to end. Everything surpassed my expectations and can’t wait to go back. Thanks to Carly for her superb service.
We love eating at this restaurant. The ambiance is great and so is the service. On this visit we were a little disappointed in the food. The veal on the special was cut thicker than I would have thought for scaloppine and was slightly over cooked though still tender. One of our friends had the chicken under a brick which was definitely over cooked. Waiter helped us with a wine selection which we enjoyed.
As usual our regular pilgrimage to Ristorante did not disappoint.
As always - great!
Excellent all round (service, food, presentation, ambiance) as always! Perfect place for any occasion.
Everything was great. However I forgot to give my Bartolotta rewards card when paying the bill. Can our dinner be applied to my rewards?
Having problem getting into the rewards website. I have the little card on my key ring. Has that program been eliminated? I’m still getting emails.
Fantastic experience. Excellent food and service. Strongly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner on a beautiful Friday evening. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and our waitress, Carly, was the best. The food was exceptional and we will definitely return.
Very professional atmosphere and delicious entrees. We were celebrating a retirement and felt thankful we chose this Bartolotta restaurant.
Emily was our server and was very efficienct having to wait on tables outside. My husband had the capres salad with tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil and tomatoes. I loved the calamari. Bartolotta has the best calamari I have ever had! I had a pasta with eggplant that was excellent. My husband had the shredded duck in a creamy dark sauce over large homemade noodles . It was amazing! The Tiramisu was fresh and creamy. The entire meal was wonderful!
