Rise Sushi & Sake Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Great sushi and great ambiance. The staff was awesome and we gave them the liberty of picking our sushi for us. Great selections, and great options for vegetarians. We actually stayed past close but were not approached to leave. In fact, the staff moved us from indoors (during an 85 degree night for dinner) to outdoors for post dinner drinks (when it got cooler), and made the entire night great for a mini reunion with our friends.
We had dinner with friends and they wanted to try this place. We ordered the hamachi Carpaccio. The yellowtail was razor thin and you could not pick it up with the plastic chopsticks (the end of the chopstick was thicker than the fish) I have ordered this same dish other places and it is 10 times larger and thicker. We ordered 4 of the Signature Maki and they all fell apart, as if they were thrown together, hastily. The salmon in one of the rolls was awful, I wanted to spit it out.
I also ordered the special dinner of seared Tuna. The tuna was overdone.
This place has a good vibe and is fun I will give it that. I would stick to the Traditional rolls maybe and get a noodle dish?
We ordered saki and that was good, they have a good selection.
Rise continues to be a solid choice for Sushi in the Southport area. Lots of newer restaurants on Southport these days, but for Sushi Rise is still the best bet.
I only wish Southport were a little closer to Roscoe Village - we really need some good sushi there.
Rise never disappoints! The food is always delicious and the restaurant is not over crowded. I do have to say that we made a reservation and they had to go and set our table when we arrived... would be nice if we were able to sit down right away! Otherwise the service and food were incredible. One of my favorite sushi spots in the city!
We had a group of 7 on a late Sunday afternoon produced, and there was only a modest crowd in the restaurant. The waiter was attentive but too passive given the expansiveness of the menu. Would like to see more recommendations to balance out the sushi selections of the group.
Rise is awesome in every way! Their sushi is superb, and for those who aren't into the sushi, there are great meat and vegee choices that are equally delicious. I will definitely go again, and will recommend highly to all who love great food, especially sushi, at a really great price!
A family favorite for over 4 years now. Couple of kids in college and they love to come home and have a family gathering @ Rise. Never dissapoints and we always are looking for something new but always come back to Rise...Great food, lovely service and it always delivers a great event for the family.
I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and someone confirmed the day of. When we arrived, they claimed we didn't have one, and, although we were seated, we felt very unwelcome and were clearly rushed by our rude waitress. When we tried to split checks, we wrote down what to do and the waitress charged the wrong cards with the different amounts. The food was fine but not worth money or the unpleasant experience, unfortunately.
Rise was perfect for my friends birthday! The martinis were great! The cheesecake birthday dessert was delicious and perfectly decorated! The staff was knowledgeable , and extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend for a fun dinner before going out on the town!
Do you just love sushi? Well I do. Rise sushi has a great selection of tasteful sushi rolls. But Rise isn't just a roll place they have many good kitchen items. May I recommend the fried rice. One of the other perks or Rise is the location. Southport is filled with great shopping and dinning,
went here for a bachelorette party with a group of 12. the ambiance was good and the staff was accommodating. i was disappointed when it took over 1 hr to have our food brought out to us when there were more than one sushi chef available. the food, upon arrival, was nothing spectacular. may try this place again, but i dont think i'll be ordering any more sushi next time.
I took my friend here for her bachelorette party. We made reservations for 8pm and the service was so slow, we had to scramble at the last minute so we wouldn't miss the show at 10:15pm. On top of that, our food took forever to come and while the bride ordered more sushi, I look behind the bar by the sushi line and see all three cooks standing around. The server was nice, but pushy when it came to ordering drinks.
Love the food. It's a real favorite but the noise is almost unbearable. We were there late - a 10:00 reservation - and you couldn't hear anything. By the time we left - after 11:30 it was fine. Ther take a few huge parties and the noise is deafening. But the food is great! And the service people are very accommodating.
This was my first visit, along with the other 7 people I was dining with. We LOVED our experience. Having such a large group, we were all impressed with the food, service and ambiance! The sushi was fresh and yummy!! Very tasty and reasonibly priced. It was a great start to a fantastic evening - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN concert. THANKS - We will all be back!
What happened Rise? You used to be my go to place for sushi. All specialty rolls had fruit in it. The one special roll had what tasted like canned tuna torched under a flame on top of it. This place needs a kick in the pants with regards to creativity. Won't be back until I hear this menu gets revamped.
I had walked by Rise many times and even walked inside once. Finally I rallied a group of friends to actually eat there. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the great food. We al tried each others rolls and everyone was impressed. Several people on Yelp complained about the service being slow. First of all, this is sushi, not Wendy's, so it should be a given that it will take a little longer. But, I did not feel the food took an extraordinary time to come. No complaints from me on that issue either. I would like to see those Yelp reviewers make sushi faster! All in all, this was a great dinning experience and I will be returning soon and with more people.
I went there the other night with friends who used to live in the city and go to Rise all of the time when they did. Rise was as good as we all remembered! I had heard some negative reviews lately but I thought it was fantastic. Try the Niku maki - my favorite!
I checked 'good for kids' because I've taken our son there early and on weeknights and it's been great.
The only bad thing I could say about it is the noise level which can get kind of loud during prime hours.
We ate at Rise befor attending a concert near by. The sushi was fresh, inventive and fantastic. We ordered a couple of appetizers but the sushi was far superior and I would recommend just concentrating on that. It was a warm night and the windows were open creating a great dinning environment. Our server was friendly and very attentive.
Rise was a perfect way to celebrate my 33rd birthday... tremendous food and wonderful atmosphere. Some of my guests did not like fish, but there were plenty of other options on the menu and everyone was thrilled with the food! The service was also great, not too pushy but always there.
