Enticing - and delicious - Sunday brunch menu, with a wide range of selections from a prix fixe menu. Associated selected teas and coffees are available and well served - altho rather pricy.

We had a wonderful first visit to Ris. Our server Karim was excellent and suggested the pre-theatre menu to us, which was amazing food and good value. Everything we had was perfectly seasoned and tasted great. We enjoyed a gin and house-made flavoured tonic from the Gin Mill, which was a nice take on the standard G&T. The ambience was just right for us ... elegant but not at all stuffy.

Each visit to Ris is more wonderful than the last. We live in NYC but make a point of stopping in whenever we're in the area. This visit Ravi's gin menu was incredible and varied, Kareem was the perfect server, caring for each of us attentively and making sure we got what we wanted. Ris is a delightful host and inventive chef. Her French Onion Soup is such a fave we went back for a second bowl the next day before we left town! The hamburger (on the lunch menu) is truly the best I've ever had, and lamb roast (Thursday night special) was wonderful.

Ris has very good food for lunch and dinner. It is a low key setting where it's easy to talk business or talk with friends. The food is a classic menu but with good variety. there is a good wine list and a nice area to sit at the bar.

The chicken Milanese was great , the plate was balanced with flavours. It was simply delicious. it was rich but not heavy. It was refined rustic food at its best. It was to bad the desserts missed the mark for my taste

We liked Ris so much we went back again a few nights later. In fact, I liked the Portuguese fish stew so much I had it both nights. My husband would've had the scallops again, too, but that special been replaced by a beef filet. He loved them both. Our friends were equally as happy with their dishes, and the two sides we shared, cauliflower and brussels sprouts, were terrific. The ambiance (especially, but not only, if you have a booth) is perfect for an evening of conversation with good friends -- an elegant and quiet but not intimidating dining room, thoughtful but not obtrusive service. We'll definitely go back.

An evening at Ris is pure pleasure. The ambiance is inviting and sophisticated without being stuffy. The menu provides a beautiful selection of vegetarian, fish and meet dishes with a great children's menu that includes dessert. In addition there is a nightly special to dine upon. the service is always exceptional with a balance of friendliness and attention to detail. I highly recommend His. It never disappoints.

Timing of the food was off and we had to wait about 45 minutes when we were literally the first table being served. All other diners appeared to be getting served in a more timely fashion.

My husband and I had New Years Eve Dinner here, and the food was amazing. He had the Linguine and scallops. I had the Fishman’s Bowl. Both plates had explosives taste. The seafood was fresh, and the pasta fluffy and handmade.
Highly recommend for you and yours to have a very well priced dinner.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal to celebrate NYE. I had the Crown of Cauliflower which is one of the best vegetarian dishes I’ve ever had. It was amazing and I can’t stop thinking about it. The ambiance was terrific and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend RIS and would definitely eat here the next time we’re in DC.

The chef at RIS is excellent. I love the cauliflower dish. It is fabulous! I'm so glad RIS allowed us to order off their regular menu on NY's Eve so I had the french onion soup and the cauliflower entree and my husband ordered the tasting menu. The tasting menu was really great. Unlike many other restaurants that give very small tastes when they offer a tasting menu, RIS gave my husband two appetizers and then 3 entrees - the first was a mushroom crusted cod that came with 2 good sized pieces of fish. Then came the duck with stuffed pasta and there were several pieces of duck, cooked just right. Then came the lamb, which my husband said was also cooked just right - medium rare (not overcooked). Our waiter was also great! Even though I didn't order the tasting menu, RIS gave me a taste of the foie gras torchon appetizer (that came with the tasting menu) and they gave me and my husband a sorbet champagne dessert (which I hadn't ordered so I'm assuming it was also part of my husband's tasting menu). My husband and I don't care for champagne so we tried the sorbet and left most of it in the cup. When our waiter saw that we hadn't really eaten any dessert, we explained that we didn't care for champagne and he was super apologetic (even though it wasn't his fault). He then brought us a yummy dessert that was like a cake made out of pistachio and lemon ice cream. Thank you, RIS, for a lovely evening.

Everything was delicious, but the mushroom-crusted cod was outstanding, with the accompanying mushroom bread pudding a little slice of heaven. The Gin cocktail focus was fun - including extra special attention from the gin-enthusiast barman. Our go-to choice for a pre-Kennedy Center meal.

Service was less than stellar. Twice we were brought mussels that we didn't order. My daughter was given Brussels sprouts with bacon even after we ask if it was possible to have them without and confirmed that they were vegetarian when delivered to the table. Even though there were only about twenty people in the restaurant, we had to request a refill for our bottomless mimosa. Overall the food was quite good but didn't make up for the lousy service. We likely won't be going back.

We were in D.C. for four nights and spent one evening dining at RIS. My Branzino was tender, my partner's rack of lamb was perfectly cooked rare to medium rare, the scallop Margarita appetizer was absolutely delicious, and the quiet atmosphere was a rare find. Our wait staff was also attentive and excellent.

I'm sorry we are leaving tomorrow or we'd have one more dinner at RIS!

Consistently reliable for high quality in all areas.

Wonderful food. Accomodating. Not too noisy for a restaurant of its quality these days. Pleasant ambiance and comfortable. Good all-around staff, e.g. reception, service.

A very nice dinner: good food, pleasant helpful staff, nice ambiance. A lovely pre-KenCen dinner. Within walking distance to the Theater is a big plus. A few of the entrees [skirt steak and trout] were a little bit salty for our taste, but did not diminish our enjoyment. The cocktail menu is innovative -- we enjoyed our Vesper and Manhattan [perhaps not innovative, but well-made].

Meal dragged on for two hours to serve only one round of drinks, appetizers and entrees. Waiter apologized for the delays, but no explanation or remedy. Restaurant was hardly full. Had to skip dessert in order to make a Kennedy Center show; waiter was surprised, but I don't know why.

We had the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It was difficult to get the waiter's attention, and after ordering we had not food after 45 minutes. When the food came, it was not properly heated or cooked. We were told there was a large party and the kitchen was backed up. We left at 3:00 after a 1:00 reservation.
