Rio Grande - Ft. Collins
Awesome place for great margs and memories. Love the Rio!!!
We went to celebrate our sons graduation. They seated us fast and we had great service.
We’re back come to the video since it opened. Separately and then together. Our first dinner date was at the Rio 31 years ago. So we know what to expect. The drinks are always good and we have our favorites on the menu.
And we sat on the patio which is great. Our waiter was especially attentive. I was quite surprised. Good job.
Mother’s Day was amazing on the back patio.
Good food. Recommended
We have never had a bad visit to the Rio! The drinks are delicious, the food is yummy and no matter how hoppin', and it almost always seems to be hoppin', the wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient. It's easy to see why The Rio is a FoCo favorite.
Service is always great, however, on last visit, food was late and tacos were cold.
We sat outside is why I gave it a quiet rating. I enjoy going to the RIo.
LOVE this place! Great food, amazing margs, and wonderful people. We'll be back (but it's pretty darned noisy!)
The best Mexican food we have had in a long time! Great margaritas too! Excellent service. Will plan to stop in next time we are in Ft Collins.
Great time celebrating my daughter’s birthday!
I enjoyed my experience at your restaurant. We came on Tuesday and took advantage of early specials. The food was good and served quickly. Our waitress was friendly and good and we will be coming back.
Happening place on a Friday night! Great food and fast service considering the place was packed. Best margs in town!
Great happy hour menu! No wonder it's a Fort Collins tradition...
The Rio makes the absolutely best Chile Rellenos and chips and salsa. Wait servers were excellent, especially with my rambunctious grand daughter. The manager (Chris) came over to table and was genuinely interested in our opinion about the food, service, etc. Very good experience! Thank you
Food was terrible the queso was just Velveeta that had been sitting in a crockpot. The restaurant was filthy. My husband and I decided to leave after we had the queso. Table was wobbly and our drinks spilled.
I really miss the way the RIO use to be. The new plates, service, food, is not as good as it was. The server was ok, but nothing like the service I have had for the past 20+ years. The Rio has been a favorite of mine for years and it was great the way it was. I hope the owners consider going back to tradition.
I love that Rio offers vegetarian options, especially their Tortilla Soup. We would have waited over an hour for a table had we not reserved ahead through Open Table. Service was attentive and food was good, but the seats are a little worn (my friend’s was ripped and scratching her legs) and the set up makes it very hard to hear your table mates. I will definitely return on a less busy evening.
We went to the Rio for Great Plates. We always enjoy the margaritas there, and the Great Plates deal was great. Our waitress, Julie, was fantastic too!
They ran out of tequila!
My only complaint is that we had specifically reserved a booth. Even though they had obviously sat two booths just prior to our arrival, we had to sit at a table. It appeared that they just forgor that we had asked for a booth.
Sydney is an awesome waitress
Enjoyed dining at The Rio since it opened
We love the Rio! Always have...always will! The food and service is awesome. I miss the tostados on the dinner menu.
The Rio is always a fun place to go! It's best in the summer when you can grab a table on the patio, but the rest of the year is great too. It's loud, it's busy, and there is almost always a wait! Go early, or be prepared to have a drink while you wait (great waiting area). Once they get this reservation thing figured out, it'll be even better (we had quite a long wait, even with a reservation). They felt bad about this, and seated us as soon as a table opened up (which meant that they hadn't wiped down the table, or set it up for us - - a little tacky). The drinks are fabulous, the food is pretty good (I wish they would bring back the tostadas to the dinner menu).
Best margaritas in the state! We love coming here for dinner with our family.
The service was not very good. Our server was very inattentive. Our first course (soup) dirty dishes were never removed from the table. Drink orders were delayed. Usually service is much better. The food was good as always
We have been eating at Rio Grande for over 30 years. It has always been a "noisy" restaurant, but New Years Eve was over the top. The food was excellent and service was outstanding, but we had a table of 8 young adults next to us and we couldn't hear each other talking. It was the loudest I've ever experienced at the Rio. They were literally yelling at each other and we left early and found a quit coffee shop to talk.
Great service and I love their specialty margs! It was our son's birthday and they made it special :)
We took our son to Rio for his 25th birthday. The past several times we have been there we found the margaritas watered down and this last time the nachos came out on a silver cooking tray and they were soggy and chewy and had very little topping. The quality of the food and margaritas has gone down and the prices keep going up. Sadly this favorite place of ours we may not be headed back to any time soon.
Food was extra salty; sauces and soup had a "canned" flavor. Not the Rio I remembered.
What has happened to the Rio? Service has completely slipped - it's slow, unresponsive, and the wait staff is mostly lackadaisical. Examples:
1. We arrived at our table, and it was a full 5 minutes before we had water and chips/salsa. The old Rio (as recently as 3 months ago) would practically meet me as I was sitting - with water, chips, salsa.
2. I ordered a second marg just as my dinner arrived. It finally arrived after I had finished my dinner - at least 20 minutes later. When I questioned how long it took, all the server would say is that the bar was backed up. Even on the busiest nights, the bar has been fast, efficient, and highly responsive to the customers. Not sure, but I think my server threw the bar staff under the bus.
I've been a loyal Rio fan since it opened on North College. It's always been fun, easy and fabulous service.
Next time I want a fun place to eat, The Rio will be far down on my list of possibilities.
Great place for good strong drinks and tasty food!
The food was good, service was great, but the ambiance was like trying to carry on a conversation in a jr. high lunchroom.
We were visiting Fort Collins from Maryland, this was a return trip to Rio! We were there in the summer last time and sat outside which was very nice! It was too cold this time for that so we were seated in the dining area, and it was just as nice, it’s a very festive, yet cozy environment! We had reservations but got hungry early so we came in to see if we could be seated early, we were seated no problem!! Our service was great, food came out super quick, hot and delicious!!
Service was attentive and very good. Food is ok, and comes very quickly. Homecoming weekend, restaurant was Very Crowded and Loud.
Got seated quickly, 20 minutes early!
Overall okay, great steamed veggies- queso wasn’t to my liking- seemed grocery store-like. Good margaritas!
Fun atmosphere, gracious staff. Bar was running behind (understaffed) but server explained and apologized. House (classic) margarita too sweet (like sprite plus tequila) but Silver Coin was awesome! Food was great. Make a reservation! Tons of people (walk-ins) waiting to be seated, but we had a res and were seated immediately.
Great complete 180 from last visit. Long time Rio goer and happy to see them still going strong. The food and drinks were both excellent. I will say the menu changes and new menu are unnecessary for a restaurant already doing things right. Changing the menu layout and design every few months just confuses repeat visitors. Also removing tostadas and simplifying tacos (which now lack some of the unique features) doesn’t make since for a restuarant trying for broad appeal.
Love the Rio,
Been coming for 20+ years. Unlike most I think the margs AND food are good. I am a Mexican food aficionado and the rio in its latest pre-August 2018 iteration was doing everything right. New menu/changes to the food are not a good move. Once awesome tacos lack color, flavor, presentation. Where are the unique sauces, corn salsa, pico. No Huevos rancheros? Come on guys why change a good thing? Margs are still good but don’t ostracize the loyalists of the Rio. You don’t need to imitate Nuevo tasteless Mexican trends when you’re already unique and good.
The Rio has changed their evening menu - which is a little disappointing. (For example, they took out the Tostadas, which was a good dietary choice for me). But the margs are really good, the food consistent and the service good. It's a fun place to go - regardless of your age.
